This event has been requested for a bit because it is super exciting! Sandbox VR hosts several gaming rooms where, with the help of head and body gear, will plunge you into a TRUE virtual reality. Did you LOVE watching Stranger Things or Squid Games?! Well Sandbox VR has a variety of virtual reality scenarios including both of those themes. I have actually done the Squid Game and Zombie scenarios in an LA location and it was amazing! If you've always wanted to play but didn't have enough, or the right people, this is your chance to see whatcha got if you were immersed in the scene! Performer and burlesque historian Bebe Bardeaux, ranked #19 on the Burlesque Top 50 in 2024, will deliver a brief lecture on the history and culture of burlesque from its beginnings in the 19th century up to today. A full show will follow, featuring some of the most engaging burlesque and variety performers in the DC area. After the show, attendees can participate in a talk-back conversation with Bebe Bardeaux, along with the show’s producers, award-winning performer Delilah Dentata and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey alum Jim Dandy.

At long last, construction work at Arlington Central Library is complete, at least in the area that’s most important to AARGGH: the auditorium. The librarians are delighted to welcome us back for the first Grand Gaming Melee there in nearly three years. As in pre-construction days, we’ll have board games, card games, dice games, tile games, and just about every other kind of game that can be played on a tabletop. Bring games you want to play, or come without games and play what others bring. If you see a new one you want to try, there will be plenty of people eager to teach you. Don’t forget snacks! You’ll need to replenish your energy during the day, so please bring something delicious to share. Cookies, crackers, and pretzels are popular options, as are sodas and juices. Some people bring doughnuts, cupcakes, or other substantial sweets; these are always appreciated and disappear quickly. Others may provide healthy treats of fruit and vegetables – we appreciate everything you bring to share! **AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTE:** While the library welcomes us with open arms, it does not offer us an open refrigerator. Due to remodeling in the building, we no longer have access to a kitchen. **If you bring any drinks or foods that should remain chilled, you must bring a cooler for them.** Your host – as always – will bring a couple of coolers filled with freshly brewed iced tea and excellent store-bought lemonade. Undoubtedly there will be demand for more drinks than he can carry, so a few attendees should heed the call of the thirsty. If you bring something else to drink, please provide cold storage for it. This week is national unplayed games week, so we encourage you to break out those shrink-wrapped games you bought on a whim but haven't had a chance to try yet. Do your best to learn the game ahead of time to facilitate the process! let's get those dusty ones to the table! The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~20 per person. Soft drink refills are 1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. There is additional parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.
