Intervals Workout Session 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻 Hippodrome de Boitsfort
We do cycles of 4-6 weeks, with a progressive intensity, and the last session is lighter.
Program:
15’ warm up
**To be defined**
Cool down to get back to the starting point… or more
S=All out sprint
RF = Run fast, at MAS (Maximum aerobic speed)
CF = Run comfortably fast (1h threshold)
J = Jog, recuperation
Notes:
It should take about one hour in total, as the cool down will end when we reach back to the meeting point.
It's NOT required to have an activity tracker or smart watch to be able to follow the program, as I'll be giving signals with a whistle.
For the "run" part, you can follow your own pace and we'll be regrouping in the "jog" part.
Intervals training is not advised for total beginners. To have an idea, the average pace at the warm up is around 5'45"/km-6'/km so this pace should feel very comfortable
***Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability.***

Blood on the clock tower (Intermediate) @ Sofitel Place Jourdan
**Please update your attendance if you can not join as this game as we need to know the exact number of players.**
We will most likely play the following script:
**Script:** [A Grim Chorus ](https://www.botcscripts.com/script/2974/1.6.1)
Day-off session: Multiple games
1st May is a holiday ! So why not having a full afternoon of gaming there on that day ? If you feel likewise, then join this event!
Unlike most of our events, this is a more improvised one : some attendees bring their games, and we decide on the spot what we'll play. You may also post your ideas of what you want to bring/play in the comments, to gauge interest among the participants.
Outpost opens at 11:30, so you may come from that time, but you can also come a bit later if you wish. Because it's Friday, we'll need to vacate the place towards 6 or 7 PM.
**Please RSVP to this event if you wish to come**. Do not come without having done so. It makes it easier to plan that way.
Although you can arrive at any time, **please post your estimated time of arrival in the comments**. It will make it easier to organise the tables that way.
**Don't forget to unsubscribe from the event if you aren't able to come.** Someone else might take your place in that case. Don't block it if you don't come.

Picnic & Games 🌳🧺🏸 🎲 (TBC🌤️)
What's up Friends! 👋
If the weather gods feel generous 🌤️, we’re going full park mode: picnic 🧺🌳, games, laughs… and a touch of chaos ✨
‼️If not - we'll switch to the usual indoor format at Le Pantin or Café Leopold PDN.
📍Where
Park Cinquantenaire, Tour de Tournai 🏰 (that little castle-looking thingy in the park).
Can’t find us? 🤷♀️ Just ping me here.
💡 The Idea
Chill picnic: bring your own drinks 🧃, snacks 🥪🍓, blanket, and games 🎲🏸 (sharing always appreciated 😋).
We’ll break into small groups depending on the vibe: games, chats, sports.
⏱️ Timing
We kick off at 14:00. Stay as long as you like.
Joining later? Just drop a message in the chat in case we decide to move 😊.
🎲🏸 Games
All games are welcome in the park - boards, cards, balls, random stuff! I’ll have a few with me, but feel free to add your own favorites too.
🚦On the waitlist but really want to join? Or got any questions? Just DM me.
📢 Extra info might drop in the group chat or via DM 💬. Check your messages 👀 the day before so you don't miss anything critical 🙄.
🐈⬛ The Friends Code:
👉 Games we play = group decision
👉 Smaller groups = cozier vibes
👉 Got a favorite game? Suggest it or show up with it
👉 Can't make it? Cancel on time so someone on the waitlist can grab your spot
👉 If you’re on the waitlist, showing up is at your own risk 😄
See you there, folks 😉
Dinant loop (25 km)
As the other days of the long weekend look somewhat rainy, here another suggestion for the sunny Friday - a hike starting and ending in the picturesque town of Dinant.
We will get a warm-up climb out of town along the quarry of Leffe, until the path levels out and takes us on a big loop on top of the plateau, with mostly open landscape, fields, meadows and apparently even some wineyards. Expect wide views, some small forests and a few pretty villages along the way. Finally we will steeply descend back into Dinant, where we can find treats for all tastes before heading home.
The number of participants is limited to 20, so please manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you can’t (this also goes for people on the waiting list!).
We will try to keep close to an average moving speed of 5km/h. We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. I’ve not tested this track beforehand, so it’s possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-).
●●You can find the gpx track here:
**Komoot:** https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2797070348?share_token=ampZcY2zXOi42SDm4snE9c1mxHKcu56TO4PNySvYJnl00cHCmq&ref=wtd
**Wikiloc:** https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/dinant-loop-261693472
●●Meeting point:
We meet at 9.10 in Bruxelles Schuman train station in front of the ticket machines. Our train (IC 2509 to Dinant) leaves from platform 2 at 09.23. We'll arrive in Dinant at 10.49.
●● Train ticket:
One way ticket is 11.40€ or 6.80€ with train+
●● Trains back to Brussels:
Direct trains from Dinant to BXL are every hour at XX.13, with an additional connection at XX.38 with change in Namur every two hours.
●● Specifics:
Distance: ± 25 km
Elevation gain: 420 m
Net walking time: ± 5.5 h
Weather forecast: sunny and warm.
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, I may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, I will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the Meetup website and/or your emails.
●● What to bring:
* Comfortable hiking clothes
* Comfortable hiking shoes
* water + food for the breaks
* tick/mosquito repellent
* Compeed for blisters
* some small money for the drinks
●● Basic rules:
Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse.
Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the “going” list.
●● Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability:
You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability.

