Skeptics in the Pub Toronto - In-Person Event
The Association for Science and Reason will be holding our regular in-person Skeptics in the Pub event. (Monthly Zoom meetings will continue as usual, but we will also be doing monthly in-person events on the second Tuesday of every month).
Our previous venue, Prenup Pub, has closed, so we will meet again this month at the Town Crier Pub, 115 John St, a 9 minute (600m) walk from St Andrew Station. It has very good food and a large seletion of beer. It was quite noisy the last two times we were there, but we'll give it another try to see what it is like this time. I have not yet found a better location.
We will get together for a social event to say hello to people we may have only met on-line and to reconnect with some long-time acquaintances. We will not be having a presentation or a speaker, just a chance to sit down and have a meal and/or a beverage and a conversation with a pleasant group of fellow skeptics.
Food and beverages are available from the menu. Foods include a full menu from soups and appetizers to entrées and dessert. The beverage menu includes over 50 different beers on tap, many bottled beers, a selection of wines, various cocktails, and as well as non-alcoholic drinks.
When you arrive, just ask where the "Skeptics" are. If you plan on joining us, please register so we can estimate the number of attendees.

Networking Event for Professionals - Apr 15th, 2026
### The Hip Haus presents: [Professionals Networking Event](https://thehiphaus.com "https://thehiphaus.com")! Hosted at Isabelle's
###
\*\*\*\* What is The Hip Haus? \*\*\*\*The Hip Haus is an organization that exists to empower young and experienced professionals alike in the GTA and help the growth of local business. As professionals (especially post pandemic world) it is sometimes difficult to network with other like minded individuals, get good career advice or simply make connections with others you may be able to help or get help from. The Hip Haus is committed to providing social gatherings in an atmosphere where such networking can take place.
\*\*\*\* Who Should Attend? \*\*\*\*The Hip Haus events are ***19+***. The focus however is the growth and development of professionals in the GTA. It doesn’t matter if you are a business owner, have a job, are looking for a job, recently graduated university/college, still in university/college, looking for others to launch a new idea or just want to meet other professionals, our events are for you.
Remember that Industry is Industry. One is not better than the other to The Hip Haus. We are expecting a diverse range of industry professionals. Our events in clude professionals from Tech & AI to Entrepreneurs, Musicians, Artists, Bankers, I.T Professionals, Accountants, Investors, Advertising/Marketing Professionals, Bloggers, Authors, Lawyers, Doctors, Dentists (This List Can Clearly Go On). ALL ARE WELCOME!
\*\*\*\* What to Expect at Our Events? \*\*\*\*Bring Business cards or have your LinkedIn QR code at the ready. Networking! That is the key to these events. Sure it can be a great place to hang out and have a beer with a few friends but it is important to come with an open mind to meet new people and make new connections. Build your network of friends/colleagues/advisors to help yourself as well as them. The Hip Haus wants the professionals of the GTA to come together to help foster personal and professional development.
\*\*\*\* Dress Code! \*\*\*\*This is a tricky one. There is NO strict dress code but remember this; you are meeting professionals in an informal manner and we all know first impressions last forever. Come dressed in a way that would allow you to be comfortable and professional according to your industry. Consider This…would a professional musician/artist necessarily dress the same as an investment banker at work? Be who you are or who you want to be.

