Este taller propone trabajar la relación entre política y forma en la literatura latinoamericana a partir de la lectura de fragmentos de Valeria Luiselli, Leila Guerriero, Alejandro Zambra, Elena Poniatowska y César Aira, junto con episodios del podcast 'Las Raras' y el desfile de Moschino sobre Argentina a cargo de Adrian Appiolaza. El eje estará puesto en cómo cada material organiza la experiencia a través de decisiones formales: la construcción de la voz, el uso del archivo, la disposición del relato, el montaje y el lugar desde donde se habla, para pensar la política no como tema sino como modo de configurar lo visible y lo decible. La propuesta incluye un trabajo sostenido de escritura: se ensayarán variaciones de una misma escena con cambios de voz y focalización, reescrituras a partir de materiales documentales, ejercicios de montaje entre registros distintos (crónica, testimonio, ficción), y prácticas que exploren el recorte, la omisión y la disposición del texto en la página. The main technique used during the session is hand-building giving you the option to make so many different things for yourself, friends or family - bowls, plates, sushi dishes, plants pots and much more. Beginners will be guided through the process of making things using techniques such as slab building, coiling, pinching, texturing, under-glazing and glazing. The more advanced will be free to create and those with experience throwing would be welcome to use my wheel (to be reserved in advance). Those of you who would like to learn about glazing would need to book 2 workshops. The workshops are run in English but I do speak Catalan and Spanish. Todo lo que necesitas es algo para escribir y ganas de pasar un rato agradable compartiendo tu interés por las palabras. Sobremesa de Escritura es un espacio para escribir sin prisa, compartir el silencio creativo y dejar que las palabras encuentren su camino. Durante tres horas nos reuniremos para crear en compañía, en un entorno tranquilo y acogedor. La sesión comenzará con una consigna o una lectura que sirva como disparador creativo. A partir de ahí, cada participante desarrollará su propio texto a su ritmo. Durante toda la tarde habrá palabras, ejercicios, libros y otros materiales de apoyo para quienes necesiten un impulso, una pausa o un cambio de rumbo. This meetup is for anyone—anyone at all—who enjoys playing around with words. You’ll be given a prompt (usually one word, such as “playground” or “shiver”) and time to express yourself in writing in response to it. Anything goes: prose, poetry, lists, letters, lyrics; any form which calls to you and demands expression. After we have finished writing, you will be invited to share your piece with the group (totally optional, but the feedback can be fun). The feedback (this is the only part with rules): Responses should be in the form of what stayed with you, what you remembered from the piece, what resonated with you. This is NOT a writing or craft class; there is no good or bad here. Critiques or suggestions miss the point. This is new, tender writing, and we honor it as such. All writing is considered fictional. This is liberating for the writer, as you are free to write about literally anything and it will never be considered to be “about you.” The first person is always just a character. **Materiales incluidos \| Taller de 3 horas** English ↓↓↓ Bienvenidos al taller de grabado utilizando tetrapak y acetato. Esta vez emplearemos una prensa profesional que nos permite trabajar en formatos de hasta 40 × 80 centímetros. El precio incluye todos los materiales: puntas secas, papel de grabado, acetato, uso de la prensa y una gran variedad de material de referencia para inspirarse. El grabado es un lenguaje visual en el que la imagen se construye de manera indirecta, a través de la incisión, la presión y la repetición. La técnica de punta seca permite acercar el grabado a la sencillez del dibujo, manteniendo al mismo tiempo las cualidades pictóricas de la impresión. La transparencia del acetato, además, permite superponer y repetir imágenes con precisión, creando composiciones personales y elegantes. This time we will be working with a professional printing press, allowing us to produce prints up to 40 × 80 cm in size. The workshop fee includes all materials: drypoint tools, printmaking paper, acetate plates, use of the press, and a wide selection of reference material for inspiration. Printmaking is a visual language in which the image is constructed indirectly through incision, pressure, and repetition. The drypoint technique brings printmaking close to the simplicity of drawing while preserving the rich, tactile qualities of the printed image. The transparency of acetate also allows images to be layered and repeated with precision, creating personal and elegant compositions. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary.
