Tech Startups in the Pub, Oxford Street - Relaxed Networking
🍻 Tech Startups in the Pub – Now Twice a Month! 🚀
We’re levelling up! After 3 years of packed evenings in Shoreditch, we’re adding a second monthly event, this time midweek in Oxford Street. That means two chances every month to meet founders, techies, and startup people over drinks. 🎉
👉 What’s New
* A **fresh central-London venue**: Simmons Bar, Oxford Street
* A new day: **1st Wednesday** of the month
* Find one of the hosts to **grab a wristband**, it makes it easy to spot who’s part of the meetup (and not a random party). 😉
👉 What Stays the Same
* No agenda, no panels, just relaxed networking with like-minded people.
* Friendly hosts (look for Oliver, Pedro, Rob, or Rob) ready to introduce you.
* A mix of founders, builders, operators, and curious newcomers.
* Drinks, chats, and maybe some new friends.
📍 Where: Simmons Bar \| Oxford Street\, 203 Wardour St\, London W1F 8ZH
🕕 When: From 6 PM, 1st Wednesday of every month
House Rules
* No hard selling or heavy pitching, this is a chill after-work meetup.
* Not drinking? Totally fine, come for the people, stay for the conversation.
So grab a drink, throw on your wristband, and come swap stories from the trenches. See you there! 🍻
In person meetup to critique work submitted by members.
This is a live session at The Mitre in Greenwich.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide and receive critique on submitted extracts of members' creative writing, whether they're working on a novel, screenplay, poetry, a memoir or short story, etc. We share our extracts via email ahead of the meeting to give us all a chance to read the work in our own time and reflect upon it so as to be able to provide useful critique. If you want to submit an extract mail me at gpatrick66@hotmail.com to book a slot.
If you are new to the group we ask that you participate in at least two of the Wednesday critiquing sessions before you submit work for review so that you get to know us and have a good understanding of how we operate. This will help you to get the most from a critique of your own work.
Extracts should be approx 3,000 words and the full document (extract plus blurbs, questions etc) should not exceed 3,500 words in total. Extracts must be mailed to me (gpatrick66@hotmail.com) at the latest by 9pm on the Saturday before the session so that I can share your work with the rest of the group. (If you have not received the extracts by the Sunday before the session, mail me.) We have a limit of 4 extracts per session to give adequate time to review work properly. Feel free to give guidance on any specific areas on which you would like feedback. E.g. Plot, pacing, structure or character development etc.
The group is friendly and relaxed, so please don't feel nervous about sharing your work!
We will normally review extracts according to the order in which they are sent to me but if you need a particular slot let me know when you submit your extract and we will try to accommodate that.
Please note that all phones MUST be switched to silent mode for the duration of the meeting.

PREPARE & PAINT - 2 MORNINGS
**Bookable via our website ➡️** https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/prepare-paint-203/
⋆⋆⋆
All set to decorate one room… or perhaps your entire home? Brush up your decorating techniques by messing up our workshop, instead of your living room!
Painting a room is a great way to transform your home interior, without it costing the earth. But it can be a daunting task and everyone wants to have that professional looking finish. What’s the secret to decorating success? Preparation and practice.
Our Prepare & Paint workshop is a very practical class. From clearing the space to cleaning up brushes, we will take you methodically through the whole process.
We will guide you through the importance and process of preparation: How to fill gaps and blemishes to make the surfaces smooth and ready for paint. You will practice using different tools and materials, experiment with different qualities of brushes and finally learn how to apply paint to where you want and not all over yourself.
In the first session, each student will have a panel of ‘wall’ and woodwork to work on. You will learn how to select the correct tools and materials and prepare a room for painting, from cleaning the paintwork to filling small and large holes in the walls and woodwork. Learn what materials to use and how to apply the filler and how to sand the surfaces in preparation for painting. We will even show you how to prepare areas that have been damaged by water stains, flaky plaster and lost areas of wood.
Next you will learn how to select the correct paint and judge the correct situation to use primer and undercoat and how to paint ceilings, walls and woodwork. Get to grips with how to paint edge lines that are crisp and sharp.
Delight in painting without drips or masking tape and learn how to select and care for a paintbrush. We will even show you how to clean a brush and a roller so that they will give you years of service.
Brush up your decorating techniques by practising under the guidance of an experienced professional decorator, who can answer your decorating problems as well, so bring photos of the snags in your home and take away lots of confidence to tackle the tasks at hand.
All personal protection, tools and materials are included. Suitable for absolute beginners. Enjoyable for everyone.

