It’s honestly the most fun we’ve had and I’m inviting everyone of you because something’s been happening for a while now and you just don’t know about it…It’s a Showcase of some of the Best London bands playing their music in London - and it’s also a MEETUP group, so you can watch the gig with a mix of regular members and newcomers. Sketchbook: Hill Garden & Pergola
Sketchbook: Hill Garden & Pergola
Let's sketch the Pergola at Hampstead Heath! Bit of a change of pace from the urban environment but I want to try and explore the world's greenest city more thoroughly. This area looks bloomin' lovely with lots of beautiful nature scenes, hopefully the weather will be good! The best way to get to the Pergola at Hampstead Heath is by taking the Northern Line to Golders Green or Hampstead stations, both of which are about a 10-20 minute walk away. You can also use bus routes 210 and 268 for convenient access. Inverforth Close, North End Way, Hampstead Heath, London, GB NW3 7EX Rendez vous by the big lake/infinity pool bit Completely free of charge, no need to sign up, bring a friend! Feel free to drop in for the whole two hours or just short while if you'd prefer. Look for the tall ginger fella sketching away as the central meetup spot, I'll hang by the pool but feel free to roam as far and wide as you like and sketch anything you damn well please! Please bring your own sketchbooks and pens/pencils. The plan will be to meet at 1pm, sketch for a couple of hours and meet back and chat at 3pm. We can then meet back in the garden and compare pictures. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- About Sketchbook London Every week we will choose a location around the magnificent city of London and draw people, buildings, pigeons, bins, anything you want.... Beyond Figure Painting – Explore your Art Voice
Beyond Figure Painting – Explore your Art Voice
**The workshop consists of two sessions:** **Sunday 12th and Monday 13th of April** **10.00am- 4.00pm (on-site)** For many of us, working from life -especially with a model- is a cornerstone of our artistic practice. Building on a long tradition, we often reach a point where we crave more personal expression in our work. Whether this urge arises on day one or after years of practice, the question remains: How do we find our unique artistic voice? How can we expand into abstraction or imagination? How do we bridge the gap between working with a model in the studio and continuing our creative journey at home? Sharing from their personal practice, Suzon will guide participants in discovering and nurturing their own creative voice throughout this two-day workshop. An opportunity to expand your creative toolbox and discover new ways of working. **Day 1** We’ll explore visual brainstorming techniques and discover how to infuse our paintings with a deeply personal touch. Focusing on one key concept at a time, we’ll experiment with pushing, stretching, and playing with these ideas to develop a language that feels both personal and intentional. • How can we use values to evoke specific sensations? • Which colours best convey our emotions? • How can our marks and composition and add deeper layers of meaning to our work? By the end of the day, you’ll have learned new skills and ways to engage creatively. Most importantly, you’d have remembered that ‘Learning to paint well’ is one great thing, but ‘Learning to create the paintings that no one else’s but you could paint’ is the true magic! **Day 2, working with a model** We’ll apply our expanded creative toolbox to the unique challenge of working with a model. Moving beyond straightforward representation, we’ll create paintings that are grounded in reality yet elevated by your personal artistic choices. No two paintings will be the same: they’ll each be a mirror of your unique artistic voice. These two days are perfect for anyone eager to deepen their connection to their creative voice and develop a more personal painting practice. Whether you are an experienced painter or new to the practice, Suzon welcomes participants at all levels and with any medium: oil, acrylic, gouache, colour pencils… come with what inspires you! The workshop will take place in a supportive and inspiring environment, encouraging creative risk-taking, curiosity, and the discovery of your own visual signature. We plan to share a vegetarian lunch, optional. **[Info and bookings on our website](https://www.dulwichartgroup.co.uk/product/beyond-figure-painting-explore-your-art-voice/)**
PORTRAIT IN EGG TEMPERA MASTERCLASS- WITH ARTIST ROBIN-LEE HALL – 11 APRIL 2026
PORTRAIT IN EGG TEMPERA MASTERCLASS- WITH ARTIST ROBIN-LEE HALL – 11 APRIL 2026
**Join artist Robin-Lee Hall for a masterclass in how to paint in the ancient medium of egg tempera.** Egg tempera is a beautifully delicate medium, allowing you to build luminescent layers and fine detail. The medium was used by artists such as Sandro Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, and helped to define their painting and drawing styles. The process of creating an egg tempera painting is unlike any other painting medium. There are no harmful solvents involved, just powdered pigment mixed with egg and water. It feels at first like watercolour and dries just as quickly. However, successive layers of paint create a luminous colour saturated finish. The medium also allows you to create intricate detail and layering of mark making to create volumous surfaces. Join us to draw with pure colour! ***Outline of the day*** Participants will learn how to make their own paint, learn about raw pigments, mix colour and handle the medium. This will then be applied to developing a small work, either from still life or a reference image. All materials are provided. ***Your Tutor*** Robin-Lee Hall is a prize-winning artist and Past President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. She works primarily in egg tempera, but also uses other mediums including digital drawing on an iPad. Robin lectures and delivers workshops at the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts. Her work has been exhibited widely, in and around London, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and in the National Portrait Gallery’s Portrait Award. **Portrait in Egg Tempera with Robin-Lee Hall** **Saturday 11 April** **10-4.30pm** **£110 All materials included** [MORE INFO & BOOKING](https://londondrawing.com/product/portrait-in-egg-tempera-masterclass-with-artist-robin-lee-hall-11-april-2026/) **VENUE:** **Artizan Street Library & Community Centre** 1 Artizan Street London E1 7AF

AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee. Shut Up & Write!® East Side Columbus
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 22 at Streetlight Guild. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. **BEING LATE IS OKAY:** just show up and get settled! If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing & I look forward to seeing you at Streetlight Guild! **WHAT SHOULD I BRING?** Whatever you need to be able to write! You're welcome to bring earplugs/headphones if noise will bother you! **OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:** * **RSVP:** Please RSVP by 6:00pm the evening of the meeting. This helps me know how many to expect, and if we'll need additional space! * **COVID:** While masks are not required, please be mindful of the other writers around you and their comfort levels. * **WIFI/OUTLETS:** Outlets are limited, so please ensure your devices are charged when you come! But Streetlight Guild does have free WiFi! Yay! * **PARKING:** There is free public parking at Streetlight Guild.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
