**Sunday 28th June** ✨ Ramsgate to Margate Coastal Walk ✨ 📍St Pancras Station📍 ⏰ 09:00-9:15 am ⏰ We're leaving London for the day to walk the Viking Coastal Path from Ramsgate to Margate! We'll explore the 11km stretch of coast before settling in Margate where we'll have time to visit the \*free!\* Turner Contemporary Museum, the famous Crab Museum and simply chill on the beach in the sun with a cold beer. **Logistics** If you're coming on the trip you need to book an open return to Ramsgate (which will allow you to return from Margate too), and we'll be taking the outbound train from ST PANCRAS to RAMSGATE that departs at 9:40am. Tickets can be purchased at southeastern (where 33% discounts are available for bookings of 3 or more if you don't have a railcard): https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/ You need to be on this train to make the trip. We are allowing plenty of time beforehand to meet, grab a coffee, so this shouldn't be an issue. Our meet-ups are for everyone - all inclusive and welcoming! Our events will follow no particular theme - variety is the spice of life after all - and we'll try to keep a nice mix of different accessible options. **Can I come alone?** Of course!! That's nerve-racking for some but a huge number of our participants come alone and feel equally uncertain about it. The hardest part is only ever the activation energy required to ask that first question or two. **Is there any cost?** We are not making a penny from any of this - It's all done for the pure thrill of the thing itself and with the belief that the monetisation of a fun project is a sure-fire way to suck the joy out of it! We will be selecting some activities that will be ticketed events, but it will simply be up to you to book in if you want to come! **Do I need to sign up?** Usually no! It's a traditional English sport for everyone, even the unsporty. Your team will be either fielding or batting before swapping after the innings. When batting, the aim is to hit the ball, then try and run around the four posts. Your team gets a rounder if you make it round the four posts without stopping or getting out. You are out if when you hit the ball someone catches the ball before it reaches the ground or someone stumps a post before you get there. The rules will be explained at the beginning of each meetup with a practice round at the beginning. We play a slightly modified version of the official rules where if you are out, it's not game over for you. Your team will lose a life instead. This will give everyone multiple opportunities to bat. **It's very simple to pick up and the ball we use is very soft. We are very beginner friendly and the focus is on having fun rather than being competitive**. We attract attendees of all ages and sporting level. You are welcome to come and watch only too. We usually have a few people who do so while having a picnic and enjoying the park. **Come and meet us** Meet at 2pm in Regents Park. The main rounders game will finish at 3:30pm and this is followed by social/board games or beginner friendly mixed gender football. **Social/Board Games** Please check out our [separate meetup event](https://www.meetup.com/games-friends/) for details and sign up there! **Football** For mixed gender football we aim to have roughly equal numbers of men and women and 3 ability levels (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced). There may be limited spaces for men for football as we are always oversubscribed. **Free or play for charity** Our Sunday social and rounders events are free for everyone. The organisers volunteer their time and fund for the equipment, public liability insurance, marketing and meetup costs to make this happen. We would like our events to raise awareness and money for worthwhile charities. Join us for a relaxed Sunday afternoon exploring Regent's Canal from Angel to Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square. This is a friendly social walk for people who enjoy good conversation, meeting new people and discovering interesting parts of London. We'll stroll at an easy pace along the canal, passing colourful narrowboats, waterside cafés and some of London's most characterful urban scenery. London Wanderers attracts a mix of people who enjoy getting out, exploring the city and spending time with friendly, interesting company. Many people come on their own, so there's no need to know anyone beforehand, and new members are always welcome. We'll finish around Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square, where anyone who would like to stay can join for a coffee, food or drink afterwards. Whether you're looking to meet new people, expand your social circle or simply enjoy a pleasant Sunday in good company, we'd love to see you there. Join Black Love & Friends as we spend the evening together in the beautiful, historic King-Lincoln District, just steps from Mayme Moore Park, with an incredible view of the Red, White & BOOM fireworks. This isn't a formal event—it's a relaxed summer gathering. Come early or stop by later. Stay for an hour or stay all evening. We'll have our own private meetup space where you can kick back, meet new people, play a few games, enjoy light refreshments, and simply enjoy the holiday together. **Shark Week Kick Off -** In celebration of Shark Week (and to honor Nick's favorite animal, just after humans and bigfoot) we will serve shark themed wines and play the theme to Jaws in the background as our wittier members blurt out puns such as "I think we're going to need a bigger..." glass of wine... Shark Week runs from **Sunday, July 26, through Saturday, August 1, 2026**. The eight-day programming event will air on the Discovery Channel. **Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (cash or Venmo only please). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Bring a bottle to share if you care to. See all the details below for the Hilliard Wine Club Wine Tasting. In Person. In Real Life. Actual Wine from glass bottles with corks and everything. **Wine**: Tastings will be $15 for four samples (cash or Venmo only please). And you are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share with others. Participation in the wine tastings is optional. But since you’re going, I will buy enough wine to cover you. If you bring your own wine and do not participate in the tasting you will only pay $10 to cover the door charge. **Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing. **Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions. **Extra Wine**: After everyone has had their samples, we remove the pouring spouts and any remaining wine is poured freely to whomever wants it. I hate having leftover wine. **Queen of Hearts**: The Queen of Hearts raffle is a fundraiser for the club and a Barnum & Bailey type extravaganza - minus the dancing ponies and clowns. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee.
