š Books & Social šø
šReading books and discussing them are two distinct experiences! Conversations about books and sharing insights help us better appreciate literature and enrich our lives.
Let's grab a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and discuss books we're currently reading or have recently enjoyedāwhether poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. Bring your physical book or e-reader.
There's no formal structure or agendaājust books and good conversation.š¬
It's a perfect place to get book recommendations and rediscover your reading momentum if you've hit a slump. We welcome readers of all backgrounds and interests!
ā ļø**Something Happened?**
If something unpleasant happened to you, it may happen to others. Even if it seems minor, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
š **How to find us?**
* When I reach the venue, I'll leave a comment in the meetup where the group is seated. Normally, the booking is in my name, so you can ask the staff for the group.
* If you're unable to find us, leave a comment in the meetup page. I'll be able to guide you.
We highly encourage you to move between tables and strike up conversations with fellow book lovers. These discussions about literature and reading recommendations are often the highlight of the event!
As an organizer, I'm always looking for feedback about the event and suggestions for new events, so feel free to suggest ideas to me. š”
I look forward to seeing you all! š

Hello Everyone!
Let's read something before coming to the event. It can be a few pages from a book, an article, a poem, an advertisement, a joke, a recipe, a quote, social media content - anything you find interesting. We meet and chat about it, as a starting point of conversation.
Please feel free to bring books :)
Sunday boardgame meetup
Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street.
This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play.
The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day.
**IMPORTANT!**
**The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.**
Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested.
Any questions contact either of the organisers Gavin or Stephen.

The Matzah Ball by Jean Meltzer
I don't usually pick romance but I really wanted to do a Hanukkah book. It's a bit on the longer side but hopefully a quick read. The library only has 5 audiobooks so please try to remember to "release it" when you're done.

Book summary:
Rachel Rubenstein-Goldblatt is a nice Jewish girl with a shameful secret: she loves Christmas. For a decade sheās hidden her career as a Christmas romance novelist from her family. Her talent has made her a bestseller even as her chronic illness has always kept the kind of love she writes about out of reach.
But when her diversity-conscious publisher insists she write a Hanukkah romance, her well of inspiration suddenly runs dry. Hanukkahās not magical. Itās not merry. Itās not *Christmas*. Desperate not to lose her contract, Rachelās determined to find her muse at the Matzah Ball, a Jewish music celebration on the last night of Hanukkah, even if it means working with her summer camp archenemyāJacob Greenberg.
Though Rachel and Jacob havenāt seen each other since they were kids, their grudge still glows brighter than a menorah. But as they spend more time together, Rachel finds herself drawn to Hanukkahāand Jacobāin a way she never expected. Maybe this holiday of lights will be the spark she needed to set her heart ablaze.

December Book Club/White Elephant Book Exchange
Welcome, readers! āļø
Our December read is **_A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella._**
A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella is a tender, character-driven novel that follows three people in a small Pennsylvania town as they each cope with loss and seek connection. Chuck, a widower, struggles to find meaning after his wifeās death; Ella, a young woman, faces the heartbreak of her missing daughter; and Kirsten, a veterinary technician, grieves her father while contemplating her future. Their stories intertwine gently, revealing how grief and hope coexistāand how even small acts of kindness can help people rediscover purpose and peace in the aftermath of tragedy.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
At this meeting, our third annual White Elephant book exchange will take place!
If you'd like to participate, bring a gift-wrapped book that you already own. On the gift wrap, write the genre of the book.
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! š
