Manitoulin Magic
**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/manitoulin-magic-3)**
***We’re heading to Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island anywhere in the world, for an incredible four day tour.***
You’ll join us on this carefully-crafted journey through Manitoulin's greatest natural treasures. The island is a special place filled with crystal clear waters, ancient limestone formations, breathtaking viewpoints and immersive night skies. You'll ***camp in a certified Dark Sky Preserve*** where stars blanket the sky above you, ***conquer the legendary Cup and Saucer Trai*l** with its 70-meter cliffs and panoramic vistas, ***stand behind the misty curtain of Bridal Veil Falls***, spend a day at the stunning **Misery Bay** and ***cruise across Georgian Bay on the iconic Chi-Cheemaun Ferry***.
It's a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, allowing you to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in Manitoulin life.
There are very few trips organized to this magnificent place and we're thrilled to be running it for Wilderness Union members.
Our journey begins in Toronto where you’ll be picked up by our driver who will be transporting you across the whole island in the coming days. Our base for the trip is a dark sky certified eco park centrally located on the island.
Day 2 brings our most active day with a morning adventure to the gorgeous Bridal Veil Falls where you can actually walk behind the cascading water. There's plenty of time built in for swimming, exploring, or simply relaxing at this unique natural destination. In the afternoon, we’ll conquer the famous Cup and Saucer Trail with its breathtaking lookouts across the island's rolling landscapes.
Day 3 will involve a full day of revelry and exploration at Misery Bay Provincial Park. This small inlet on the south-west part of the island has beautiful beaches and rocky platforms stretching into the sea
Our final day features the perfect conclusion – crossing Georgian Bay aboard the legendary Chi-Cheemaun Ferry ("Big Canoe" in Ojibwe) from South Baymouth to Tobermory. This two-hour cruise across deep blue waters offers spectacular views on the way to the beautiful town of Tobermory where we stop for lunch and a quick explore before returning to Toronto later that evening.
**What's included:**
- *Expert guides who will be with you throughout the entire journey*
- *Professional transportation taking you all across the island*
\- All camp meals\, cooking equipment and mess kits
- *A cruise on the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry*
*-All park access permits*
****
**NB: Due to the logistical complexity of coordinating transportation between parties for a multi-day itinerary with limited cell reception, self-driving will not be available for this adventure.**
**Space for this Manitoulin adventure is strictly limited, so register early to secure your spot. This trip will fill quickly and won't be repeated this summer!**
**Highlights**
**Mesmerizing Nature -** Manitoulin Island is a landscape of ancient rock and turquoise water that feels a world away. You can hike the dramatic cliffs of the Cup and Saucer Trail or walk behind the freshwater curtain of Bridal Veil Falls.
**Dark Sky Preserve Camping -** Stay at a designated Dark Sky Preserve where the stars are bright enough to cast shadows. The "no white light" rule ensures you witness the *unobstructed Milky Way*.
**Sail the Chi-Cheemaun -** Our journey includes a crossing on the incredible "Big Canoe" ferry from Tobermory. Stand on the breezy upper deck to watch the shoreline disappear as you traverse *Georgian Bay*.
**Event cost: $695+HST. Register [here.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/manitoulin-magic-3)**
**About Wilderness Union**
Wilderness Union is deliberate about building an outdoors community that connects you to the life-changing magic of the outdoors and helps you find your people.
Members range from 20-40 years old. The group is a mix of GTA locals and newcomers to Toronto from within Canada and abroad.
Attendance numbers on Meetup don't reflect our actual event attendance - we typically have 15-20 community members at each event. Large enough that there's someone new to meet but small enough that it's not overwhelming!