Prep Run #4! (the Grand Finale: The Home Stretch & the Breakaway - 16k)
The energy is electric! Following our double-climb session on the Avenue de Tervuren, we are officially entering the final stretch of our preparation. It’s time for our fourth and final preview run—the dress rehearsal before the big day.
For this session, we are stepping up the distance to **16km**. This route is all about rhythm and mental toughness as we cover the iconic closing stretch of the Brussels 20k course, from the lush greenery of Bois de la Cambre all the way to the triumphal arches of Parc du Cinquantenaire.
***
### The Details
* **Meeting Point:** Right in front of **Muski Comics Cafe** (near Rond-point Schuman).
* **When:** Sunday, May 3rd at 09:45 AM.
* **The Route:** A 16km point-to-point style loop focusing on the final 75% of the official course, including the forest paths and that legendary home stretch.
* **Bag Drop:** Available.
* **The "Cuppa":** We’ll reconvene at Muski Comics Cafe post-run to swap stories, talk strategy, and refuel.
***
### The Pace: Social Start, Strong Finish
We are trying something a little different this time to simulate race-day adrenaline.
1. **The Build-up:** From the start through Bois de la Cambre and the surrounding neighborhoods, we will maintain our **"steady and social" pace of 6:00–6:15 min/km**.
2. **The Release:** Once we hit the base of the **Avenue de Tervuren uphill**, the "social" rules are off! Participants are no longer tied to the group pace. You are invited to **open your feet** and tackle the climb and the final sprint to the finish line at your own target race pace.
***
### Pro Tip: Visualizing the Finish
> "When you hit Tervuren this time, visualize the crowds and the finish line arches. Use the first 12km to find your flow, then use the final 4km to test your lungs and your heart. This is where the race is won!"
Let’s bring that final-boss energy and conquer the home stretch together. See you at Muski Comics Cafe for the ultimate warm-up!

