Writing for and with AI
đ€ **AI is changing the way we work, how do tech writers adopt and adapt to these changes?**
At this month's event, our colleagues at Checkout.com will explore both sides of the coin: writing *for* AI, and writing *with* it.
First, **[Charlie Wildish](https://www.linkedin.com/in/charlie-wildish/)** (Staff Product Manager) and **[Preethy Sundaresan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/preethy-sundaresan-884543103/)** (Sr. Technical Writer) will walk us through content strategy for AI chatbots. Getting a chatbot right starts with defining how it speaks and what it knows, they'll break down how to build that foundation and the long-term plan needed to help the bot scale successfully.
Then, **[Sebastian Garcia Cardona](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sebastian-garcia-cardona/)** (Staff Technical Writer) will address the noise about AI replacing writers. For most of us, the reality is about finding a better way to work with AI. In this session, weâll share how we use these tools to speed up parts of daily workflows without losing the nuance that tech writing requires.

Free Meditation & Yoga on Thursdays in Greenwich @ 7.30pm
Hello there! - We'd like to welcome you to Free weekly meetings hosted by Shalini & Manitu which take place at the:
Greenwich West Community & Arts Centre, 141 Greenwich High Rd, SE10 8JA,
on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm until 9.00pm
With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and no special clothing required.
All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most transformative energy of all is hiding in plain sight, within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable.
It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it â everyone!. It is often likened to an inner feminine or motherly energy
which automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us restore balance and harmony within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, organically and cannot be paid for.
Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple time-honoured technique that lets you tap into that energy and harness its power to become better balanced and better connected to yourself â emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually
If you're having trouble juggling the challenges in your life, Sahaja Yoga Meditation might well help you manage stress, master your emotions and find solutions to your problems
. You may enjoy better health, better focus, and a deeper understanding of the universe and your place in it.
Meditation is not just for mystics and monks.
Sahaja Yoga meditation is for everyone. Anyone can do it. It's that easy. But with the Sahaja Yoga experience, you'll quickly realise, it isn't your typical Meditations 'R Us type class. It's much more than just feeling peaceful and relaxed. Sahaja Yoga Meditation has many layers, varied and deep. Explore at your own pace, in your own way. Our volunteer experts are always available to help.
Ready to plug into your inner energy? A Sahaja Yoga Meditation class is a great way to start. A few minutes of your life may be all it takes to connect to your inner energy and light the path to lifelong transformation. Sahaja Yoga is more than a temporary solution or quick relief â it is a journey, rather than a destination. It's all about energy â guaranteed pure and carbon neutral. You can never have too much of it.
The best part? All classes are free. No strings, no catch.
Everyone is welcome. Bring a friend, bring your self â all are welcome.
We have a web site here in London too which you can visit for more info about weekly meetings: www.sahajayogalondon.co.uk (http://www.sahajayogalondon.co.uk/)

Talk: Masculinities on stage and screen
This is part of the British Academy's series of the Age of Self:
"What do the characters on our screens and stages reveal about masculinity today? How do cultural narratives shape and challenge ideas of boyhood and manhood? And what stories should be told next?
Join leading researchers and creatives for a richly illustrated discussion on the theme of masculinity in film, television and theatre.
Drawing on vivid examples and clips, film historian Professor Stella Bruzzi FBA, award-winning playwright Inua Ellams, and British Academy-funded researcher Dr Rob Lawson will examine different portrayals of masculinity, how cultural representations have evolved over time and what stories we need to tell to help boys and men flourish in a changing world."
đșđŹ I SAW THE TV GLOW
***đŒ*** ***Step into a neon dreamscape where reality flickers!***
**đ Hi guys!** Join me for a surrealist psychological horror film written and directed by **Jane Schoenbrun**. This film is widely interpreted as a poignant, haunting allegory for identity and repression featuring a 90s nostalgia-driven aesthetic.
The film follows two teenagers, Owen and Maddy, who bond over a mysterious, canceled late-night TV show, causing their realities to crack.
Weâll meet for a relaxed drink at **Victory House Wine Bar** before heading to **Prince Charles Cinema**. The filmâs on **Screen 1** and Iâll be on seat **F10** if anyone wants to join me. After the film weâll chat about it and review it for **[Letterboxd](Letterboxd)**.
Let's carry that haunted feeling long after the screen fades to black.
**See you all there,**

**A note about the format**
We donât host readings and feedback. (But we can signpost to events that do).
Whether you're writing for a professional goal, academic project, private thoughts and wellbeing, or purely casual enjoyment, (or still deciding!) - don't worry we won't be asking each other to share details.
You can just arrive, make yourself comfortable with anything you need, and get on with whatever you decide.
No-one will be reading your work or judging if you've met targets. We don't set group goals and deadlines: we're just here to help each other with our own - where needed.
Or to switch off and talk about something else completely, if you need that instead!
This is a social event and aimed at bringing new people together. Not just a co-working space.
**Respect**
Please also note our Code of Conduct: [www.shutupwrite.com/code-of-conduct](https://www.shutupwrite.com/code-of-conduct)

