Rigidalstock - Brunni Ferrata Together
Rigidalstock - Brunni Ferrata Together
A via ferrata is a protected, fixed-cable climbing route that allows people to traverse steep or difficult rocky terrain safely. These routes incorporate steel cables, rungs, ladders, and bridges, which serve as both climbing aids and continuous anchors for a special via ferrata safety set to clip into, blending the experience of hiking and rock climbing. Last year we struggle in winter time to catch the last cable car, summer time will be better, and we will start early so we have time to jump in the small lake too (optional, weather and temperature dependent) We plan to do * The Via Ferrata Brunnistöckli ([https://brunni.ch/60/en/brunnistockli](https://brunni.ch/60/en/brunnistockli)) a K2 if there are beginners that want to learn the basics. * Then go to the Klettersteig Rigidalstock ([https://brunni.ch/62/en/rigidalstockridge-and-face](https://brunni.ch/62/en/rigidalstockridge-and-face)) a K3 Both are ideal for beginners. **Weather can cancel the event a few days before if weather is not perfect for execution!** * https://www.meteoschweiz.admin.ch/lokalprognose/brunnihuette-sac.html#forecast-tab=detail-view **You MUST sign the waiver form, it contains detailed information about the difficulty and more** [https://forms.gle/U9vwNC22R8utpx6a8](https://forms.gle/U9vwNC22R8utpx6a8) You can read the QuickStart guide: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/19oks3FaopmkEDDOAUF163Lo_qWMmBgFS0Ht5TqTf0YA/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/19oks3FaopmkEDDOAUF163Lo_qWMmBgFS0Ht5TqTf0YA/edit?usp=sharing) There is no transport organised, no Bus. You can use your car or travel with the organiser Cédric Walter from Zürich HB, meeting up below the Blue Engel at 6:50 sharp The recommended train is the 7:10 in Zürich HB -> Engelberg, Brunnibahn. 20 CHF HalbTax one way **Costs:** You'll have to pay for: * Transport by train to Engelberg or you organise your own transportation * The first cable car (is free with a General abonnement, discounted with HalbTax) & the chairlift, see https://brunni.ch/en/detail/prices-single-and-returntickets **Renting Equipment (+20 CHF)** * The via ferrata set (incl. helmet and harness) can be reserved in advance either by using the form below, by telephone (041 639 60 60) or by e-mail (info@brunni.ch). You have to leave a valid ID * The via ferrata sets can be obtained at the Kräuterhütte [https://brunni.ch/22/de/krauterhutte](https://brunni.ch/22/de/krauterhutte) at the Härzlisee. * The Kräuterhütte close EARLY than 17:00, your ID is then move to the restaurant beside the Kräuterhütte, you can give the helmet and harness and get your ID there * If the set is not collected one hour after the requested reservation time, the Brunni-Bahnen reserve the right to release the equipment in case of increased demand, but your ID will stay at the top of the hill, and need to be sent per post. * We have to get enough time buffer to catch the cable car

Handstand Training (Open Level)
Handstand Training (Open Level)
Sundays, 2pm-3pm. Trial class: CHF 20 Drop-in: CHF 35 Book here: www.balancewithale.com/zurich/handstand "I'll never be able to handstand". You kick at the wall but see no progress. Your wrists hurt. You don't know how to improve... It doesn't have to be this way. Progress doesn't come from trying harder — it comes from practicing smarter. Handstands are a skill, and when you train them as such, they begin to click in a way that feels almost magical. This class builds the foundations (strength, alignment and technique) that make handstands feel achievable and fun. Through clear progressions and personalized drills, you'll discover how capable your body truly is, and how handstands start to feel within reach when you train with intention and support. Because drills are tailored to you, the class welcomes all levels — from "I've never kicked up before" to confident freestanding balancers who want to develop greater control.