Cinematek : Eat Drink Man Woman
**Cinematek : Eat Drink Man Woman**
03/05 @ 16h30
Ang Lee’s generous, touching Eat Drink Man Woman focuses on master chef Chu and his three daughters (all of them living at home) as they confront seismic changes in their lives. The film is the third instalment in Ang Lee’s family trilogy, known unofficially (and ironically) as the Father Knows Best series, largely because venerable actor Sihung Lung (whom Lee lured out of retirement) played a father in each film. Constructed around a series of all-in family dinners, where each of the characters eventually (very reluctantly) drops a bombshell announcement, Eat Drink hinges on the tension between modernity and tradition, family and personal freedom, and, especially, the necessity of confiding and sharing. With the profound empathy that typifies his best work, Lee drops us into the drama without much explanation and carefully disrupts our assumptions about the characters ― and the narratives they construct about themselves. By the end, no one is exactly who we thought they were at the beginning. It’s driven by a formidable cast, including Yang Kuei-Mei as Jia-Jen, the eldest daughter and a devout Christian; Wu Chien-Lien as airline executive Jia-Chien (who has the most problematic relationship with her father); Yu-Wen Wang as the youngest daughter Jia-Ning; and legendary actor director Sylvia Chan as Jia-Jen’s best friend Jin-Rong. Warning: plan for a late meal. Lee’s masterful montages of Chu and Jia-Chien cooking are as mouthwatering and hunger-inducing as the noodles in Jûzô Itami’s Tampopo.

**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the first three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*

Duty vs. Results: What Makes an Action Moral?
When judging morality, should we prioritize **intentions/duty** or **outcomes/results**? It introduces two influential philosophers as representatives of these approaches.
* **Immanuel Kant (deontology):** An action is moral when it is done from **duty** and follows rational, universal principles (the **categorical imperative**). Certain acts—like lying—are wrong regardless of the consequences; you can’t do a wrong thing for a right reason.
* **John Stuart Mill (utilitarian consequentialism):** The morality of an action is determined by its **effects**, specifically how much **happiness/well-being** it produces. Mill argues that some pleasures are “higher” than others, and that good intentions don’t redeem harmful outcomes.
## Discussion Questions
1. **The lying dilemma:** A murderer comes to your door and asks if your friend is hiding inside. Kant would say you must not lie.
2. **Can good intentions rescue a bad outcome?**
3. **The organ harvest problem:** A surgeon has five patients dying of organ failure and one healthy patient in for a checkup. Killing the one to harvest organs would save five lives, and the math works out for the utilitarian. Why does this feel so deeply wrong? Is that feeling a point in Kant's favor, or just a bias we should overcome?
4. **Do rules need exceptions?** Kant insists moral rules must be universal, with no exceptions. But most of us can imagine extreme scenarios where any rule seems like it should bend. Does the need for exceptions fatally undermine deontology, or is the strength of the system precisely that it refuses to bend?
5. **Who gets to calculate the consequences?** Utilitarianism asks us to maximize good outcomes, but we're notoriously bad at predicting consequences. If we can't reliably know the results of our actions, is it practical to base our entire moral system on outcomes? Does this uncertainty push us back toward rules and principles?
6. **Everyday morality:** Think about a real moral decision you've made recently, even a small one. Did you reason more like a Kantian (what's the right thing to do in principle?) or more like a utilitarian (what will produce the best result?)? Do most people naturally lean one way?
7. **Justice vs. the greater good:** A town can prevent a deadly plague by sacrificing one innocent person. The greater good is clearly served. But is it just? Can an action be morally right and deeply unjust at the same time?
8. **The big synthesis question:** Are these two systems actually opposed, or do they often arrive at the same answers by different paths? Is it possible that we need both: rules to guide us in the moment and consequences to evaluate systems and policies over time?

In subsequent classes we will verify and hone our talents with activities and discussion. These are hands-on workshops and participation is expected.
The goal of our series will be to develop expertise in areas of particular interest such as mediumship, channeling, divination, healing and, etc.. Our ultimate directions will be determined by class members as we evolve.

Daniel leads a rich life in the university town of Athens, Georgia. He's got a couple close friends, a steady paycheck working for a regional airline, and of course, for a few glorious days each Fall, college football tailgates. He considers himself to be a mostly lucky guy -- despite the fact that he's suffered from a debilitating disease since he was a small child, one that has left him unable to speak or to move without a wheelchair. Largely confined to his home, Daniel spends the hours he's not online communicating with irate air travelers observing his neighborhood from his front porch. One young woman passes by so frequently that spotting her out the window has almost become part of his daily routine. Until the day he's almost sure he sees her being kidnapped.
