This is not a lecture. This is not therapy. This is work. You’ll write, test, and refine a 3–5 minute stand-up set with live feedback from club owners, producers, and working comedians, then perform it in a public showcase at Backroom Comedy Club. **WHAT YOU GET** ✔ Weekly Sunday Workshops (6:00–7:45 PM) Hands-on sessions focused on: * Joke structure & fundamentals * Writing efficiently * Reading a room * Curation your own audience * Understanding how comedy rooms actually operates ✔ Live Feedback; Not Notes You’ll receive direct, honest feedback from: * Club owners * Producers * Professional, working comedians ✔ Guaranteed Stage Time Participants receive guaranteed access to open mics every Wednesday & Friday during the program (optional but strongly encouraged). ✔ Public Showcase / Initiation Ceremony All participants perform in a public showcase the following month; where everything comes together. ✔ Access to the Backroom Ecosystem Graduates gain pathways into the Backroom ecosystem (stage time, barking, show running, bar support, and more). As mentioned in the About Us, * Using the park track we can all go at our own pace and never really be left behind unless we all finish way ahead of you. :D I think an hour is enough time to dedicate to the run. I'm pretty slow, so you will likely have me around for most of the hour. * Members are free to leave the run whenever they want. * Bring your kids, your pets, your partners, etc. * All encouraged to stick around afterwards and enjoy the park or neighbourhood on your own. * Let's get stronger, healthier and foster a great community at the same time. Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you were quoted in *Truth in Comedy*, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**! The idea behind improvised comedy is to create entire scenes from scratch. A suggestion is taken from the audience and laughter is built on the spot. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway, Make Some Noise,* or *Wild 'n Out*; it can also be done in a longer way, to tell a complicated story, like *TJ & Dave*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and FREE!) weekly comedy event, brings the games for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Afterward, many members will hang out in *Gresso's* itself and get to know each other. Not only is this a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, your public speaking, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and build relationships that will last a lifetime, and you do that while laughing your butt off!
