Meaningful Afterwork: "Why Not Try Peace For A While?"
Join us for a Meaningful Afterwork exploring how we can become true practitioners of peace in our immediate environment!
**🕊️ Meaningful Afterwork: "Why Not Try Peace For A While?"**
Dearest participants,
We would love to invite you to our upcoming ***Meaningful Afterwork*** on **Friday, 23rd January**, hosted at the **Bahá’í Centre** in **Luxembourg City**.
The Theme: **"Why Not Try Peace For A While?"**
*"2nd August. Germany has declared war on Russia. — Swimming lessons in the afternoon."* This was Franz Kafka’s diary entry in 1914, the day the First World War began. It is a poignant reminder of two things: first, that our individual lives continue even amidst global upheaval; and second, that while conflict may have hindered humanity’s journey toward maturity in the past, it by no means determines our future.
Like Kafka, we do not lose our agency during dark or trying times. At this ***Meaningful Afterwork***, we want to explore the lights in our everyday lives that illumine the path to peace. How can we cultivate **tranquility and lightness within ourselves** and **radiate it into the world around us**? And even more importantly, how can we become **true practitioners of peace in our immediate environments**?
We will explore these questions through a series of short, thought-provoking excerpts from the **Bahá’í Writings**.
The Details:
* 📅 **Date:** Friday, 23rd January
* ⏰ **Time:** 6:30pm
* 📍 **Location:** 17, Allée Léopold Goebel, Luxembourg City
In case you have further questions, feel free to contact us via email ([meaningfulafterwork@gmail.com](https://meaningfulafterwork@gmail.com "https://meaningfulafterwork@gmail.com")).
Warmly,
Your Meaningful Afterwork Team
P.S.: The Meaningful Afterworks are organized for young professionals, participants should therefore ideally be between 25 and 40 years old – thank you for your understanding 🙏🏼

Let's play trivia on 23 January -- to support the Telstar Scout Group !
Let's play trivia for a good cause on Friday 23 January after work!
The Telstar International Scout Group is a Luxembourg-based member of the UK Scout Association and the Luxembourg Scout Federation. Adorable local scouts will help to run the evening, and our fees will help support the club!
The building is located in Cents, with parking available nearby. Homemade hot food will be for sale, along with baked goods and a bar with wine, beer, soft drinks, etc. There are tons of prizes offered for the winning teams (and sometimes consolation prizes for the not-so-winning ones!)
We have two tables of 6 reserved for our group. Questions will be from a wide range of categories! We are guaranteed a fun time :)
The quiz starts at 19:00, so please aim to be there around 18:30.
**I have already paid for all the seats, so please contact me for payment!** Thanks and see you there!

Hike in Schoenfels (12 km)
This is around 3 hours hike (10-12km) around the historical site of Château de Schoenfels. There's 260m elevation gain, which makes it fun and brings the view in :)
We'll have a short tea-coffee break along the way, to warm up a bit.
Hike Junglinster J3 (ca. 14km)
Hello,
What is on the menu for this Sunday? Junglinster Trail J3! The trail is new to me.
We will start in Junglinster heading direction Blumendall and back. We have a nice mix of forests and fields. I counted on the map 4 slopes uphill. But for people like us, they seem to not be really challenging.
Lunchbreak? Of course! I will look for a nice spot as usual after ½ or ⅔ of the trail.
Public Transport? Bus 201 direction Echternach at 10:10 from Limpertsberg, Theater. The bus is NOT from Gare Centrale. Leave at the bus stop "Junglinster Op de Fréinen". The meeting point is close to the bus stop.
Parking? Near the meeting point.
Carpool? https://groupcarpool.com/t/mwrckh
I hope to see many of you on Sunday.
Jörg
Disclaimer: The hike is at your own risk. Come prepared (water, clothes, food...). Know your limits. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

\*You can use any debit or credit card to purchase your ticket at PayPal checkout. It will ask you for your email address but that is only to send you a receipt. You do not need a PayPal account.
TICKETS:-
Early Bird - €5 / person
Regular Ticket - €10 / person
Cash at meetup: If you do not purchase a ticket in advance then you can pay Silvia cash of €15 when you attend.
**Here’s how our Fast Friending works:-**
\- We will meet at 7\.00 and have time to get settle down and get a drink\.
\- From about 7\.30 to 8\.30 we will run the fast friending system\. Half of the group \(mixed gender\) will stay in a fixed place and the other half of the group \(mixed gender\) will be asked to rotate\. During these intervals\, each pair of people will get the opportunity to talk to each other\.
\- Silvia will be hosting the evening and she will organize the fast friending process\. She will indicate when you should move to the next person\.
\- From 8\.30 onwards we will stop the system and people will have to chance go chat and interact with those they have met as well as others\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Silvia will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable. All attendees are also welcome to bring a lady friend along with them for free. This will make it a lot less stressful for you as you will always have your friend alongside.
\- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\!
\- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\.
\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 25 to 45 age group\. While some will be at the younger end of this range there will also be others at the other end of the range and lots in\-between\! You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\.
\- We are not a dating group\. Our events are not organised to manage your dating life\. Our group is created to help ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. Please do not attend our event if a perfect gender balance is important for your enjoyment of our meet\-up\.
Why do we have tickets?
1. Cover our costs - Our host is compensated for their time and work. We also pay meetup and have dedicated staff to manage our events, hosts, venues and communication.
2. Group Safety - By securing your ticket we have a record and you contribute to a well organized evening where everyone is more committed and better behaved.
3. Management - Tickets help us better manage attendee group size, book suitable space and activity.
