Thanks to everyone who joined for the latest event on Zora Neale Hurston’s *Their Eyes Were Watching God*. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend myself as I was ill, but I’m very glad to hear that the discussion went well. A special thanks to Clark for sending me the information about which book was chosen as the next one. The next book to read is the Greek classic *[Zorba the Greek](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zorba_the_Greek)* (1946) by [Nikos Kazantzakis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikos_Kazantzakis). My apologies for putting the next event up later than usual. Set on the island of Crete, the novel follows an intellectual narrator who meets the larger-than-life Alexis Zorba — a man driven by instinct, passion, and a deep love of life. What unfolds is both a philosophical and deeply human story about freedom, friendship, and what it means to truly live. A short description of the book reads: *A classic of modern Greek literature, Zorba the Greek contrasts the life of the mind with the life of action, as the narrator is drawn into Zorba’s vibrant, impulsive worldview. Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs. This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context. We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy.
