AWS Community GameDay Europe
AWS Community GameDay Europe
**AWS Community GameDay Europe is coming!** Strategy. Fun. Collaboration. We will join \~**50 User Groups across Europe** for a unique event: an **international, synchronized AWS Community GameDay**, powered by the European AWS community. 🧩 **A custom set of challenges makes this GameDay one of a kind** Get hands-on with **AI, security and cloud-native** challenges — no slides, no tutorials. A common scoreboard with global and local prices. Come with a friend, a team, or solo - we’ll form teams of **2 to 4 people on site**. **What is an AWS GameDay?** An AWS GameDay is a team-based, competitive learning experience that transforms cloud training into an immersive, high-energy event. Unlike traditional workshops where participants follow step-by-step instructions, GameDay drops teams into a live AWS environment with real infrastructure—often broken, misconfigured, or under attack—and challenges them to figure out solutions on their own. **What makes it a unique experience** * No step-by-step guides—teams must explore, experiment, and problem-solve * Real AWS accounts with actual running infrastructure (EC2, Lambda, S3, databases) * Time pressure creates urgency and forces prioritization decisions * Competitive leaderboard visible to all teams drives engagement * Points lost for poor decisions (overspending, downtime, security gaps) teach consequences **Format** Teams of 2-4 people compete over 2 hours. Each team receives access to their own AWS environment with pre-deployed infrastructure. **⚠️⚠️⚠️ BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP ⚠️⚠️⚠️** Registration closing on March 13th!!! **Note:** Because there are some global limitations on the number of attendees, is better if you register before March 10th. **AGENDA** **📅** Tuesday, March 17th 🕔 17:00 Doors open ➖ 17:15 15-minutes session to get familiar with the AWS Web Console ➖ 17:45 Teams composition 🚀 18:00 Game starts! All locations connected live across Europe, we’ll kick off together, on time. 🎉 20:30 Global and local winners with prices 🍕🥤 Pizza and drinks offered during the event 📍 RedHat Office Switzerland (1St. Floor) **Compete live with AWS User Groups across Europe, all playing the same scenario at the same time.** Full list of locations: [https://www.awsgameday.eu/](https://www.awsgameday.eu/) **NOTE**: if you join our meetup group for the first time, remember also to reply to this event RSVP! **Attendees that didn't registered properly** providing the required information **cannot participate to the game** (we/AWS need time to prepare cloud environments)

From Reading to Recommending - an Introduction to NarraLune by Stefanie Wedel
From Reading to Recommending - an Introduction to NarraLune by Stefanie Wedel
As a lifelong bookworm and serial note-taker, our speaker Stefanie spent years collecting insights from literary podcasts, magazine previews, and personal reading lists. Things got even more interesting with the discovery of reading challenges, such as *“read a book with over 500 pages”* or *“a book featuring magical creatures that aren’t dragons.”* The result of trying to organize all of this? **NarraLune** — a Python-based application designed to connect a curated book database with an intelligent matching framework. In this talk, we’ll explore how NarraLune: * Uses structured SQL filtering to manage and query book data * Applies genre inference to enrich metadata * Integrates generative language models to recommend books for diverse and creative challenge prompts Stefanie will walk us through the concept and architecture of the system, share practical insights into Python and AI integration, and reflect on how personal interests can evolve into meaningful technical projects. No coding knowledge is required to follow the talk This meetup will take place in the reading room (Lesesaal) of Zentralbibliothek Zürich. **Agenda** 18:00 Arrival 18:15 Talk and discussion 19:15 Wrap up All genders welcome! We expect all participants of our meetup to abide by the PyLadies code of conduct: [http://www.pyladies.com/CodeOfConduct/](http://www.pyladies.com/CodeOfConduct/)

Join the GDG Cloud Zürich community for an evening of technical talks on Google Cloud, real-world insights, and networking with local practitioners. This meetup is intended for developers, architects, and engineers working with Google Cloud technologies. Agenda ⏰ 17:30: Doors open ⏰ 17:55: Doors close (late entry may not be possible due to building security) ⏰ 18:00: Welcome – Graham Polley, Thomas Hug, Filippo Broggini, Erin La, Alessandro Recca and Rachel Werner (organizers) ⏰ 18:05: Talk 1 – Fundamentals of securing your GCP workloads, Natalie Godec, Zencore ⏰ 18:35: Talk 2 – How Google SREs Use Gemini CLI to Solve Real-World Outages, Riccardo Carlesso & Ramón Medrano Llamas, Google ⏰ 19:05: Networking & Apéro – Supported by Google Cloud, Zencore, ABB, and Datwave Talk details Talk 1 Title: Fundamentals of securing your GCP workloadsSpeaker: Natalie Godec, ZencoreDescription: So you've vibe-coded your Super Smart AI Agentic App and are ready to set it free on the Internet. You are sure it will do well, it solves this amazing use-case, with such clever technology! You pick your favourite cloud provider, decide on a runtime - perhaps, Kubernetes or Cloud Run - buy a domain, ask Gemini to wire up a deployment pipeline. Happy days! But here's the thing. You can't vibe-code security. Every single thing you deploy to the cloud needs to be secured. And it's a hard task! Even for cybersecurity professionals. But fret not. Cloud providers, such as Google Cloud, have already put in the work to make your job easier. And in this talk, you will learn the fundamentals of securing your workloads, (almost) end-to-end. Talk 2 Title: How Google SREs Use Gemini CLI to Solve Real-World OutagesSpeaker: Riccardo Carlesso & Ramón Medrano Llamas, GoogleDescription: Google Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) use Gemini CLI to accelerate mitigation during live production outages. Acting as a tightly constrained, terminal-based agent, it uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to integrate live operational data. This allows operators to quickly triage alerts, execute human-approved fixes, pinpoint codebase bugs, and generate automated postmortems, ultimately eliminating toil and speeding up recovery. ZH3 Hash # 1715: Saddam 40th Year Hashiversary
ZH3 Hash # 1715: Saddam 40th Year Hashiversary
40th years of torturing hashers: Saddam 40th Year Hashiversary Code share hash with WSH3's event. Meet at Winterthur Bahnhof, leave clothes in a locker. On after at the Scotsman pub Hare: Saddam. The trail has something for everyone - long for runners, with big short cuts for walkers. No desert, unfortunately, but there will be some other difficult terrain. Background. The person now known as Saddam started hashing in Baghdad, Iraq in March 86. At the time Iraq was a dictatorship at war, so there were occasional disturbances from stone-throwing locals, armed police and Iranian Scud missiles. Hopefully none of these turn up in Winterthur. Hopefully no flesh eating camel spiders either. WHEN? Meet at 1:45pm to start at 2:00pm. There will be a charge of CHF5.00 for participating. /\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*/ Here's what you need to know about the Hash: **All Welcome:** If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know: • Physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful. • The aim is to find the 'Beer Stop' at the end of the 'trail' and have fun. • 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running) and some over-achieving fast runners will go further. • The 'Hare', which changes each event, cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time. • There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change. • After Trail, we group for \~30-45 minutes for drinks, snacks and some fun. This 'Circle' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). **Why bother leaving your warm sofa?** If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. 'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (Hashs) in most major cities. Its humour and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.* We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.
