🍔🍦 DANFORTH BURGER & ICE CREAM WALK! 🍦🍔
🍔🍦 DANFORTH BURGER & ICE CREAM WALK! 🍦🍔
A Summer Evening Stroll, One of Toronto's Most Underrated Burgers & Giant Ice Cream Scoops
Sometimes the best events are the simplest ones.
Join us for a relaxed summer evening walk along the Danforth as we make our way from Main Street Station to Broadview Station,
enjoying one of Toronto's most vibrant neighbourhoods along the way.
This isn't about rushing from place to place. It's about getting outside, enjoying the evening, meeting new people, and sharing a couple of local favourites that many Torontonians still haven't discovered.
Our first stop will be Square Boy, a true Danforth institution that serves some of the most underrated burgers in Toronto. No fancy gimmicks. No social media hype. Just great burgers that locals have loved for decades. 🍔 They are soo goo that they ONLY TAKE CASH!
After we've eaten, we'll walk across the street to Kawartha Dairy for dessert. If you've never been before, prepare yourself.
The scoops are legendary.
Seriously.
Most first-time visitors cannot believe how much ice cream they give you. 🍦😄
Afterward, we'll continue our walk west along the Danforth toward Broadview Station, enjoying the neighbourhood, conversation, and hopefully a beautiful summer evening.

LCMP Session - 006
## **Let’s Make Something Real**
You’re invited to a **Music Production Session** of **Pure Creation.**
We’re stripping away the gatekeeping and the endless tutorials.
This isn’t a masterclass; it’s a digital jam session where the goal is to walk out with a track that has everyone’s DNA on it. Whether you’re a professional sound designer or you just bought your first MIDI controller yesterday, if you have ideas, we want them in the mix.
### **The Vibe**
* **Genre Agnostic:** From lo-fi beats and cinematic soundscapes to heavy techno or glitch—if it sounds good, it stays.
* **DAW Agnostic:** Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Bitwig? It doesn't matter. Use the tools that help you speak.
* **Creation Over Teaching:** We believe the best way to learn is by doing. You’ll pick up tricks by osmosis, but our primary mission is the "Export" button.
### **How It Works**
We’re keeping the workflow lean so we can stay in the flow state:
1. **Access:** Make sure to Register your spot on MeetUp as well as at [LCMP](lcmpbygoccai.com) to receive ***access links*** to all files as well as the ***final location*** for confirmed attendees. We’ll use a shared Dropbox folder to swap stems, loops, and one-shots in real-time.
**Note:** If you are not signed up on [LCMP](lcmpbygoccai.com) **and** MeetUp, you wont receive access.
2. **Bring Your Gear:** Laptop + DAW + Headphones + Charging Cable, Extension Cord (If you need it) Ensure you’re ready to make noise the moment you plug in.
3. **The Master Mix:** We’ll have a central project running.
4. **The Drop:** You create a part, share it, and watch the track evolve.
### **The Essentials**
* **Who:** Creatives, noisemakers, and rhythmic thinkers of all skill levels.
* **The Goal:** Ensure every person in the room makes a tangible contribution to the final piece.
* **The Energy:** High vibes, zero ego, and a shared love for digital alchemy.
**Ready to plug in?** We’re keeping these sessions intimate to ensure the best workflow. Location and final logistics will be sent once your spot is confirmed.

Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Let’s do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together.
Here’s how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and she’d like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
If you’re feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming!
Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone else’s project at this event!
Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event!
**Discord**:
We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event!
https://discord.gg/xwjDdVSw3E
**Event policy**:
* We have 0 tolerance for harassment.
* We don’t allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets.
* The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do.
* Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.
Coffee and (vibe)code
A meetup for talking about the frontier of ai, or just vibe coding if you’re into that. Also industry gossip, hiring trends, effective altruism + predictions for the future
Coffee meetup for shy and socially anxious people
Our coffee shop meetup now takes place every other Saturday. Come out to meet and chat with your fellow members of the Toronto Social Anxiety Support group in a supportive environment.

**When**: 5pm - 7pm
**Where to meet**: Alternity Café, just west of St. George Street, on the south side of Bloor. Vegan café with a chill vibe. Here is their website: https://alternity.ca/pages/our-place
**Reminder**: Like all our events, the group's code of conduct applies. Pls make this a successful outing by being courteous and respectful in language and behaviour, and supportive towards other members, especially those with higher anxiety.
**Covid/flu safety**: If you are sick or have recently been exposed to someone who is sick, pls use your judgement about attending this event. You can always come to the next event when you feel better.

You can sleep in on the Sesquicentennial (observed), we’re shifting to the following Friday.
But join the local UX community for a chat and some biscuits to catch up. If you were in CA for Figma Config, tell us all the lines and you can tell me how I can animate an SVG without coding it by hand, and why I’d even want to.

Columbus Code & Coffee 88 @ Improving
Columbus Code & Coffee is an inclusive, informal co-working session. People of all skill levels attend, and we love it that way. Many people (optionally) bring projects to work on, and many other people (optionally) socialize the entire time. It's entirely up to you!
**What to Expect at the Intro Circle**
\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~
Near the beginning of the event (1:30 pm), we do a standup:
* Organizer announcements, updates, and logistics
Round 1 - (7 secs max):
* Your name
* What you're working on
* What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
Round 3:
* Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool.
After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized! Feel free to work alone, pair up, attend one of our workshops/presentations, or mingle!
Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on.
That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable.
In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork.
This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it.
We’ll cover:
* Why “it looks good” is not enough
* How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints
* How to compare LLM outputs more systematically
* Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness
* How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results
* Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop
By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