CANOE TRIP 2/26, CANADA DAY AT SPIDER LAKE, SUN. JUN. 28 - WED. JUL. 1st
This is an easy trip in The Massassauga Provincial Park, where we had a great time last Thanksgiving.
Our campsite and parking spaces are guaranteed, on the busiest week of the season, but we are limited to nine people, and the cost for the weekend is $17 per person plus $10 to park each car.
Our campsite, number 21, is on a high rock point, open to the breezes on three sides, to keep down the bugs. It has a table, fire pit, thunder box, and good swimming off the rock. The surrounding shoreline is dry and solid.
Spider Lake is broken into many bays. It is inland, and protected from the winds off Georgian Bay. There are no cottages or power boats. This will be a cool place to spend a hot Canada Day Weekend.
One portage: 370 m., gentle rise 10 m. in the center.
Paddle distance, total: 7 km.
Driving distance from Hwy 400 & Hwy 7: 202 km., 2 hours.
Traffic on Hwy 400 should be fast on Sun. morning.
**LCATION:**
**Massassauga Provincial Park Access Point**
**Three Legged Lake Road**
**45.26379072549102, -80.00827766607452**
There is space right at the lakeshore to unload your canoe, then move your car to the big parking lot 280 m. up the road.
**SPREAD SHEET:**
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RUbAOQrpmLz_P7J2lgvKYLPLNE6rVddygG_cjaM64eg/edit?usp=sharing
This is an operating provincial park, so we have to report the name of everyone who is going, and pay to park cars. Please fill out the spread sheet, and phone me with the make, model, and plate number of your car.
A Saturday Morning "Quicky" (Take Two))
**The Rain Check Update:** \> Let’s try this again\, shall we? Mother Nature completely flooded us out last time\, turning our brisk hike into an accidental synchronized swimming event\. Since none of us brought a snorkel\, we are rescheduling\! Same mission\, hopefully much less mud\.
On **Saturday, June 27th**, let’s get our hearts pumping and our stomachs growling. We’re hitting the [Crothers Woods](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/crothers-woods-and-brickwotks-9914464) trails for a brisk city ravine loop before heading to the **Evergreen Brick Works**.
The pace will be snappy—think "I have a lunch date later" fast. We’ll be hunting down those legendary tapioca crepes and empanadas like they’re the last pieces of gear at an MEC sale.
* **The Mission:** An 8.5 km jaunt in about 2 hours. Level 2 if you please.
* **The Schedule:** Meet at **9:30 AM**. You’ll be back on your couch by 12:45 PM.
* **The Spot:** [50-58 True Davidson Dr.](https://www.google.ca/maps/place/43%C2%B041'36.9%22N+79%C2%B022'00.2%22W/@43.693588,-79.3672642,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d43.6935869!4d-79.3667166)

🌿☀️ SUMMER WALK TO THE EVERGREEN BRICK WORKS & MARKET ☀️🌿
🌿☀️ SUMMER WALK TO THE EVERGREEN BRICK WORKS & MARKET ☀️🌿
Ravine Trails, Outdoor Market & One of Toronto’s Best Skyline Lookout Spots
Summer is the perfect time to explore some of Toronto’s hidden green spaces — and few places feel as unique as Evergreen Brick Works.
Join us for a relaxed social walk from St. Clair down through the ravine trails toward the Brick Works, where nature, history, community, and city views all come together.
Even though you’re still in Toronto, parts of this walk feel surprisingly peaceful — shaded forest paths, creeks, birds, hidden trails, and eventually the old industrial buildings of the Brick Works opening up in the middle of the valley.
And in the summer? The whole place comes alive.

🛍️ Browse local vendors and shops
😊 Sit, relax, and socialize for a bit
Afterward, we’ll continue the adventure by walking up to one of the nearby lookout spots for beautiful skyline and valley views. 📸🌆
Then we’ll slowly make our way back together.
And if at any point you feel tired or want to head home early, buses run directly from the Brick Works to nearby subway stations — easy and flexible.

🌿 More About the Brick Works
From 1889 to the 1980s, the Don Valley Brick Works was one of Canada’s most important brick manufacturing sites, helping build much of Toronto itself.
Today, the restored site has become one of the city’s most beloved urban nature spaces — combining historic industrial buildings, markets, trails, gardens, and environmental spaces all in one place.
It’s one of those Toronto spots that people always seem surprised they didn’t discover sooner.
\*\*\*
