Coffee Connections
Coffee Connections
A casual (but coordinated) coffee break to meet new friends, take a Zoom break, and get your AM caffeine fix. Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Bring a friend or wander in solo. Come for the coffee and company, or just bring a book to read while surrounded by other in-real-life, community-seeking humans. Come by every Friday, or just when you happen to be in town. Make it whatever you need it to be that week. It's not an \*event\* per se, but we hope these Friday meet-ups can become a fixture of the bookshop! Gathering spot will be in the downstairs area of the bookshop (near the Community Library). Coffee and tea are 1.50€ and can be purchased at the cash register upstairs. Find more info on our Instagram (@backstorybookshop) or website (www.backstorybookshop.com).

Summer Writers' Retreat by Girls Who Write
Summer Writers' Retreat by Girls Who Write
**✍🏻 Run away with the Girls Who Write club this summer and make time for your writing – this will be a long weekend to remember!** Barcelona in the summer is the vibe...however, it gets really touristy, hectic and sticky...Imagine getting away from it all to a beautiful secret mansion to focus on your writing, while everything else is being taken care of! A long weekend to slow down, put pen to paper whenever you want, read by the pool – and meet like-minded women who love writing as much as you do. **Whether you're visiting or a local, this is the creative escape you need this summer.** 🏡 We are gathering in a perfect secret spot in Barcelona: far away from all the noise, but close enough to the center in case you want to get in and out on your own. Our beautiful hillside mansion features AC, pool and sauna – and nine individual rooms perfect for resting. You'll feel like you're away in nature...while being two metro stops away from all the buzz :) Here, nothing will distract you from writing! **📚 What you'll be working on?** Whether you're exploring self-discovery through journaling, crafting a memoir, creating short stories or poetry, or finally bringing that long-planned book to life, I aim to offer you a safe, nurturing space to connect with your words and creativity. Dive into cherished childhood memories, share fascinating anecdotes from your life that could inspire a captivating story, or pour your deepest emotions onto the page and witness how your perspective transforms. I believe every woman is a natural-born storyteller, and every girl's life is a compelling book waiting to be written. **Let’s uncover yours!** *What to expect:* 📝 **Journaling Workshops**: Dive deep into your emotions, memories and experiences through guided journaling sessions, unlocking the power of self-expression and introspection under the guidance of Marusha, founder of [Girls Who Write](http://www.girlswhowrite.club/), [Naked Words](https://mashamozolevskaya.com/mynakedwords) and Barcelona Journaling Festival. 📚 **Writing buffet:** try creating a memoir, a profound dialogue, a book character based on a person dear to your heart *(even if you don't have any book in the works yet!)* and explore some controversial topics in a safe, supportive community. 🌅 Sunrise SUP at Barceloneta. The most magical thing you can do in the summer in Barcelona – watch the sun rising from the horizon and waking up the city, while gently rocking on the waves. It's safe and fun! You don't even need to know how to swim. Bring your journal if you dare :) ✨ **Deep Connection to Self**: Throughout the day, immerse yourself in moments of stillness and self-discovery, cultivating a profound connection to your innermost being and fostering a sense of inner peace and alignment. We'll enjoy guided forest-bathing (sinrin-yoku) and embodiment sessions as well. 🍤 **Amazing food!** We'll be served lovely meals cooked by our private chef. The menu is Mediterranean, organic, and absolutely scrumptious! We'll take good care of you...while you write :) **Please read the full retreat description [here.](https://girlswhowrite.club/barcelona)** More info on what kind of workshops to expect, the price range, etc [www.girlswhowrite.club/barcelona](https://girlswhowrite.club/barcelona) *Barcelona residents get a special offer – please do not hesitate to message the organizer.* 🔥 Please note that there are two retreat dates available for this summer: **12-14 JUNE and 3-5 JULY.** Choose what fits your summer plans best and let us know when you'd like to come. Why Is Your Language Learning So Slow? (And How to Fix It)
Why Is Your Language Learning So Slow? (And How to Fix It)
When I moved to Barcelona, I worked long hours and somehow still couldn't find people to actually practice Spanish with. I tried courses. I tried Duolingo and Babbel. They all felt the same: awkward exercises about topics I didn't care about, completely disconnected from my real life. So I figured out my own method. It worked. I learned Spanish in 4 months, and I'm now accelerating my French, not in a classroom but by integrating the language into my daily life. That's exactly what I'm sharing in this free 1-hour session. **What you'll walk away with:** * Why traditional methods get you stuck at the intermediate level * The one thing that actually moves the needle (it's not more tutoring) * Daily practices you can start tomorrow - built around your life, not a textbook **Who's this for:** * You've been learning a language but got stuck somewhere between A2 and B2 * You want to actually use the language, not spend years chasing perfection * You're open to rethinking how you learn **Logistics:** We'll meet at Sandwichez to have a Coffee all together and talk about our language experience.

Hyptia Club — Collage Session
Hyptia Club — Collage Session
*These gatherings will be held in Catalan, as a way to give value to the language and empower everyone who wants to learn it.* *Just like in art, without pressure and from a place of respect.* **SEGUEIX-NOS A @hyptia_club**

Take Control Of Your Life, Freedom From Negative Thoughts & Irrational Emotions
Take Control Of Your Life, Freedom From Negative Thoughts & Irrational Emotions
Feeling down? Sometimes depressed? Can't focus? Negativity & stress? Recent losses? Creativity in career and personal life hindered by mental blocks? Sometimes we never fully recover from traumatic experiences. Whether it was yesterday, last week or a year ago, traumatic experiences - a loss of a loved one, losing a job, a breakup - can leave you scarred. You talk about it and feel a little better, but it never goes away. After you hang up the phone, it's still there; the sadness, the cloud, the over-thinking, the worry, the guilt. You try to focus, but you're blocked. You try to look forward into new experiences, new relationships but a cloud is hanging over you, casting a shadow on what you once considered a bright, cheerful future. What happened to your courage? Your strength of character? You're 'why not' attitude? Whoever said 'time heals' must have had a special time machine, because after weeks, months, years, you're wondering - when exactly does that kick in? Sometimes it seems like drinking or drugs are the way to go. But they wear off, and now the problem is still there with added side effects from the drugs. At this free local Meetup event we will talk about: * What causes grief, anxiety and depression to become chronic. * Is it possible to regain your joy and happiness even after traumatic experiences? * How to break away from negativity and focus on the future * What are the steps to take to get control of your mind and your emotions? Learn about a safe, gentle, do-it-yourself counseling that can be done in the comfort of your own home. Let's explore safe, effective solutions for healing from traumatic experiences. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to the event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center.
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have. Happy writing!

Free in-person event: Take Control of Your Mental Health
It’s time to take control of your mental health. How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp.
