Ping Pong

We have taken more than a year off due to the pandemic. Our old favorite cafe in Bethesda is now closed so lets try the Panera Bread down the street on Wisconsin Ave. Please come and join us for some double deck pinochle, assuming (of course) that you have been inoculated for Covid-19 and you are willing to follow the current guidelines of the business on mask wearing. We will start the first game about 6 pm. We play 300 point games so the second game will likely start just after 7 pm, and we will rotate tables if we have more than 4 players. Card players of all level are welcome. We play primarily 4-handed double deck Pinochle but other variants are have been tried on occasion. Games go from 6 pm until Panera closes, which currently is 9 pm. This event is scheduled to repeat every other Wednesday night. Please don't wait until the last minute to RSVP.

These Meetups are co-ed, super laid back, and all skill levels are welcome. *Thank you to everyone who came out to the inaugural meeting of Hwatu Hangout in January! It was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all again and hopefully some new faces as well\~* 😊 **FOR BEGINNERS** If you've ever seen Korean movies or K-dramas, you may have seen characters play with small red cards decorated with flowers and animals. Those cards are called "hwatu" or flower cards. The most popular game played with hwatu is "Go-Stop". Come to this next Hwatu Hangout (Plum Blossom Edition!), and learn how to play this awesome game. It can take some time to orient yourself with the cards and rules, but once you do, there's no turning back. It's major fun. **FOR EXPERIENCED PLAYERS** No Tazza-style deck rigging or hand chopping. Most importantly, *no gambling*. We may play with plastic chips to raise the faux stakes, but that's it! Some people have expressed interest in playing in Fairfax. Lets set up another game that repeats every 2 weeks at Fairfax Town Center. Look for the group with cards somewhere in the center tables. We play alomost exclusively double deck pinochle. All levels of play are welcome from beginner to expert. We will teach and coach new players.

KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot opened in November. I have not eaten there but have a 20% off coupon for groups of 8 or more.
