Shutter Space Opening Reception
Shutter Space invites viewers into a visual journey where the stillness of nature and the pulse of the urban world converge. This exhibit brings together a curated selection of landscape and cityscape photography, each frame capturing a distinct encounter between place, light, and perspective. From sweeping natural vistas to the intricate geometry of metropolitan life, the works in Shutter Space explore how environments shape us and how we, in return, shape them.

AI Safety Thursday: Implications of Continual Learning in LLM Agents
This is a ticketed event. Please register at [this link](https://luma.com/uvgbxv2c).
Continual learning is a core ability behind humans’ ability to perform economically valuable tasks. As frontier AI companies train LLM agents to be increasingly autonomous, they are likely aggressively pursuing approaches to continual learning in LLMs. In this talk, [Rohan Subramani](https://rohansubramani.github.io/home/) and [Rauno Arike](https://www.linkedin.com/in/rauno-arike/) discuss the potential implications of this development on the capabilities and of LLM agents and its effect on AI safety and alignment.
Little Ethiopia on Danforth (5.2 km)
Toronto has a substantial Ethiopian and Eritrean population that sustains two enclaves. This hike goes through the larger one along Danforth Avenue, centered on Greenwood Avenue. There are solid mid-range restaurants along this stretch. Ethiopian, obviously, but also a "Toronto-style" pizza restaurant, Venzuelan arepas, and Toronto's only Dutch restaurant. Not forgetting the largest outpost for Kawartha Dairy ice cream in Toronto.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. The cafes and restaurants in this neighbourhood are a good opportunity to sample the acidic blend. Don't miss out on Ethiopian food if you've never had it before. It's unlike any other cuisine, featuring fermented spongy bread (injera), paprika and cardamom-laced curries, and even raw beef (kitfo).
The Ethiopian restaurants along The Danforth are similar, so we'll pick one based on consensus. Good or bad news: there is no cutlery; you are expected to eat with your hands.
**Highlights**
1. Greenwood subway station (depart 6:30pm)
2. Borrel
3. Wazema / The Wood Owl / Rendez-Vous
4. La Cigogne / La Vegan
5. Pomarosa
6. Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant
7. Mofer Coffee (depart 7pm)
8. The Rail Garden / Monarch Park
9. Garage murals along Felstead Avenue playground
10. Desta Market (depart 7:40pm)
11. Danforth Dragon / Square Boy / Abyssinia / Danforth Pizza House / Kawartha Dairy

Not sure what to try? Join our omakase for $5, which gives a tiny sample from different restaurants. Payment on the day of event by cash or e-transfer to [globaltorontoeats@gmail.com.](http://globaltorontoeats@gmail.com.) No refunds after orders are placed. Details of sampled food will be uploaded after the hike.

Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program:
Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there!
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Want to Truly Heal from Emotional Trauma?
Why are we unhappy? Where does emotional pain come from? Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few.
How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it. In fact, in severe cases, people find themselves playing a "tape" in their mind over and over again.
So how do you heal from your past? How do you stop the "tape" playing in your mind? In this meeting, you will learn a technique to help you with that.
Come join us! Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology life improvement center.
