Bhakti/Prayer and Sunday Feast at Zurich Krishna Temple – Visit from St. Gallen
Bhakti/Prayer and Sunday Feast at Zurich Krishna Temple – Visit from St. Gallen
Join us for a peaceful and uplifting Sunday afternoon at the Zurich Krishna Temple’s traditional Sunday Feast 🌸 Every Sunday, the temple hosts a vibrant cultural and spiritual gathering featuring mantra meditation, devotional music, wisdom talks, and a generous vegetarian/vegan feast. It’s a beautiful opportunity to experience Bhakti-yoga culture, connect with like-minded people, and enjoy a warm community atmosphere. Our Plan We’ll meet at St. Gallen train station at 11.0am and leave together by taking the 11.07am Train to Zurich. From Zurich station, we’ll walk as a group to the temple but you can also take public transport if you prefer that and then we can rejoin at the temple. They also serve lunch for everyone from 1-2pm which we plan to join as well. About the Sunday Feast The program typically includes: • Mantra singing & bhajans (devotional music) • Spiritual lecture & discussion • Traditional temple ceremony • Guided meditation • Large vegetarian/vegan buffet feast The festival begins at the temple from 3:00 PM and continues into the evening. 📍 Location: Krishna Temple Zurich Bergstrasse 54, 8032 Zürich Who should come? Everyone is welcome (irrespective of religious/spiritual background) — whether you’re curious about Bhakti yoga philosophy or simply want to enjoy meaningful community time and great food. Disclaimer This Meetup is a casual group visit. We are not the organisers of the Sunday Feast — the event itself is hosted by the Zurich Krishna Temple. We’re simply attending together as a group from St. Gallen. Feel free to bring friends, comfortable walking shoes, and an open mind
Photography at GP Mutschellen
Photography at GP Mutschellen
Join us for a day of photographing a variety of racing cars and motorbikes at this hillclimb event at Mutschellen (between Dietikon and Bremgarten). Although competitive racing (and specifically overtaking) are not allowed in Switzerland, there are occasionally some opportunities to see some racing cars and this is one. There is a paddock at the bottom where the cars and bikes are prepared and set off in groups up the hill. You can stand in various locations along the route. There are usually some stands selling food and drinks. **Tickets**: CHF20 per person, payable to the event organisers (not PICZ!) on arrival. If coming by car, **parking** is an additional CHF7. **\*\*if this Meetup event is full, of course you can come as a private individual, it may be difficult for more than about 10 members of the club to meet up and stay loosely together!\*\*** **You will need:** * Your camera (preferably with good predictive autofocus) * A variety of lenses, from standard or even wide angle for the paddock, to telephoto to follow the cars and bikes up the hill. * Advisable to bring at least something to drink, you may wish to bring your own lunch too. * Suitable shoes for walking/hiking, there are paths and also grassy fields, there may be some mud. * Clothes: the weather can be variable at this time of year, could be anything from rain to strong sunshine or a mix of both! **Meeting up:** I suggest we try to meet close to the paddock (before the start line) in the morning, although this can be noisy when the engines are started. I will create a WhatsApp group for participants. **Getting there:** * By car, there are temporary car parks in the fields typically on the north end of the site. Look for Bahnhof Rudolfstetten on your SatNav and then follow the signs to the car parks. * By public transport, travel to Bahnhof Rudolfstetten near Berikon & Widen, for example from Zürich HB, zou could take the S12 towards Brugg at 09:14, followed by he S17 at Dietikon at 09:33 to Rudolfstetten. * Please be aware this will be a very busy public event and you may need to queue to buy tickets to get in, so allow time to arrive and meet the group.

Duty vs. Results: What Makes an Action Moral?
Duty vs. Results: What Makes an Action Moral?
When judging morality, should we prioritize **intentions/duty** or **outcomes/results**? It introduces two influential philosophers as representatives of these approaches. * **Immanuel Kant (deontology):** An action is moral when it is done from **duty** and follows rational, universal principles (the **categorical imperative**). Certain acts—like lying—are wrong regardless of the consequences; you can’t do a wrong thing for a right reason. * **John Stuart Mill (utilitarian consequentialism):** The morality of an action is determined by its **effects**, specifically how much **happiness/well-being** it produces. Mill argues that some pleasures are “higher” than others, and that good intentions don’t redeem harmful outcomes. ## Discussion Questions 1. **The lying dilemma:** A murderer comes to your door and asks if your friend is hiding inside. Kant would say you must not lie. 2. **Can good intentions rescue a bad outcome?** 3. **The organ harvest problem:** A surgeon has five patients dying of organ failure and one healthy patient in for a checkup. Killing the one to harvest organs would save five lives, and the math works out for the utilitarian. Why does this feel so deeply wrong? Is that feeling a point in Kant's favor, or just a bias we should overcome? 4. **Do rules need exceptions?** Kant insists moral rules must be universal, with no exceptions. But most of us can imagine extreme scenarios where any rule seems like it should bend. Does the need for exceptions fatally undermine deontology, or is the strength of the system precisely that it refuses to bend? 5. **Who gets to calculate the consequences?** Utilitarianism asks us to maximize good outcomes, but we're notoriously bad at predicting consequences. If we can't reliably know the results of our actions, is it practical to base our entire moral system on outcomes? Does this uncertainty push us back toward rules and principles? 6. **Everyday morality:** Think about a real moral decision you've made recently, even a small one. Did you reason more like a Kantian (what's the right thing to do in principle?) or more like a utilitarian (what will produce the best result?)? Do most people naturally lean one way? 7. **Justice vs. the greater good:** A town can prevent a deadly plague by sacrificing one innocent person. The greater good is clearly served. But is it just? Can an action be morally right and deeply unjust at the same time? 8. **The big synthesis question:** Are these two systems actually opposed, or do they often arrive at the same answers by different paths? Is it possible that we need both: rules to guide us in the moment and consequences to evaluate systems and policies over time?

Mindful Photography Walk – A Gentle Pause in Nature
Join me for a small, mindful photography walk in nature. (**NOTE Time is 9:00 AM EST(Meetup is having technical Issue))** This is a slow, intentional gathering — not focused on fitness or perfect photography — but on simply pausing, observing, and being present.
