Rabble - Fitness Through Games!
A Rabble session is 1 hour of fun and social team games. Each game disguises high-intensity intervals within the rules, giving you an effective, all-body workout without even realising it. May Day: Folklore and Resistance
May Day: Folklore and Resistance
The celebration of May Day has had many incarnations, stretching from pre-Christianity through the medieval era to modern observance. Due to its seasonal associations with new beginnings, rebirth, and the anticipation of brighter days ahead, this approximate date has been celebrated in various forms for millenia, from the Roman Floralia, to the Celtic Beltane, to the Welsh Can Mai, and more. It is additionally celebrated internationally in the modern day as a day for political demonstrations and honouring workers' rights. So is it a coincidence that this time of year features both some of our most long-enduring and recognisable folkloric traditions and also political activism? Or are folklore and resistance more closely related than they may first appear? Join us for this puzzle trail and walk where we will be exploring the folklore of various communities, and the roles it has played in activism, resistance of oppression, and political change (and of course, pub/park for chat afterwards!) Exact location and minor details TBC but most likely somewhere in the East End. (This is a free event, so we ask that you please keep RSVPs updated to ensure that as many people as possible who want to come are able to. Cancellations with less than three days’ notice may be removed from the group to prevent wasted spaces in future. Many thanks for your understanding!) 'Historic Southwark Treasure Hunt' - can you find the treasure?
'Historic Southwark Treasure Hunt' - can you find the treasure?
Come along on Saturday 30th May for treasure hunt around the historic area of Southwark! The treasure hunts are a good way to get to know an area of London whilst meeting new people. **About the area** In around 200AD the Romans built a bridge between Londinium (now the City) and a group of islands directly opposite across the Thames. The area has been inhabited since and was called *'Suthringa Geweorche'* (which means Southern Defensive Work) by the Anglo Saxons, we know it today as Southwark. In the middle ages, the area became known as the place of 'entertainment', with theatres, bear & bull baiting pits, taverns and brothels. It also had notorious prisons like the Clink and Marshalsea. **How it works** Come along at 1:30pm and you will be randomly divided into teams of 3 people (or you can choose your own team beforehand). For fairness, any London Guides or Blue Badge Tour Guides won't be allowed to take part. Then each team will be given 15-20 written clues which you have to find the answers for. It's up to your team to work together to find the answers. The answers will be found on blue plaques or statues. You can answer them in any order and you will be provided with a map of the area to help you. It's not a race, so you can take your time getting to know Southwark. **Prizes** The team to get the most correct answers and then return to base (a local pub or cafe) will win book vouchers for Waterstones bookshops of £10 per person. If more than one team gets the top score, there will be a tie break question back at the pub. A £5 gift voucher per person will be given to each member of the team coming in second place and prizes will be given to each member of the team with the best team name. **Cost** Its £7 per person to take part (payable by cash or credit card on the day), apart from Full Members where it is free! **Become a Full Member** To become a Full Member (£14 a year), either: \- Pay cash at an event \- Pay via Bank Transfer \(TSB Bank plc\, Sort code: 77\-66\-65\, Account no: 00030809, Account name: Cultureseekers) \- Pay via credit card on the day or in advance \([https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QLAX8AUI](https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QLAX8AUI)) \- Pay via PayPal\, send a payment to general@cultureseekers\.org\, using the ‘Friends & Family’ option Benefits of becoming a Full Member [here...](https://www.meetup.com/london_cultureseekers/photos/22974682/531979527/) We will be marking the scores back at the pub at 4:30pm, so it should all be over by 5:00pm. Look out for the red & blue 'London Cultureseekers' group sign/flag. If you can't see us, please text. Look forward to seeing you there! Robert 07905 901 834 (prefer text) or email: [general@cultureseekers.org](http://general@cultureseekers.org) ***On the day, if you can’t make the visit, just change your RSVP to No or text me to say you can’t make it.*** ***Please don’t post any messages in the comments that you can’t make it, as this generates spam for everyone else.*** *Please make sure you are aware of the group rules here before RSVPing -* ***[https://www.meetup.com/london_cultureseekers/photos/22974682/523578875/Group_Rules/](https://www.meetup.com/london_cultureseekers/photos/22974682/523578875/Group_Rules/)***

FULL - Kew Gardens: Photo Scavenger Hunt | London 20s and 30s
**On Sunday 31st May, we're hugely excited to be heading to Kew Gardens for another wild afternoon of social fun.** But this isn't just a leisurely stroll through one of the world’s most beautiful gardens - we'll also be adding a dash of fun and friendly competition with one of our signature photo hunts. If you’ve never done one before, it's like a scavenger hunt, but with rare plants, cryptic clues, and playful photo challenges designed to test your creativity and teamwork. Once the clock starts, you’ll have around 2.5 hours to explore the gardens and complete as many weird and wonderful tasks as you can - all while competing against other teams for a shot at glory (and prizes). And when the time’s up, we’ll regroup at a nearby pub to share stories, tally up the scores and crown the champions of the day. And best of all, whilst standard weekend entry to Kew is normally £28, we’ve managed to secure an amazing deal... meaning this **entire afternoon of awe-inspiring nature and friendly competition is just £5.95pp!** Spaces are limited and always fill up fast and so if you're keen to join, RSVP soon to lock in your spot. **\- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \-** **WHERE/WHEN** Venue: Kew War Memorial, 17 Kew Green, Richmond TW9 3AA ([https://maps.app.goo.gl/rejGdyN2mTDxpxUh9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/rejGdyN2mTDxpxUh9)) Closest Tube stations: Kew Gardens (15 min walk) Start Time - 1:30pm Finish time: 5:00pm \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- **JOIN THE COMMUNITY** Set up in November 2021, the project was set up to help 20s and 30s in London meet, connect and hopefully build lifelong friendships. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

Sunday funday: let's play dodgeball at Scioto Audubon park
Dodgeball is back again! If you’ve been wanting to come out, this is an easy one to join. We’ll be playing for about 1.5 to 2 hours, you do not need to bring any equipment, and no experience is needed. We use a specific set of rules and equipment to make the games run better and keep them fun for everybody, not just people who already know how to play. If it rains, the event will be canceled.
