Happy New Year, Green Software Practitioners! Green Software Brighton are back for our first event of 2026 with an excellent talk from Alexander Dawson all about the Web Sustainability Guidelines. Do you work in Web? Are you concerned about how to minimise the environmental impacts of the sites you create? Do you wish there were guidelines so you don't have to start from scratch? Then this talk is for you! Alex has been integral to creating these guidelines within the W3C, the body which has produced similar standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) which are now internationally recognised. The guidelines are broken down into different areas covering UX, web development, hosting & infrastructure and strategy & product management, so they cover many roles in the website creation lifecycle.
