**Education: Past, Present, and Future – Knowledge, Power, and Society** Education is a central institution in human societies, shaping how knowledge is produced, distributed, and legitimized. It plays a crucial role in structuring social hierarchies, political participation, and economic opportunities. While often understood as a pathway to equality and personal development, education also contributes to the reproduction of existing inequalities. Historically, access to education was restricted to elites and religious institutions. The expansion of public education since the Enlightenment marked a shift toward broader inclusion, closely tied to processes of industrialization and democratization. Education became both a public good and a key mechanism for enabling social mobility and civic participation. At the same time, education is not neutral. Educational systems can reproduce social inequality by privileging certain forms of knowledge, language, and behavior that align with dominant social groups. They can also function as mechanisms of discipline, shaping norms, expectations, and patterns of behavior. In this sense, education operates at the intersection of knowledge and power. Yet education also holds transformative potential. It can expand access to knowledge, foster critical thinking, and create opportunities for individuals to move beyond structural constraints. It therefore simultaneously functions as a mechanism of social reproduction and as a driver of greater equality. In contemporary contexts, education is being reshaped by digitalization, globalization, and changing economic demands. English blow ⬇️ Hey ihr lieben, wir bieten einen kleinen Filzworkshop an, in dem ihr eure Haustiere Filzen könnt! Wir bringen alles mit, ihr müsst euch um nichts kümmern! Meldet euch einfach an und bringt Motivation mit euer individuelles Tierchen zu filzen. Das ganze findet in einem Kaffee statt, also ist ebenfalls für Kaffee, Tee und leckeren Kuchen gFilzen. Bitte bedenkt, dass es in diesem Workshop nicht um Perfektion, sondern vor allem um Spaß geht! Nicht jedes Tierchen wird am Ende einen Schönheits Wettbewerb gewinnen, aber aus eigener Erfahrung können wir sagen, dafür sind sie meist wirklich süß und umso wertvoller. Für die Materialien und Organisation würden wir uns über eine kleine Spende von 5-10€ freuen. Hey everyone, we’re offering a small felting workshop where you can create your own felted pets! We’ll bring all the materials, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Just sign up and bring your motivation to felt your very own little animal. The workshop will take place in a café, so there will also be coffee, tea, and delicious cake available. Please keep in mind that this workshop is not about perfection, but mainly about having fun! Not every little animal will win a beauty contest, but from our experience, they usually turn out really cute and all the more special because of it. Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. Summer Social: Let's kick off summer with Adult field day at Shadybowl! FREE
We’re bringing back Adult Field Day. Last year was a good mix of competition and just hanging out, so we’re doing it again with some new games mixed in. Think team-based challenges, simple races, and a few things inspired by game shows. You don’t need to be athletic. Most of the fun is just being part of a team and getting to know people you wouldn’t normally talk to. The goal isn’t really winning. It’s meeting people, laughing a bit, and leaving knowing a few more names than when you showed up. If you stick around after, we’ll have a potluck, a bonfire, and a couple comedians in the evening. We are recruiting new group leaders for virtual men's groups! Our primary groups are outdoor movement groups, but we are launching virtual groups for the state of Ohio and beyond and the groups will move outside in the spring, creating room for men's groups, women's groups and coed groups all over the country. Read below to learn about our groups and click the links at the bottom to apply. ### **What is an Outdoor Empowerment Group?** Our Outdoor Movement & Community Empowerment Groups are simple, guided experiences designed to help people reconnect with nature, themselves, and others. We combine some form of movement (hike, walk, run, bike, yoga, workout) and meaningful conversation within a simple community circle to create a space where individuals can support each other while prioritizing mental and physical well-being. Whether you’re seeking stress relief, personal growth, or community, our groups offer everyone a unique and welcoming environment. ## **Why Join?** * **Improve Mental & Physical Well-Being** – Movement, nature, and supportive conversations reduce stress and promote balance. * **Feel Less Alone** – Build genuine connections with like-minded people in a safe, welcoming space. * **Gain Clarity & Perspective** – Step outside daily routines and into a space designed for personal growth and reflection. ## **The Ideal Group Leader** The ideal group leader * Has a born-in passion for mental health, movement, connecting with nature and building community. * Has 5 extra hours per week to dedicate to a meaningful cause for at least one year. Yes, you can leave any organization at any time and we can also ask you to leave, but we are building with legacy in mind and we need people who can commit and be ALL IN on this mission to build with us. * Is independently financially stable with the ability to volunteer with no expectation of pay.
