Meet at Cafe Bliss, opposite the lovely Lancox Park in Mavis Street, just off Milroy St. We'll walk through Lancox Park and then along the Elster Creek Trail. Returning to Bliss Cafe for coffee and a chat, the usual 1 hr round trip. There are many seats along the way if you don't feel like doing the whole walk. Social Bouldering Night at BlocHaus Port Melbourne
Let’s meet for a casual evening of indoor bouldering at BlocHaus Port Melbourne. Bouldering is climbing on shorter walls with padded mats, without ropes or harnesses. BlocHaus describes it as a social activity that can be done with or without a partner, and their first-time page says beginners can come along and hire what they need in-house. We’ll meet near reception at 6:30pm, do a short warm-up/pre-workout, then start climbing around 7:00pm. You can climb as much or as little as you like, take breaks, watch others climb, or work on problems together. This is not a competition or a formal coaching session. Everyone is responsible for climbing within their own ability and following BlocHaus rules/staff instructions. **Who this is for** * Beginner-friendly and suitable for people who want a relaxed social climb. * Experienced climbers are also welcome, especially if you are happy to climb casually and help keep the vibe friendly. * Solo attendees are very welcome. An interesting place to visit and photograph and we will take a nice walk to the Yarran Dheran National Park not far from this cottage. WHEN: **Every Sunday** MEET TIME: **8:50am** START TIME: **9:00am** MEET LOCATION: **Jells Park, Wheelers Hill** (Meet outside of the "T House at Jells" Cafe) DISTANCE: **5km** DIFFICULTY: **Easy** COST: **Free** **ABOUT THIS WALK** Come along for our free weekly Jells Park Social Walk, a relaxed and scenic Sunday morning walk through one of Melbourne’s most loved parks. We’ll meet at Jells Park "T House at Jells" Cafe and set off at 9:00am (sharp) for an easy paced social walk through beautiful open parkland, peaceful walking trails and lakeside surrounds. This walk is designed to be enjoyable, welcoming and suitable for a wide range of fitness levels, with plenty of fresh air, great conversation and a relaxed community vibe. The total walk is approximately 5km and is expected to take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the group and pace. After the walk, anyone who would like to can stay around for a coffee and chat. This walk goes ahead rain, hail or shine. **WHAT TO EXPECT** Expect an easy, friendly and social walk with a relaxed pace. Jells Park offers a great mix of scenic lake views, open green spaces, birdlife and well formed walking paths, making it a perfect setting for a Sunday morning stroll. This walk is all about connection, movement and starting the day well. **WHO CAN COME** Everyone is welcome. Whether you come on your own, with a friend, or you’re brand new to Social Walks, we’d love to have you join us. **WHAT TO BRING** * Water * Comfortable walking shoes * Weather appropriate clothing * A hat and sunscreen if it’s sunny * A rain jacket if wet weather is forecast **PUBLIC TRANSPORT** Jells Park is best accessed by car. Sunday Bus: Sugarloaf Reservoir - Christmas Hills - 13.5km and 18.5km - 28 June
**WALK DESCRIPTION:** Come join 25+ of our members who will also do this circular route around Sugarloaf Reservoir, east of Melbourne near Yarra Glen. It is on the land of the Wurundjeri Traditional owners. The track undulates with small rises and falls and follows the curves of the reservoir. There is one larger hill climbing only 100m. This said, there are enough ups and downs to feel like you have done a good walk. The track passes through both grassland and forest, and all on track (except a short side trip to Plover Point on the Medium walk). There are beautiful views of the water and the city of Melbourne in the distance. Expect large numbers of kangaroos and delightful bird song. It's a lovely area. Both walks start at the same time at the Ridge Picnic ground at the north of the reservoir and walk in a clockwise circuit around the reservoir. The track is clearly marked with orange poles. There are two side trips to Plover Point (Medium walk only) and Eagle Point (both walks, possible lunch spot) which offer a different view and forest type. The shorter walk ends after 15km at Saddle Point picnic area where the bus will wait and the longer walk continues for another 3.2km flat walk across the curves of the dam wall back to the starting point of the Ridge Car park, where the bus will meet us. There are toilets at both the start and finish picnic areas. The Sugarloaf reservoir was completed in 1981 by the construction of dam and has a catchment area of 915 hectares and supplies water to many areas of Melbourne. It is treated at the nearby Winneke Water Treatment plant. Please carry at least 2 litres of water and bring a change of shoes for the trip back. . **DISTANCE(S):** 13.5km and 18.5km . **TOTAL ASCENT(S):** 150m Rise and 180m Rise . **GRADINGS:** Easy/Medium and Medium **Easy/Medium (E/M):** More consistent walking, mostly on tracks or in open country, but with some significant hills, probably some stretches of light scrub. Possibility of some rock hopping. Distances up to 19km but may be much shorter depending on the difficulty of the terrain. Reasonable lunch and rest stops. **Medium (M):** Consistent walking on tracks or in open bushland, usually with patches of thicker scrub, several moderate climbs, and/or rock hopping. Distances up to about 22kms with reasonable rest stops. A good level of fitness and walking experience is required. **.** **PLEASE NOTE:** Your RSVP on MeetUp lets us know who may be interested but does not add you to the booking list. To register and pay for the walk you must visit our clubrooms (details below). Come join our many members who will also do this walk! . **HOW TO BOOK AND PAY:** (a) Visit the Melbourne Bushwalkers' clubrooms on either of the two Wednesday evenings before the walk, speak to the leader and, if it is agreed to walk, make a payment to secure your place on the bus. (b) To cancel a Sunday Walk booking before 4pm on the Thursday before the walk, send a note to sunday@mbw.org.au. A credit will be issued for a future walk. (c) To cancel a Sunday Walk booking after 4pm on the Thursday before the walk contact the walk leader direct. You should be given the walk leader contact details at the time of booking. (d) The costs for the walk are $30 bus fare plus $10 visitor fee if you are not a paid-up Member of Melbourne Bushwalkers. . **OUR CLUBROOMS:** Our clubrooms are located at The Mission to Seafarers Victoria, 717 Flinders Street, Docklands. We do not regularly check the MeetUp site for messages and the above address will get a faster response. **.** **CAN I MEET AT THE START OF THE WALK?** No! Since Sunday Bus walks are generally walks starting and finishing at two widely separated locations we do not accept walkers meeting at the start of the walk. There is no way for them to get back to their transport. We can arrange for a pick-up and drop-off at a designated location along the route closer to Melbourne, however, the full bus fee is still payable since a seat has to be kept free on the bus. . **IMPORTANT TO KNOW:** Registration (membership) on Meetup is not the same as paid-up Membership of MBW. (c) Sign an Acknowledgement of Risk form and pay the visitor fee (10) and bus fee (30) to reserve a seat on the bus.