Awakening to What's Here: Attuning to Self & Others
This is an online Sunday retreat to: **develop basic fluency** in the practices, concepts, and **language of spiritual experience** with like-minded people; **cultivate attunement** and connection with oneself and others; access flow states, embodied awareness, grounded and centered presence & consciousness; and taste the transcendent already present in the core of our being.
This workshop is for anyone who struggles to notice or articulate their subtle experience, and/or those who struggle to slow down, to drop out of drive gear into neutral; those wanting **out of the doing mode and enter into the being mode**; to awaken the inner source of meaning, value, purpose, connection, and wisdom; and to share that presence in relation to others.
We’ll move through a multi‑modal series of participatory practices across the DIME framework – Dialogical, Imaginal, Mindfulness, and Embodiment – as a foundation for a practical philosophy and intentional way of life.
Practices include: body scan meditation, mindful speaking and listening, focused and open awareness meditation, contemplation of a sacred text, invoking the spirit of a philosophically meaningful text, practices evoking a felt sense of “moreness” or “suchness”, other authentic relating groupwork and a creative self‑expression and self‑exploration practice.
**No prior experience is needed** – just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
**Duration:** 6.5hrs (with breaks)
### About your Facilitators
**Rick Repetti, PhD. -** Professor of Philosophy & VP of APPA
Rick’s list of credentials could justify it’s own page. Relative to this workshop, he’s a Philosophical Consultant, and Socratic Dialogue facilitator, faculty member of the Philosophical Practitioners Association of India, meditation instructor here at ATM, founding member of the CUNY Mindfulness and Contemplative Studies group, multiple decades practitioner and instructor of meditation and yoga, and 4th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. He’s also written things, many things, such as *Buddhism, Meditation and Free Will: A Theory of Mental Freedom* (Routledge 2019)
**Taylor Barratt -** Director at Awaken to Meaning, Integral Facilitator
As Director of Practice and Education with Awaken to Meaning, Taylor brings over 13 years of experience in facilitation, design, and training. Along with John, he has been a robust voice of guidance in the design and pedagogical execution of TIAMAT. He’s a certified Integral Facilitator and has co-designed the Socratic Search Space, Socratic Imaginal Self-Reflection as well as the pedagogical structures for Dialectic-into Dialogos
**Facilitation:** Rick Repetti & Taylor Barratt
Connection Labs Online (aka Crossroads & Connections)
### Each Crossroads & Connections workshop is a fast, friendly mash-up: short demos, paired practices and intentional reflection. We keep it light, embodied, and social—so wisdom lands in your muscles and your circle, not only your mind. There isn’t one technique that fixes everything, for everyone, in every situation.
### What is it?
We pair complementary domains to spark shared flow, fresh insight, and unforgettable “aha!” moments. You leave with lived skills, not just notes.
* **Dialogue** gets you out of solo spin: small-group formats expose blind spots and sharpen “shared reality,” so your next move matches *this* person and *this* moment.
* **Imaginal** practice is guided “as if” rehearsal you look *through*, not *at*: walking the beats before the scene means your body recognizes turns when stakes rise.
* **Mindfulness** steadies the camera: attention stops jerking around, drama gets de-amplified, and you can catch the instant you’re narrating motives and swap in one honest question.
* **Embodiment** makes it actionable through direct, non-verbal experience and how your inner experience matches your outer expression.
Facilitators: Varies
Fee: $30USD - Or a 10-pack for $200USD

Building Productive AI Agents: from Notion Agent to Founder-AI Execution
🚀 Join ProductTank Toronto for a night exploring how product people and founders are building **productive AI agents**—from configuring Notion agents to orchestrating systems that design, build, and ship real products.
This session is all about **execution**: how AI moves beyond experimentation into real workflows that extend your capacity and actually get things done.
If you've attended a Notion Toronto Community event before, you may already know our speakers. This time, they’re bringing their real-world AI practices to the ProductTank stage.
Featuring: [Dave Mence](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dave-mence/) and [Josh Gonsalves](https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshgonsalves94/)
## 🎤 **Dave Menceles, Program Ops Manager @ Notion**
***Quality In, Quality Out: Putting in the Human Work to Make AI Agents Shine***
**About Dave:**
Dave manages operations for a group of 120+ third-party Notion experts in one of Notion’s certified consultants programs. He leans on a handful of Notion Custom Agents to help him perform his day-to-day work that would otherwise extend way beyond his individual bandwidth.
**About his talk:**
Dave will share how his Q&A agent helps to support the members of his program with the deep program knowledge he’s imparted to the agent. He’ll also give an short guide on how to set up your own Notion Custom Agents that can work around the clock to perform helpful work on your behalf.
## **Josh Gonsalves, Founder @ Contraverse**
**AI That Builds AI: Orchestrating Agents Into a Real Product Team**
**About Josh:**
Josh is a Toronto-based founder building Formive, an AI platform for creating and sharing powerful AI tools and lead magnets without any code. His work focuses on turning AI into a leveraged system that can research, plan, build, and ship real products autonomously. He hasn’t written a single line of code. Instead, he directs AI systems that do.
**About his talk:**
Josh will break down how he uses AI coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor as a coordinated team of AI designers and engineers to build and ship a real product from scratch. He will show how Agent Skills, MCPs, and structured workflows enable these models to collaborate, handling everything from product research and planning to coding, review, bug fixing and shipping production-ready software.
This talk are especially **relevant for non-technical** founders and Product Managers. It demonstrates how you can create solid, production-ready software without being a traditional developer by directing systems instead of writing every line yourself.

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
• How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes.
• Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
• Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
• Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
• Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
• What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others?
• How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
• Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
• How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
• How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!

Tango & Milonga: Practice and Social in Dublin
We practice, dance, and enjoy a BYOB bottle of your favorite wine at the Dublin Ballroom off Sawmill, North, and “milonga” is a social event for tango dancing where dancers socialize. A “*practica*” is an informal social event for tango dancing where dancers focus on practicing the dance; while a “*practilonga*” combines the relaxed atmosphere of a “*practica*” with the format of a “milonga.” We are doing it all!
***Cost is $10 payable to the Teacher.*** *Cost is for the cost of the venue and covers some snacks.* We have had fun doing this event in the past. Please arrive promptly as lessons begin at 2pm. Don't worry about bringing a partner as there will be others at the event from outside the group that: a) might have a clue and b) won't step on your toes.
The event is BYOB (similar to our Salsa events), so bring your favorite and a wine glass. We will likely find a place for dinner and drinks after the dance.
