## Details Hello everyone! We climb at Crystal City Movement every Monday. Please read rest of the description carefully. We mostly do tope rope climbing but we can arrange bouldering sessions as well. If you prefer lead climbing please post on the comments to find your belay partner. \#\# Requirements * If you are not a Movement member, you'll get a daily pass. If you are totally new to climbing and want to do top rope, then you have to have a belay certificate. Join Brittany Warman, a folklorist who has earned a devoted following among Profs and Pints fans, as she explores the darker side of Irish fairylore. The figures she'll discuss include: The Leanan-Sidhe, a vampiric fairy who gives artistic inspiration in exchange for your mortal spirit. The Dullahan, a fairy with a human spine for a whip and a habit of hurtling across fields in a death coach made from human skin. The Banshee, a mournful fairy whose cry signals a death in the family to which she's attached herself. Dr. Warman also will examine the surprising impact of fairy folklore on two classics of Irish Gothic literature, Oscar Wilde's *The Picture of Dorian Gray* and Bram Stoker's *Dracula.* It’s a talk that will remind you that the relationship between the Irish and the spooky stretches well beyond Halloween. If you were born in ‘62 like I was, you grew up with one of the greatest television shows of all time (well, I was 5yo at the time 😆), the Monkees! A conceived boy band for TV, that was made up of four talented musicians- Davey Jones, Mike Nesmith, Mickey Dolenz, and Peter Tork. Their three #1 hits included Last Train to Clarksville, Daydream Believer, and Neil Diamond’s I’m a Believer. The Jelly Roll Mortals are fresh off their triumphant performance at the Buddy Holly Winter Dance and turn their talents on late 60’s power pop. The Rockville Elks Lodge has cheap drinks and “somewhat edible substances” for sale. Plentiful parking out back. There’s a $15 cover charge and the band starts at 7:30. If you have copies of Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, please bring them. If you don't, we may have some extras available for you to borrow (one time only, please). The story behind the lady who captured the world's attention, "Tina Turner the musical". A lot of us have seen the movie "What's Love got to do with it" (sub-title Ike was a wild dude). Well this is the stage version of her story. Capitol One Hall in Tyson's, VA has LIMITED the number of tickets any group/household can purchase.