From Stability to Stewardship
A Biblical & Practical Path to Financial Freedom
This is not just a money class.
This is a restoration space.
The I AM Worthy of Ownership™ Path is a 12-step, sister-centered journey for women who are ready to build financial stability without shame, fear, or pressure—and to do it in a way that honors both wisdom and the spirit.
Many women don’t struggle with money because they lack discipline or intelligence. They struggle because of unhealed experiences, survival patterns, and the quiet belief that they are “behind” or “disqualified.” This series gently challenges those beliefs while offering practical tools for peace, clarity, and long-term planning.
Together, we will talk honestly about:
Releasing shame and money anxiety
Building stability as a form of self-respect and spiritual discipline
Understanding money as a tool, not a source of worth
Managing debt with clarity instead of condemnation
Preparing for life’s unexpected moments without fear
Laying a calm foundation for future ownership and legacy
Each session blends practical financial education with reflection, conversation, and encouragement. There is no pressure to share personal numbers or experiences. You are welcome to speak, journal quietly, or simply listen.
This is not about hustle.
This is not about perfection.
This is about alignment, wisdom, and peace.
Who this series is for:
Women who are starting over or rebuilding
Women who want stability without stress
Women preparing for future ownership or housing decisions
Women who want their financial lives to reflect wholeness, not fear
No prior financial knowledge is required.
Come as you are. Bring a notebook.
Leave a little lighter than you arrived.
Light refreshments will be served along with 30 minutes of networking.
Self-Love: Confidence Through Expression
Confidence can be cultivated in many ways—through reflection, conversation, creativity, and practice. In this Confidence Lab session, we’ll explore one powerful pathway: **building confidence from the inside out through physical expression and movement**.
This experience is designed to help you reconnect with your body as a source of insight, self-trust, and presence. We’ll begin by grounding into what’s bringing you here, creating space to notice how your body is showing up and what it’s holding. From there, you’ll be guided through accessible movement exercises that invite awareness and choice—isolating different parts of the body, experimenting with movement, and practicing what it feels like to take up space intentionally.
Next, you’ll participate in a small-group dance lesson led in a supportive, low-pressure environment. No dance experience is needed. The focus is not on performance or perfection, but on expression, curiosity, and allowing yourself to move with confidence as you are.
We’ll close with a reflective group discussion, exploring what emerged during the experience and how these insights can be applied beyond the studio—how you inhabit your body, how you carry yourself, and how you show up in everyday life.
**What to know:**
* Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you feel good moving in
* No dance experience required
* Light snacks and beverages will be provided
This session is for anyone interested in deepening their relationship with confidence by listening to their body, expanding their capacity for self-expression, and practicing self-love as an embodied experience.

Confidence Lab is a monthly community experience for bold, thoughtful leaders building confidence from the inside out. Whether you’re launching a business, leading a team, navigating change, or simply striving to show up more fully—you belong here.
Our work demands clarity, courage, and conviction—but the pace of daily life can erode our sense of self. Confidence Lab creates space to reflect, reconnect, and grow with others doing purpose-driven work.
It’s designed for entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, creatives, corporate professionals, activists, and anyone ready to lead with authenticity and impact.

Turning Rentals Into Income: How Investors Pay Off Properties Faster
#### Turning Rentals Into Income: How Investors Pay Off Properties Faster
#### **Featuring Guest Speaker: John Blackburn**
**👉 Get your FREE TICKET [HERE](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/turning-rentals-into-income-how-investors-pay-off-properties-faster-tickets-1980492192461?aff=cicmeetupapp)**
####
A lot of people get into real estate because they want freedom.
Then they buy a rental…and realize most of the rent goes straight to the bank.
They technically own property, but the mortgage controls the income. And waiting 30 years for properties to be paid off doesn’t feel realistic.
This meetup is about understanding a different way to think about rental properties… one that focuses on paying them off sooner so the income is actually usable.
**Featured Guest Speaker: John Blackburn**
We’re excited to welcome John Blackburn as our guest speaker for this event.
John has been actively investing in real estate since 2006 and has:
* Been involved in **5,000+ real estate transactions**
* Helped investors **acquire over $150 million in rental property**
* **Raised more than $100 million** in private capital
John didn’t start with family money or shortcuts. He built his portfolio by focusing on clear systems, real numbers, and long-term strategy.
For this meetup, John will walk through how investors shift their focus from simply owning rentals to building properties that eventually pay them…without a mortgage attached.
**What You’ll Learn**
John will break down, in simple terms:
* Why most rental properties don’t produce much usable income early on
* Why buying more rentals isn’t always the answer
* How investors structure their properties to pay off mortgages in a fraction of the time
* How properties can work together to eliminate debt faster
* What changes once rentals become free and clear
This approach is often referred to as an accelerated paydown strategy — using rental income intentionally to reduce debt sooner, rather than waiting decades for mortgages to run their course.
John will also share a simple calculator you can use to see how this works with real numbers and realistic scenarios.
**The Core Idea**
When a rental has a mortgage, the rent has one job: **pay the bank.**
When a rental is paid off, the rent has a different job: **pay you.**
Most people only see one timeline…30 years.
This session shows how investors shorten that timeline and gradually increase their income as properties become free and clear.
**Who This Event Is For**
This event is for people who want more than just “owning rentals” on paper.
* Rental owners who are tired of most of the rent going to the bank and want a clearer path to real, usable income
* New investors who want to understand how rental properties actually build wealth over time before jumping in
* People with capital who want to invest in real estate with intention and a long-term plan
* Anyone serious about freedom and curious how rental properties transition from debt-heavy assets into income-producing ones
**Event Details**
**Location:** Ohio Brewing Company - 421 E 2nd Ave, Columbus, OH 43201
