HKWD April: AI, Agile and Productivity. Production Ready And Scalable AI
HKWD April: AI, Agile and Productivity. Production Ready And Scalable AI
This month we have 3 talks Talk 1: Day to Day AI Talk 2: Scalable AI Talk 3: Production Ready AI Talk 1: Day to Day AI - AI, Agile and Productivity AI is changing not only how we work but how we plan and organise our projects. Join us for a quick overview of how we can leverage AI to take some of the heavy lifting out of effective planning, how AI can transform opaque requirements into actionable work and general tips and tricks for everyday productivity. About Conor Foley Senior Agile Coach and Delivery Lead Conor is an Agile Coach and Senior Delivery Lead with 18+ years delivering complex, multi-region transformations across Asia and Europe. He combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to advise C-suite leaders on strategy, execution, and digital transformation. Talk 2: Scalable AI - From 50 to 50K: Scaling an AI Application Under Pressure—Lessons from a High-Stakes Launch Description: Scaling an AI-powered application from 50 MVP users to 50,000 for a high-stakes go-live is a daunting challenge—especially when you only have one shot to get it right. In this talk, we’ll share our firsthand experience navigating the technical, operational, and security hurdles of scaling under pressure Topics: Scaling the Application: handling a 1,000x increase in users—from architecture and performance to real-time monitoring and optimization. DevOps: How we automated, tested, and deployed at scale while minimizing risk and ensuring reliability. Security: Security for AI application developed with AI tools. Lessons from the Front Lines: Key takeaways for teams facing high-stakes launches, including how to prepare for the unexpected and deliver under pressure. About Ricardo Leading a team of experienced engineers, with background from both startup and corporate environments to build innovative solutions for large scale events. Focusing on technical leadership and practical outcomes. Talk 3: Production Ready AI: Your Client Wants AI, Now What? Description: Every client is asking for AI now, but what do you actually do when that first request lands? This talk walks through a real project where a client asked for "automated data entry" and what we actually built: an AI pipeline that turns product images into structured listings using vision models. I'll cover how to scope AI work, what went right, what didn't (the 90% to 100% accuracy trap), and why designing for human in the loop beats promising full automation. Practical advice for web devs taking on their first AI project. About Samuel Ng Co-Founder of POPBO Net, a Hong Kong IT consultancy. 15 years building web and ecommerce products, now focused on running hands on AI enablement workshops and building AI agents that automate real business workflows. Topic: AI integration for web development projects, practical lessons from real client work **About the organiser** **Rhys Turner** Co founder, Creative Technologist and Director, Tronica Rhys Turner is a Creative Technologist and Innovation Technologist, specialising in the intersection of technology, design, and luxury experiences. For our first event, we invite you to share your personal “big 3” anime! (Responding to to the theme is optional.) * Come to the event and chat with other anime and manga geeks. * Please enable DMs from other members and turn on notifications so that our team can communicate with you. Hope to see you there! Christina (she/they) & Kieran (they/them) **Please note...** 1\. None of our organisers profit from events; any charges listed are those from other parties and we never add a mark\-up\. In this context\, we need attendees to do their best to reduce the workload of our volunteer team by reading the event description and these notes carefully; and follow the instructions in order to register a place on the event\. Please be considerate and helpful with our team – we are all volunteers\. 2\. We run all our event communication through WhatsApp\. Please keep track of event related messages in the Whatsapp event group and respond to requests and instructions from organisers within 24hrs\. Please don’t put the chat on mute\. If our team don’t receive your response within 24hrs\, we will move you to “Not Going”\. 3\. If you require special accessibility accommodations for the event \(i\.e\.\, accessible venue\, accessible restrooms\, noise levels\, lighting conditions\, etc\) and are unsure whether they can be met\, please reach out to the organiser/host\. 4\. If you sign up\, but can no longer make it\, please update your RSVP as soon as possible and tell the organiser\. Updating your RSVP well ahead of the event allows us to manage the waitlist; allow other people to attend; know who to look out for at the start of the event; and manage any relevant bookings\, such as table reservations\. 6\. If you don’t have a clear face pic on your profile and/or your username doesn’t match the name you normally use\, we can’t identify your payments nor match your RSVP with who you are in real life\. If this is you\, please ensure the organiser knows who you are\. If we can’t work out who you are within 24hrs of your RSVP\, we will move you to “Not Going”\. Only group members and their guests with an RSVP may attend events; people who aren’t signed up will be refused entry to events. 7\. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise. We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration. Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team. **YouTube Link** TBD

CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
