**The workshop consists of two sessions:** **Sunday 12th and Monday 13th of April** **10.00am- 4.00pm (on-site)** For many of us, working from life -especially with a model- is a cornerstone of our artistic practice. Building on a long tradition, we often reach a point where we crave more personal expression in our work. Whether this urge arises on day one or after years of practice, the question remains: How do we find our unique artistic voice? How can we expand into abstraction or imagination? How do we bridge the gap between working with a model in the studio and continuing our creative journey at home? Sharing from their personal practice, Suzon will guide participants in discovering and nurturing their own creative voice throughout this two-day workshop. An opportunity to expand your creative toolbox and discover new ways of working. **Day 1** We’ll explore visual brainstorming techniques and discover how to infuse our paintings with a deeply personal touch. Focusing on one key concept at a time, we’ll experiment with pushing, stretching, and playing with these ideas to develop a language that feels both personal and intentional. • How can we use values to evoke specific sensations? • Which colours best convey our emotions? • How can our marks and composition and add deeper layers of meaning to our work? By the end of the day, you’ll have learned new skills and ways to engage creatively. Most importantly, you’d have remembered that ‘Learning to paint well’ is one great thing, but ‘Learning to create the paintings that no one else’s but you could paint’ is the true magic! **Day 2, working with a model** We’ll apply our expanded creative toolbox to the unique challenge of working with a model. Moving beyond straightforward representation, we’ll create paintings that are grounded in reality yet elevated by your personal artistic choices. No two paintings will be the same: they’ll each be a mirror of your unique artistic voice. These two days are perfect for anyone eager to deepen their connection to their creative voice and develop a more personal painting practice. Whether you are an experienced painter or new to the practice, Suzon welcomes participants at all levels and with any medium: oil, acrylic, gouache, colour pencils… come with what inspires you! The workshop will take place in a supportive and inspiring environment, encouraging creative risk-taking, curiosity, and the discovery of your own visual signature. Join us for a relaxed sketching session from 2–4pm on Sundays followed by a warm drink and a chat in a nearby café. 😊 We usually meet at the V&A Museum or outside in a local park when the weather allows. Please check the location listed in the event details each week, as it may change depending on rain, sun, or gallery access. This is a calm, informal, free meetup — you're welcome to draw at your own pace, chat a little, or just get into the flow. It’s open to all levels, from total beginners to experienced artists. 🖍️ Art materials: In museums/galleries, we can only use dry, non-messy materials: pens, biros, colour pencils, markers, and fine liners (no paint, pastel, or charcoal). Express your creativity drawing a live in-person life model each week. Beginners and all levels of ability welcome. The fee is £12 per session, cash on arrival or pay via phone. All materials and equipment provided free, but feel free to bring your own. A different model will do a variety of poses each week, with one long pose. Full free instruction available, on request, for beginners. Classes run by fully qualified art teacher from CSM UAL. Small charge for paper, 25 pence per sheet. Free Tea and Coffee always available. Accessible-format life drawing and portrait session with a range of poses from 2 minute tutor-led warm up exercises to 15 mins in the first half of the class with general tips and tuition. In the second half, a long portrait pose of 35-40 mins with a demo/draw-along led by tutor Rod who will show and talk through the process of drawing a portrait in front of the class. There is the option of doing a life drawing or a portrait as the model will be fully nude throughout. One-to-feedback given where required. Material and half-time tea provided.

I am proud to announce that we having our jam at the Temple Of Art & Music in Elephant & Castle!! Chord Flow: A structured improvisation session where players explore a shared chord progression and key, creating music organically in the moment. Lineup (on stage together): • 2 guitarists • 1 bass • 1 drummer • 1–2 singers • 1 additional instrument (sax, trumpet, percussion, etc.) How It Works: 1. A simple chord progression and its key are written on a whiteboard opposite the stage. 2. The group has 5 minutes on stage to explore the progression together. 3. Tempo, time signature, style, and chord changes are left open — the music’s direction is determined by the group. 4. When the timer starts, the music begins. Musicians respond to each other in real time, building the flow organically. 5. No planning or discussion — focus on listening, reacting, and creating a shared musical experience. 6. After 5 minutes, the group rotates and a new set of musicians begin. The Temple Of Art and Music is a live music venue and bar in Elephant & Castle so I encourage anyone attending to bring friends as it will be great fun for them even if they are not playing. The venue has a PA system, drum kit, mics and guitar/bass amps. There is no guarantee that there will be cymbals or drum accessories with the drum kit at the venue. Drummers please being your own if you can. Like all our other jams it will be a chance to jam with other musicians playing the music that you love in a gentle environment with no judgement and no pressure. This jam also uniquely gives the opportunity to play in front of a crowd! The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills.