QGâs Miles and Smiles Monthly Walk - Greenwich to London Bridge
Meeting Location:
Greenwich Foot tunnel entrance by cutty Sark
What3words for the meeting location - ///owners.chip.drives
( or simply click the link - https://what3words.com/owners.chip.drives)
Meeting time: 10:30 AM.
We will gather for the QG's first walk by the entrance to the Iconic Greenwich foot tunnel next to Cuttysark and head west towards London Bridge where we aim to arrive in approx 2.5hrs covering approx 7 miles. Depending on the interest and weather thereâs an option to plunder Borough market for some food before we depart our ways. For those who prefer a shorter walk can make use of the train/tube station along the walk too!
The entire walk will be along the Tamesis witnessing the remains of by gone era, from the glazed architecture of 21st century to half-timbering Tudor, cozy warehouse dwellings once symbolised the colonial trade, spot that set off the pilgrims to the so called free world, beaches of Bermondsey to creeks of Deptford, Rotherhithe tunnel to Tower bridge - Engineering marvels that challenges the time, and many more to spot on the day as we explore together!
Things that I usually consider for my walks:
Food and drink to get through the walk.
Water: Aleast two litres.
Day rucksack: That is comfortable to wear and allows free arm movements.
Walking Boots: waterproof and breathable. trainers are OK if the ground is dry.
Gaiters: recommended for wet weather conditions.
Socks: proper walking socks to keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters.
Layered clothing: helps to quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. A base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather additional outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers: Ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and on warm days shorts are OK.
Waterproof jacket: An essential in wet weather.
Hat or cap: stay warm in winter and shaded in summer
Sunglasses: Essential for any summer walk
Sun cream: when the weather dictates.
Note:
Please be advised this is a free, self-guided trip organised by a community group. All trip details, travel advice, and planning come from personal knowledge and suggestions and is not a professional service. The community group seeks to offer the space and opportunity to enjoy activities with others led by a host, but is not a guided tour in the business sense. While trips are planned with care, participants are entirely responsible for their own safety, as well as any travel, insurance and accommodation, (as necessary). The group and its organisers do not take responsibility for any injury, damage or loss of any kind. While we will do our upmost to provide trips which go ahead based on published plans and will seek to notify members of any changes to plans, it should be noted that trips may be confirmed or postponed short notice due to on weather conditions, logistical difficulties or any other reason for which the group and its organisers do not accept any loss be that financial or otherwise.
In agreeing to attend and/or attending a trip or part thereof you confirm understanding of and agreement to the above terms and conditions.

WRITE CLUB: one hour of silent writing (or reading) in the company of others
The first rule of WRITE CLUB is that you do not talk ***during*** WRITE CLUB.
This very simple meetup is based on the premise that public and peer accountability enables more productive writing than sitting at home and getting distracted by the fridge.
We will write/read for an hour in silence. (I will be writing thought experiments for my other meetup group: [THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS](https://www.meetup.com/thought-experiments-in-pubs))
If you'd like to hang out afterwards, or if you prefer just to hang out, I have another event immediately afterwards in the same place :-) You can find that here: [HANGING OUT AT THE SOUTHBANK](https://www.meetup.com/experimentsin/events/313686740)
And if you'd like to finish the evening with a dance, there is a free social salsa meetup just outside The Southbank Centre just afterwards. More info [here](https://www.instagram.com/salserosfriends/).
**This event will take place in the foyer of The Southbank Centre.**
You can find us by looking out for:
* A tote bag with WRITE CLUB sewn onto it
* My T-Shirt, which will have HANGING OUT embroidered on the back of it
* A big red flag with THE SUNRISE CLUB emblazoned on it (though this clearly isn't THE SUNRISE CLUB! If you want to find out about that, you can do so [here](https://www.meetup.com/the-sunrise-club/).)
* Other writers - who may be spread out across the centre. They will have white pieces of paper with the WRITE CLUB stamp at the top of the page.
There are plenty of places to buy refreshments, but you can also bring your own if you prefer.

Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.

Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for allâthe venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.

Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The Café on Saturday!
Shut Up & Write!âą Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
âą What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (Iâll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
COLUMBUS SPIRITUALITY MEETUP
We are excited to host Guided Meditations on Sundays at 6 pm in our Ashram/Gallery/Home! !! !!
Everyone wants to know what kind of God we worship and what kind of meditation we do. We worship the GOD that LOVES US! We understand that god is an energy and it lives in us as us. Our meditations guide others to actually experience that energy! xoxo We don't just talk about peace, love and affection, we experience it :)
Also we are a home not a business, so we enjoy building community one friend at a time. We always build in time for people to mingle & develop friendships! xoxo Much Love, Frank Tennyson
