Building Stories: Biographical Traces – Karl-Marx-Allee
Building Stories: Biographical Traces – Karl-Marx-Allee
**If the event is fully booked, feel free to join us at the meeting point.** A participatory urban walk exploring memory, monuments, architecture, and hidden narratives in public space through observation, storytelling, and photography. We will move slowly along Karl-Marx-Allee, treating the city as a layered archive of perception. Through guided observation exercises and short reflective prompts, participants are invited to explore how urban space is read through personal experience, collective memory, and everyday traces. This is not a tour, but a collective reading of the city. No prior experience required. **Materials:** smartphone, paper, pen, optional audio recording **Participation:** Participation by voluntary contribution (5–15 € suggested) **Meeting point:** Karl-Marx-Büste (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strausberger_Platz#Karl-Marx-B%C3%BCste), Berlin ([Strausberger Pl. 12, 10243 Berlin](https://maps.google.com/maps?vet=10CAAQoqAOahcKEwi4l8-__c-UAxUAAAAAHQAAAAAQJg..i&sca_esv=080e5c4976d32afe&pvq=OhUweDA6MHgzOWMxOWFkN2Y5ZDg2ZTY&fvr=1&cs=0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&fb=1&gl=de&sa=X&ftid=0x47a84e3e065a95dd:0x39c19ad7f9d86e6)) **Collective Archive (optional contribution):** Participants are invited to contribute to a shared archive of the walk: Upload here: https://padlet.com/denkmallab/Building_Stories_Memory_Walk_Contributions Contributions are voluntary and may include photos, notes, or audio fragments from the walk and are part of a collective open research experiment

The Other Side of Berlin: A Walk Through City's Hidden Gems
The Other Side of Berlin: A Walk Through City's Hidden Gems
Hello! We are the team at CaféIN, an inclusive café in Berlin, and we are launching a new Walk & Talk series. Together, we will discover an “alternative” side of Berlin: not the Berlin of clubs, nightlife and the city’s usual clichés, but a greener, calmer side shaped by local neighbourhoods, green spaces and places beyond the typical tourist routes. ❤️🌳🏡🏙 The idea is simple: to bring people together through walking, good conversations and shared experiences. Whether you are new to Berlin, looking to expand your social circle or simply want to spend a relaxed Saturday outdoors, everyone is welcome. 😎 How it works: • We meet at 12:00 in front of Rathaus Spandau. [https://maps.app.goo.gl/r1gZtMxX1nmWrzuT9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/r1gZtMxX1nmWrzuT9) • We walk through Spandau’s Old Town and continue towards Johannesstift. • Along the way, we will explore parts of Spandauer Forst, one of Berlin’s largest urban forests. • We finish the walk at CaféIN, our inclusive café located on the green Johannesstift campus in Spandau. [https://www.instagram.com/cafein_johannesstift/](https://www.instagram.com/cafein_johannesstift/) This will be an opportunity to continue conversations over coffee and discover a unique place that brings together culture, community and inclusion. The event will last around 3 to 4 hours, but everyone is free to leave earlier or stay longer. Please wear comfortable shoes and check the weather forecast beforehand 😜 This is a relaxed social event and everyone is responsible for themselves during the walk 😇
Hike from Lübben (Spreewald) to Schlepzig
Hike from Lübben (Spreewald) to Schlepzig
Join us for our second hike of the summer! We will start by meeting at (or at least boarding) the **10.40 RE2 (3112)** at **Ostkreuz** station, **Platform 13.** We will arrive at Lübben (Spreewald) at 11.25. *Note that if you miss this train, then the next one does not arrive until 11.56, so you will certainly miss us and won't be able to catch up!* The hike will go from Lübben to Schlepzig, along the canals and lakes of the beautiful Spreewald region. *(See photos for a rough route -- this is not necessarily accurate!)* The walk will be about 15 km and take about 4-5 hours. Bring lunch, snacks & water, comfortable walking shoes, and maybe even some sunglasses. We will stop a couple of places along the way, but will not stop long enough to order food, so bring your lunch! At the end of the walk, in Schlepzig, there is a Whisky brewery and a Biergarten. We will visit one or both. You can also get food at both. Then, we will take the 18:57 bus back to the starting point of Lübben Bahnhof. From there, we will catch the 19.34 RE2 (3129) back to Ostkreuz, arriving at 20.23. *(If you really want to, and if we get to Schlepzig in time, then you can also take the 16.52 bus to Lübben, then the 17.34 RE2 back to Berlin.)* **Note: We will reschedule this if the weather is too rainy. So definitely check back here before going!**

