⚠️🚨🚨The author will be with us in June! The Girl with the Louding Voice, published in 2020, tells the story of a 14-year-old girl promised to a forced marriage with an old man in her village. Despite numerous obstacles, she fights to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher and empowering other young girls facing the same fate. The novel partly written in Pidgin is both funny and inspiring. The sequel to this first book was published in 2024. It is named « And So I Roar ». Abi Daré is a award-winning author. Her debut novel The Girl with the Louding Voice won the Bath Novel Award in 2018 before it was published, and was shortlisted for several prizes for first novels, including the Desmond Elliott Prize. More recently, her second novel And So I Roar won the inaugural Climate Fiction Prize, a major international award recognising outstanding climate-themed fiction. Both books are available in Luxembourg librairies!

You will be guided by Yemin Yin, a recognized artist trained in London and Canton. Her ink paintings are found in collections worldwide. Hello Friends! This weekend, the traditional "Marche de l'Armée" will take place in Diekirch. Also known as the "Marche Internationale de Diekirch" or "March Militaire" or "Will I ever be able to walk on these feet again", it was initially an event organized by the Luxembourg Military, with participating groups from the French, Belgian, and German armies. At some point, private citizens joined, and it became an event officially open to the public. That's what the legend says, and we will probably not know much more, because even the "history of the walk" page on the official website only elaborates endlessly on the life of "John the Blind, count of Luxembourg", who was chosen for the emblem and logo of this event, but nothing else than that it took place for the first time in 1968 :) Whoever knows more about the history of this event may comment in the comments or talk during the walk. We're going to start at the official starting point at the "Cultural complex Al Seeërei“ close
to the train station. There will be no trains this weekend, and there are not many replacement buses that go directly from somewhere. One of them is L10 from Limpertsberg, going directly, but stopping "everywhere". Please join us the 3rd Wednesday of each month to learn more about the Columbus Ski Club and what we have to offer. Pizza, wings and a variety of appetizers provided. We are a non-profit organization founded in 1958 with over 800 members. The club has grown beyond the single mission of providing members with not only quality skiing events but also year round social and sport activities. Our gatherings are an opportunity for members and non-members to interact and learn about the many activities offered such as euchre, billiards, volleyball, pickleball, tennis, bowling, golf & softball leagues along with ski and non-ski trips. Our members also plan group activities such as visits to wine tastings, bike trips, comedy clubs, concerts, plays and local sports games, etc. CSC membership is not required to belong to the Meetup group. Membership is required in order to participate in most club activities (CSC member).
