Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen. Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have. We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too. Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best. We greatly appreciate a donation of โ‚ฌ5 to cover costs if it's possible for you. Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop). You are very welcome to our dojo!

Letโ€™s playโ€ฆ The Wildsea / The (Orc) Pope Is Dead
Letโ€™s playโ€ฆ The Wildsea / The (Orc) Pope Is Dead
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games - you will choose which game you play on the day. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination. This week's facilitators: * **Colin** will run The Wildsea: Centuries ago, the old world was swallowed by a sea of mile-high trees. Now you and your crew sail across the treetops of the Wildsea in a shop driven by a chainsaw. Low magic, high weird, leaf-punk adventures await! Your crew has heard rumors of same rare materials revealed by a recent storm and you are off to explore! * **Silvia** will run The (Orc) Pope Is Dead, yet another silly adventure by Grant Howitt. Terrible news: you and the lads went out drinking with the Pope last night and now heโ€™s dead. The orcish church of Bog-Al-Kurruk is without a leader. Can you and your mates - esteemed clerics all - work out which one of you itโ€™s going to be, and then outdo or discredit your rivals to claim the most prestigious title in the orc nation? *** Details for the event (number of groups and games) will be published here or earlier on our [Discord server](https://tinyurl.com/indie-rpgs-dublin). Feel free to ask the organisers any questions you have (here or on Discord).

Please have suitable footwear and clothes for the weather. Please bring water, suncream, snacks. Free event, as always. โ–  And as always, this is entirely in every way at your own risk. This is a loop hike. We start and finish at Woodbrook train station. Hello! ๐Ÿ™‚ Meeting time: 1040am. Departure time: 1045am sharp - please don't be late as we can't wait. Meeting place: We meet outside Woodbrook train station. Route: 13.8km. Expected time: 3hrs 15mins. Toilets: at Shanganagh cemetery near the start and end of the walk. Thanks! Any questions, message me. The walk will be cancelled if there is a yellow orange or red weather warning for Dublin or Wicklow for that day. Please please don't cancel on the day or forget to join us. Being a no show could result in you being removed from the group so please tell me if you're not joining us! Thanks! Alan

July Book Club Meetup
July Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers! Our July read is ***A Short Walk Through a Wide World*** *by Douglas Westerbeke*. We'll follow a young woman bound by a mysterious condition that forces her to keep moving across the globe. As she journeys through vibrant cities, quiet landscapes, and centuries of time, each stop reveals new connections, fleeting relationships, and deeper questions about belonging. The novel blends adventure with introspection, exploring what it means to search for home when you can never stay in one place. Itโ€™s both a love letter to the vastness of the world and a poignant meditation on identity, memory, and human connection. Looking forward to discussing with everyone We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar** Happy reading!