Bikes Before Wine, Gears Before Grapes - The Barns at Hamilton Station
Bikes Before Wine, Gears Before Grapes - The Barns at Hamilton Station
Let's earn this afternoon's wine at The Barns at Hamilton Station with an easy paced bike ride along the W&OD Trail between Hamilton, Purcellville, and Clarks Gap. Since this will be Outdoor Vineyard Visits' first bike ride, we'll be keeping things casual and easy. Starting at the W&OD trail at Hamilton Station Rd, we'll begin with a 7.6 mile out-and-back to the end of the trail in Purcellville. For those that want more, we'll then head east to Clarks Gap for a total of twelve miles. If this pre-winery bike ride goes well, we'll look into doing more in the future including longer & more challenging rides. But today's ride is just for the fun of getting some easy miles in before joining the group up the road at The Barns. (Separate sign up here: https://www.meetup.com/outdoor-vineyard-visits/events/314870488/) **PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS!** Date: Saturday June 13 Pre-Ride Prep: 10:45 am Pedaling Time: **11:00 am!!** Start Location: Where the W&OD crosses Hamilton Station Rd Start GPS: https://maps.app.goo.gl/c2fPJ68SDTKuSPYTA Parking: There is street parking along Hamilton Station and Irene Rds. Estimated ride time: 1:00 to 1:30 hours Estimated average speed: 12 mph (mostly flat, some small hills) Pace: Casual and easy - this is not a race or training ride Rider Level: We will keep an easy pace, but this is not a pure beginner's ride. The Barns is less than a mile up the road where we'll meet to the rest of the Outdoor Winery Visit's gang. **Cycling helmets are required!** You must have at least one large full water bottle. You must have a spare tube, tire levers, and either a pump or CO2 cartridges. I can help fix a flat but I can't bring a tube or air for every different type/size of tire. Check your bike BEFORE you leave your house. The trail head is not the place to adjust your brakes, derailleurs or air up your tires. eBikes are welcome but you must stick to the same pace as standard bikes. **+++++++++++++++++++++** **The Not So Fine Print:** **+++++++++++++++++++++** Helmets are required to participate on all Outdoor Winery Visit rides. All riders ride at their own risk and with the understanding that cycling is an inherently dangerous activity. When coming to the meetup you do so voluntarily and are ready and able to participate in the ride as described under the conditions of the day. Be on time for the "pre-ride" preparation. We will begin the ride at 11:00 am, no exceptions. In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the Outdoor Winery Visit's programs, related events and activities, I acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that: 1. The risk of injury from many of the activities is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death, and while particular skills, rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and, 2. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, BOTH KNOWN AND UNKNOWN, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others and assume full responsibility for my participation; and, 3. I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately; and, 4. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS Outdoor Winery Visits, it’s officers, officials, ride directors, ride coordinators, agents, and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors and advertisers ("RELEASEES”), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, OR LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PERSON OR PROPERTY, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law. An Epic Adventure from Middleburg to Purcellville and back
An Epic Adventure from Middleburg to Purcellville and back
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37593880 (38 miles, 40% gravel) https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37642919 (22 miles, 44% gravel) Two routes: 38 or 22 miles. Picnic is in Purcellville with restaurants. Toilets at the beginning, middle and end of the trail. **NOTE: ADVANCED TRAIL. BRING EXTRA BATTERIES! THIS IS A FULL DAY SELF-GUIDED ADVENTURE.** The GPS routes can be found here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37593880 (38 miles, 40% gravel) https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37642919 (22 miles, 44% gravel) Come join us for a ride through some unbelievably scenic roads between Middleburg and Purcellville, VA. Loudoun County has a lot of beautiful back roads, many of which are gravel. This route meanders through some of the best scenery that this area has to offer. Expect to see miles of stone fences, pastoral farmsteads, charming little towns, and sparkling streams that snake their way through the landscape. You are guaranteed to end this ride with a smile on your face, and tranquility in your soul. Road bikes with super skinny tires will not be appropriate for this ride; that being said, any other tire should be fine. The key to navigating gravel roads is to take your time, which you will want to do anyway, as you take in the scenery. We wait at intersections for slower riders to catch up, so there will be no pressure to go any faster than you are comfortable. There is a winery just across the road from the parking area, and a brewery just on the other side of Middleburg, should anyone feel inclined to grab a bite to eat and a drink, after the ride. Mile 0 to 7: Mickie Gordon Park to Hibbs Bridge Both routes are the same to this point. Hibbs Bridge is a double-arched stone bridge with a humped back built between 1810 and 1830 when the Snickers Gap Turnpike was being constructed on what is now the Snickersville Turnpike. Mile 7 to 9 (short route): Hibbs Bridge to Philomont General Store The shorter route's lunch stop is at the Philomont General Store, which is a neat old building that has a variety of food, ice cream, drink, and other general store items. It has a strong 1800's vibe to it. There is also a restroom nearby. Mile 9 to 22 (short route): Philomont General Store to Mickie Gordon Park This is exactly the same as Mile 25 to 38 on the longer route. Mile 7 to 18 (long route): Hibbs Bridge to Purcellville We'll break away from the short route and make our way to Purcellville, where there are many good options for food directly on the route, including a Subway and 7/11. If you like Thai food, Patama Thai Kitchen (next to Subway) is top notch. We'll break for lunch in Purcellville's Fireman's Park, which has picnic tables and restrooms. The park is just down the road from the eateries, so consider bringing your food with you to the park. Mile 18 to 25 (long route): Purcellville to Philomont General Store We'll gradually get back into it after our lunch stop, and enjoy more pleasant back roads as we make our way to our final break point. The Philomont General Store is a neat old building that has a variety of food, ice cream, drink, and other general store items. It has a strong 1800's vibe to it. There is also a restroom nearby. Mile 25 to 38 (long route): Philomont to Mickie Gordon Park We'll head back over Hibbs Bridge and make a quick right onto a gravel road, which will lead us to some of the most remote and serene parts of the ride. You just can't find roads like this in most places, and we are lucky that Loudoun County sees fit to leave them be. We'll arrive in Middleburg the back way, bike down East Washington Street, and make a right just after leaving town. We'll take some neighborhood roads to avoid route 50 as much as possible, then do a very short stint (0.2 mi) on 50 to get back to our parking area. **Free Ride With GPS for E-Bike Lovers** The Ride With GPS E-bike Lovers club membership is now free as www.ebikelovers.com generates sufficient income from ads to cover the costs.
