## Details **What is Toastmasters?** Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that’s been empowering people to become confident communicators and leaders since 1924. Join us for a 9km walk in the beautiful East of the Utrecht Region. As the route will be taking us along the Egelmeer lake and Prattenburg estate, you may expect forest mixed with some heathlandscapes, which makes this a great walk if you want to get out in the nature. The start and end point of this walk will be Veenendaal-West train station, where we'll be meeting right next to the platform where the train from Utrecht will arrive. We'll wait for the 10.40AM train to arrive and then depart at around 10.45AM. If you're arriving late, we won't let the whole group wait for you, but you can send a WhatsApp message to +31621177691 so we can send you our live location and you can try to catch up with us. For those coming by car, there is a free parking right next to the station, at the Dichterslaan. Please be aware that Veenendaal-West is just a small train station and there are no public toilets there. Also there are no public toilets on our route. Utrecht Hiking Community aims to organise one hike per month in or around Utrecht, often in collaboration with UR-Glocal, which organises expat activities in Utrecht Region. If you're in for a hike with a bunch of friendly other hiking enthusiasts, you're very welcome to join, no matter whether you're an expat, local, tourist, nomad, student, professional, beginner, alone or with friends. The hikes are a great way to meet people from different backgrounds while being active and out in nature. We call this 'Social Hiking'. If you love to hike fast, we might not be the right group for you though, as for us it's important that beginners can join and have a good time as well. Dogs are allowed on almost the whole route, but need to be kept on a leash at several parts. At the end of the route there is one small part where dogs aren't allowed, but there's an easy little detour available. **People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data** Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics. The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth. The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical. I love my job and one of the main things I do is help customers get going with any of the data technologies at Microsoft. Right now there are a lot of my customers asking about Microsoft Fabric. It's hard to weave across all the shiny new options across the Fabric landscape, let alone figure out where it fits into your organization.
