This is the second of a series of meetups dedicated to exploring the exciting world of **[OpenTelemetry](https://opentelemetry.io/)** within the cloud-native ecosystem. Whether you're just curious about observability or already a seasoned OpenTelemetry user, this series will offer valuable insights, practical knowledge, and opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts in the Barcelona cloud-native community. **Location** [Glovo](https://about.glovoapp.com/): c/Llull 108\, Barcelona \| [https://maps.app.goo.gl/371qvgfN5jj7atpcA](https://maps.app.goo.gl/371qvgfN5jj7atpcA) ** Here's a sneak peek of the agenda:** **18:30:** Check-in and welcome **18:45:** ️ "**The 44% Price I Paid for Observability**" by **[Adrián Pastén](https://www.linkedin.com/in/adrian-pasten/)**, Software Engineer at [ApiumHub](https://www.linkedin.com/company/apium_hub/)**.** I added OpenTelemetry to find performance bottlenecks in my Kubernetes PHP application. Instead, OTEL became the bottleneck - consuming 44% of my system capacity and dropping throughput from 2,519 to 1,400 requests per second. Through live metrics and real production scenarios, I'll share what auto-instrumentation actually costs, when observability tools become performance killers, and practical strategies for getting the insights you need without destroying the speed you fought for. **19:15:** ️ **"Efficient Tail Sampling at Glovo"** by **[Dani Medina](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dani-medina-3084b878/)**, Principal Software Engineer at [Glovo](https://about.glovoapp.com/) In this insightful talk, Dani delves into how Glovo has implemented a tailored tail sampling strategy to achieve two critical objectives: keeping operational costs under control and empowering developers to identify error traces effectively. **19:45 - 20:30:** Networking, Snacks, and Drinks We appreciate **[Glovo](https://about.glovoapp.com/)**'s generosity in hosting us at their Barcelona office and providing snacks & refreshments.
Vente y hablamos. Rafa. \-\-\-\- Hi! Every day there are new ways to learn Spanish, (or any language) new apps, grammar methods, AI, teachers explaining things on videos, and they are all great. If they help you to understand more and to speak better, they are great. The main plan in this group is to improve your Spanish with games, real activities and exercises to speak more. All the games and activities are a good excuse to correct the most difficult/ frequent mistakes: Difficult words, confusing past tenses, prepositions, verbs that mean many things, ser and estar in the past, sentences with two or more verbs, subjuntive, colloquial expressions, and also “cultural" mistakes: How we, Spanish people, use the language in different situations? People participating are (almost always) very nice, and usually leave very positive reviews of the classes. If the plan fits you, come to practice your Spanish and we'll talk about food, travel, work, culture, Internet, local issues, business, news and many more things. There is a contribution to participate of only €10 per person/2-hour class (materials included, drinks not included) or €30 for 4 classes. Let´s talk. Rafa.

Projects that are over budget, delayed, or that fail to scale past the POC phase are very common. In many of these scenarios, choosing the right approach can be as critical as the solution itself. Should you build a tailored machine learning model, leverage the power of large language models (LLMs), or integrate with AI copilots? Each option has unique strengths, trade-offs, and resource requirements, and the key to success lies in aligning your choice with your business goals and technical constraints. In this talk, we will go beyond the basic concepts and definitions to provide a practical guide that allows attendees to navigate these decisions through real-world case studies. We will examine scenarios in which different AI paradigms were chosen, discuss the factors that influenced those decisions, and outline the process for evaluating needs, constraints, and outcomes. From assessing data availability and team expertise to balancing cost and scalability, you'll gain insights into the critical considerations that guide the selection process. By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear process for determining whether machine learning, LLMs, or copilots are best suited to your AI challenges and understand the resources and strategies needed to bring your chosen solution to life. This talk is ideal for decision-makers, technical leads, and innovators seeking to demystify AI implementation and maximize the impact of their investments.

In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA
