Ready to get outside? Our Friday morning Nordic Walk in Brockwell Park is back! At this moment we can meet with up to 30 people (of more than two households) to do outdoor exercise and walks. However, i like to keep our exercise groups small, so I have set the maximum participants at 12. For now this walk is for our experienced Nordic Walkers only, who already used to Nordic Walk with us regularly before Covid 19 kept us indoors, and who have their own Nordic Walking poles. As this session is outdoors, we will not ask you to wear a face mask, but we do ask you to keep 2 meters apart. Some of our walkers might be immune compromised or more at risk, so please help us keep everyone safe! Please do not come to the session and stay at home if: - you know you have been in contact - in the last 2 weeks- with someone with symptoms of possible Covid, or if you have been in contact with someone who tested positive. - you have any of the following symptoms: (new) Loss of smell/taste, Persistent cough, Fatigue, Loss of appetite, Skin rash, Hives, Fever, Severe muscle pain, Shortness of breath, Diarrhoea, Delirium, Abdominal pain, Chest pain, Hoarse voice, Eye soreness, Sore or painful throat, Nausea or vomiting, Headache, Dizziness or light headedness We meet by the Blackbird bakery in Herne Hill, between the station and the park. Session Price: £10 per session, £89 for a 10-session card or £70 unlimited sessions per month. Session cards and Pay Monthly can be used in any of our outdoor walks or indoor Zoom classes sessions (except for the Parkinson's sessions). Pay What Works: The price shown above is the “true” value of the session that best reflects the work I put into preparing and leading your session. However, I understand that not everyone can afford to pay full price, and I don’t want that to stop you from joining us. In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. Join us Saturday at 10:30am for a casual run along the Regents Canal, approx 9.8km We head to the top of Primrose Hill and back through Regents Park finishing at Granary Square, Kings Cross. Or if you’re looking for something shorter you can turn around at any point, Camden Market or the top of Primrose Hill are good options. We will start and meet in front of the entrance to the Regent's canal (entrance is on Muriel Street). Coffee afterwards for those interested. Any level of runner is welcome - we're a very relaxed running group!

There's no better way to start the weekend than with a run in the park with a bunch of friendly people. So join us for our regular Saturday meetup! TIME: 10am (please note we leave promptly) DISTANCE: 6.5k/4 miles START LOCATION: SW corner of Kensington Gardens, just inside the Kings Arms Gate (see pin on map below. program Royal Garden Hotel into google maps for directions). We welcome all levels of runners, so everyone runs at their own pace, taking between 30 and 50mins to run a complete anti-clockwise lap of Hyde Park. then we meet up at the end and walk together to Whole Foods Market on High Street Kensington for some well-earned coffee and brunch (or to grab treats for a picnic in the park if the weather's nice). LCC RUNNERS: Hyde Park Foundation Session [~1km] BEGINNERS
**Welcome back to LCC's Trail Running Club! This is our beginners' session in which we'll be training from the ground up, building strength and endurance in line with the NHS-approved [Couch to 5k programme.](https://www.nhs.uk/better-health/get-active/get-running-with-couch-to-5k/)** Beginners' training sessions are all about what's right for you, so we won't be following a fixed route or a set pace. We'll aim to do around 1km, alternatively jogging and walking, based on how we feel. Everyone is welcome no matter how little running you've done in your life so do come along and invite your friends, we'll be making sure no one gets left behind. There are [toilet facilities in Hyde Park](https://www.royalparks.org.uk/visit/parks/hyde-park/faqs) which cost 20 pence (£0.20) to access; contactless payment cards are accepted but cash is not. If you haven't got a card but need the loo, don't worry, we got you. I'll also be bringing plenty of water along with me, so if you forget yours, fear not. I've got a few spare bits of kit as well - if you would like a running sleeve to put your phone in or a pouch belt for keys and things, just shoot me a message on here ahead of time! Our standard bit of info about our running group and why it's good is provided below: \-\-\-\-\- Humans evolved to run and sprint; no wonder then that when we do it regularly (within moderation and with plenty of rest days), our brains as well as bodies thank us. Running has recently been shown to [improve neuroplasticity,](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6148340/) heal [brain damage](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6148340/) in affected individuals, and foster [better mental health](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/the-truth-behind-runners-high-and-other-mental-benefits-of-running) including elevated mood at rest and enhanced task-switching ability. Doing all this in nature, as opposed to busy London roads dodging commuters and street cleaners, also helps deliver the well-known [benefits](https://mcpress.mayoclinic.org/mental-health/the-mental-health-benefits-of-nature-spending-time-outdoors-to-refresh-your-mind/) of time spent in nature to mood, anxiety levels, cognition and memory. All these things matter a great deal in an age where burnout and exhaustion are a constant presence either in our own lives or those of the people we care about [who you should totally invite along]. It matters especially for people trying to eke out a percentage of their time and mental capacity for transformative social and political organising: the better we feel, the more we'll be able to do. In a nutshell, running is great for you and you should do it. Trail running is even better. Best of all is doing all this with a supportive group of comrades, especially one which includes knowledgeable folks who can provide some structure to what can be a puzzling sport to get started with if building up to something, like a 10k or half marathon, is your goal. Part of our running group's programming will be building a series of events aimed at building people up, slowly but surely, towards specific goals, using progressive programmes similar to the [NHS's Couch to 5k](https://www.nhs.uk/better-health/get-active/get-running-with-couch-to-5k/) system. \-\-\-\-\- Take care and see you on the trails!

With several marathons and half-marathons coming up, we are hosting a distance training long run this month. This is a popular event which we have run for several years now. Whilst the main run will start at Broxbourne and finish in Hackney Wick, taking in the Lea Valley regional park, there will be additional pick-up points at Enfield Lock and Walthamstow Wetlands for those wishing to run shorter distances. We will all run together, aiming for a pace of around 5:30mins/km, but adjusting to suit the group. There is no bag drop, please bring a small backpack with drinks, snacks and some warm/dry clothes for the end of the run. **Joining Instructions:** **30km Start from Broxbourne Railway Station at 10:00am** From Central London catch the 09:23 train from Liverpool Street, which also calls at Tottenham Hale. Oyster/contactless is accepted for the full journey, so no need to buy tickets. **20km Start from Enfield Lock at 11:00am** The River Lee is a short walk east of Enfield Lock station. Wait by the river outside the Greyhound pub. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early. **8km Start from Walthamstow Wetlands 12:15am** Wait outside the Engine House Visitor Centre. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early. **Finishing Point:** Hackney Wick. We will most likely stop at Crate Brewery by the canal for beer and pizza.
