**Autumn Term 2025** Spring Term Sunday, March 1st 10.00am- 4.00pm **Tutor: Daisy Perkins** **Dancer and model: Flora Baltz** *Cost £95* Drawing and image making often works best when the whole of our mind-body is engaged. * Discover new ways of drawing * Respond to live movement with line, rhythm, gesture, and mass. * Experiment with materials and scale, from fluid ink washes to large collaborative drawings, blending abstraction with the figure. * Develop a resolved final work and leave with a fresh, embodied approach to mark-making that you can carry into your own practice. During this workshop we will become interested in how we can connect with movement, and how we can use this to make more powerful uncontrived visual statements. * **Notice how your own body feels and responds** * **Let physical sensation, rhythm, and inner state guide mark-making** * **Feel movement in the body before translating it into drawing** This workshop brings together the disciplines of drawing and dance to explore new ways of seeing, sensing, and making. Guided by Daisy and working with a dancer, participants will step beyond conventional figure drawing into a more embodied, responsive practice. You’ll begin by treating the hand as a seismograph—a recorder of rhythm and presence rather than mere outline—using movement awareness, gestural drawing, and collective mark-making to open up expressive possibilities. You’ll develop from free-flowing experiments into a resolved final work that blends abstraction, gesture, and form. Along the way, you’ll try out a variety of dry and wet media and experiment with mass, line, erasure, expression, disruption and layering, as you learn to capture both motion and stillness. With space for reflection and discussion built in, the workshop offers not only technical exploration but also a deepening sense of the creative process. Join us for a relaxed sketching session from 2–4pm on Sundays followed by a warm drink and a chat in a nearby café. 😊 We usually meet at the V&A Museum or outside in a local park when the weather allows. Please check the location listed in the event details each week, as it may change depending on rain, sun, or gallery access. This is a calm, informal, free meetup — you're welcome to draw at your own pace, chat a little, or just get into the flow. It’s open to all levels, from total beginners to experienced artists. 🖍️ Art materials: In museums/galleries, we can only use dry, non-messy materials: pens, biros, colour pencils, markers, and fine liners (no paint, pastel, or charcoal). In parks or outdoor spaces, feel free to bring paints, pastels, or whatever you like! Bring your own sketchbook and materials, and come just as you are. We’d love to draw with you. ✨✏️☕

Express your creativity drawing a live in-person life model each week. Beginners and all levels of ability welcome. The fee is £12 per session, cash on arrival or pay via phone. All materials and equipment provided free, but feel free to bring your own. A different model will do a variety of poses each week, with one long pose. Full free instruction available, on request, for beginners. Classes run by fully qualified art teacher from CSM UAL. Small charge for paper, 25 pence per sheet. Free Tea and Coffee always available. Accessible-format life drawing and portrait session with a range of poses from 2 minute tutor-led warm up exercises to 15 mins in the first half of the class with general tips and tuition. In the second half, a long portrait pose of 35-40 mins with a demo/draw-along led by tutor Rod who will show and talk through the process of drawing a portrait in front of the class. There is the option of doing a life drawing or a portrait as the model will be fully nude throughout. One-to-feedback given where required. Material and half-time tea provided.

Newcomers always welcome. No one will see what you're writing or give you unsolicited advice. Deepen your connection with the tarot through art at this relaxed workshop Join us for a creative session, learning about tarot and deepening your understanding of the cards through collage making. Set at Damsel Collective, a beautiful, cosy, welcoming womxn -centred space, this will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with your creativity and a welcoming community. We will begin the session by each pulling a tarot card, and taking a moment to reflect and mindmap the meanings of the card. Then, we will use a wide range of collage materials to create an art piece inspired by the card we drew, as a way of exploring both widespread and personal meanings of the card. This practice will allow you to deepen your personal connection to the cards, learn more about the tarot from others and yourself, and create a personal memento of the messages you received from the reading. This event is a **poetry social**, a chance to meet poets and share your poetry and poetry thoughts informally. Please be aware this is not our regular session of around the table poetry sharing, but a **chance to chat and connect with other London poets**. That said, you are of course welcome to read and perform your poetry for those who want to hear it. Just be aware there can be some background noise in the area where we meet. There will be some tables and chairs set up for us **outside the poetry library on the fifth floor**. Coffee and tea are available in the cafe on the ground floor. Also be aware there may be some external noise from the nearby children's library and south bank centre members attending events. If you have not attended our group before, please introduce yourself to David, the organiser. This session is right next to the poetry library, so a perfect opportunity to browse and share published poetry with others as well. Make sure to be quiet when inside and using the library.

No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Private Group. Closed to the Public Knowing ourselves and understanding our abilities is the first step toward wielding our gifts with control and accuracy. In subsequent classes we will verify and hone our talents with activities and discussion. These are hands-on workshops and participation is expected. The goal of our series will be to develop expertise in areas of particular interest such as mediumship, channeling, divination, healing and, etc..
