Do you want to become a confident public speaker? To communicate better and connect? And have fun? Come and join Atomic Toastmasters. You'll find a supportive learn-by-doing environment. We have lovely Table Topic sessions (impromptu speeches) and 3 to 4 prepared speeches. Unlike most of our events, this is a more improvised one : some attendees bring their games, and we decide on the spot what we'll play. You may also post your ideas of what you want to bring/play in the comments, to gauge interest among the participants. Outpost opens at 11:30, so you may come from that time, but you can also come a bit later if you wish. **Please RSVP to this event if you wish to come**. Do not come without having done so. It makes it easier to plan that way. Although you can arrive at any time, **please post your estimated time of arrival in the comments**. It will make it easier to organise the tables that way. **Don't forget to unsubscribe from the event if you aren't able to come.** Someone else might take your place in that case. WHAT we play. As you know, we have two events, one more for social games on Thursday and another for **strategic games** on **Monday**. Depending on what people bring, we may play brainy games, not limited to chess and classic games. So, feel free to bring other ones. And this is only indicative. Some games like Decrypto fit both events, **and if people feel like playing a social game on Monday or a more strategic one on Thursday, they are free to do so.** WHERE. Because we have many strategic players on Monday and these games take longer, we moved to a café closing much later than the previous one. CHATBOX USE. In the event chatbox, you are invited to discuss the games you bring and want to play for this session. The idea is to gather people around game tables beforehand. Of course, it's also possible to show up and arrange this after the introduction round, which starts at 7h15. HOST. If you want to become a host and have your board game event for a specific game with a small group of people or in another place, Great! Let me know, and I'll help you set up your event with this group. Hosts don't pay fees. TIMING: Because strategy games are often longer, we gather at 7 pm and start at 7:15. Much discussion around the rise of China focuses on what the West should do in response. This time at Brussels Debaters, we're going to go in a different direction. After all, the world is a big place, and the West and China aren't the only important locations to keep in mind. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