Cycle & dine - Rathenow to Brandenburg
Cycle & dine - Rathenow to Brandenburg
**ATTENTION - This tour is postponed now to the 4 July due to the heat to be expected this Sat.** **But everything else stays the same.** ========== FACTS ========== ROUTE: Rathenow > Milow > Kirchmöser > Brandenburg/H LEVEL: Intermediate DISTANCE: 45ish kms MEETING POINT: 09:20 - Berlin Südkreuz ========== FACTS ========== ========= DETAILS ========= **ROUTE:** Starting in Rathenow we have a very flat tour ahead of us. The first stop is planned after some 10km at the [GastHof Milow](https://gasthof-milow.com/) which is known for serving very delicious fish. Just in case there might not be enough seats available we will head further to Plaue, passing the Plauer See and then have plenty of other opportunities to sit down, look across the water and enjoy some food and a drink… or two. The final route depends on mood and weather! After \~45km we will arrive the main train station in Brandenburg/H where we can hop into any RE1 coming. **SPEED:** Leisurely around 14 km/h, at least if the wind doesn't come from the front. This is like "Being able to see the details on the side of the road and enjoying the view in general… and have a chat." **DISTANCE AND TERRAIN:** This is an about 45ish km ride, with mainly solid but also some soft ground. In general: Bikes with thin tyres (Race bikes, Road bikes, Fixies), rented bikes (Uber, Swapfiets) or any special bikes (Folding bikes, BMX etc.) are not suitable! You won't have fun, trust me! And if you want to bring Kids or Animals please get in touch before! **MEETING POINT:** 09:20 - Berlin Südkreuz, at the NORTHERN ticket machine (facing the TV tower) on platform 6. I have a blue Villiger Trekking bike. But you can hop in at any other station if you want (and dare). **TICKET:** It is 23,60 both ways / person, so this time it does make much sense to organise a BBT. I will get one if at least one other person wants to join me! And don't forget your "[24-hour ticket bicycle VBB network](https://www.vbb.de/en/tickets/tickets-for-your-bicycle/24-hour-ticket-bicycle/)" ticket which is about 7,50 EUR. **WAY OUT:** 09:44 - dep. Berlin Südkreuz, platform 6, taking RE4 to Stendal Hbf 10:04 - arr. Rathenow, platform 1 **WAY BACK:** 17:04 - dep. Brandenburg/H, platform 3, RE1 to Frankfurt/Oder 17:38 - arr. Berlin Wannsee, (ME) switching trains to S2 18:01 - arr. Berlin Friedrichstrasse OR any other train at :04 or :44 **RECOMMENDATIONS:** Check the train schedule in the morning! The DB loves to stir up the plans by changing trains on short notice! If anything happens the Meeting point is the starting point of the cycling. While we'll stop somewhere for a lunch and/or coffee please always bring your snacks but especially some drinks along! And, PLEASE make sure your bike is in a proper state! Check your tyre pressure and oil the chain! Does your light work? Having a toolset is highly recommended and a spare inner tube to fix a flat tyre a big plus! While we might be able to help in some circumstances please think about what happens if we can't! Thank you! Bringing special equipment (Helmet, safety vest etc.) is NOT required but welcome if you feel more safe using it. And in case you need special medical treatment please make me aware of that upfront. Even if everyone is responsible for themselves I'd like to be able to handle it if necessary. ========= DETAILS =========

How to Start Your Art Collection: Exclusive Visit to Artist Studio
How to Start Your Art Collection: Exclusive Visit to Artist Studio
Today we look at the works of an artist who over the past two decades, has built an oeuvre consisting primarily of screen prints on paper and canvas. Prior to that, the artist had worked extensively in photography, filmmaking, and set design. The screenprinting work is informed by architecture - ancient and modern structures, calligraphy, graffiti, handwriting, and the movement of the masses through big metropolises. Other techniques on paper are included in the visit - from lithography to etching, cyanotype to woodblock printing - and more! Please note, the studio visit starts promptly at 12:00. This studio is located on the top floor and has no elevator: you will have to walk four flights of stairs. Beverages will be served, poetry may be read. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR STUDIO VISITS: Get to know a handful of carefully selected artists who are enhancing, interjecting, and challenging art history through new media, new ideas, and new formats. Every artist builds their own universe, and for one exclusive afternoon, we are welcome into their sacred space of creation. The artist will tell their story and you are free to ask questions, engage in dialogue, and leave feeling inspired - and even with a beautiful new artwork to illuminate your space!

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋 **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries.
