reviving gardans, Growing community
**Hands in the Soil: Community Growing, Learning & Craic**
This first gathering will be a relaxed mix of **hands-on garden work, shared learning, and good conversation**. Itās about getting together in a real space, doing something practical, and seeing what ideas and connections might grow from there.
On the day, weāll:
* Get our **hands dirty** with some light garden work and soil prep
* Do some **seed sowing** and talk about what grows well locally
* **Make kombucha together** and chat about fermentation, food, and simple home practices
* Share knowledge, questions, and experiences around growing food
* Enjoy some **fellowship, chats, and a bit of craic** along the way.Alongside the practical side, weāll also have an open, informal discussion about a bigger idea:
* The possibility of **small community āpark farmsā or gardens** in underused green spaces around Dublin
* What that might look like, whatās realistic, and whether others feel drawn to exploring it further
Thereās no pressure, no expertise required, and no expectation beyond showing up with curiosity and a willingness to pitch in. Whether youāre experienced with gardening or completely new, youāre very welcome.
Bring clothes you donāt mind getting muddy, and if you have them, gloves. Everything else will be very low-key.
This is just a **first step** ā a chance to meet, work, talk, and see if thereās a shared appetite to keep growing something together.
French Speaking Practice ā Real Conversation & Confidence Building
Do you understand French but struggle to speak naturally when itās time to respond?
Join a relaxed **French conversation group** where we use a **real conversation between 2 native speakers** as a way to practise speaking French in a natural and structured way.
This is not a traditional lesson. Itās a guided conversation space where you **practise speaking** through **real-life content**.
\#\# š° This sessionās topic : an **authentic French conversation** between 2 native speakers expressing their opinion about a movie.
In this session, we will work with a short clip of Tow french **Youtubers discussing a movie**š¬.
\#\# š„ BEFORE THE SESSION
Before the meetup, you will watch a short French vidƩo clip from Youtube.
This video will give you the key vocabulary and context so you feel more comfortable speaking during the session.
You will also receive a few simple comprehension questions to help you prepare your ideas.
\#\# š¬ DURING THE MEETUP \(ONLINE\)
We will use this content as a starting point for discussion and speaking practice.
You will be guided through conversation questions to help you :
* Give your opinion about a film or video.
* Nuance your opinion (using expressions like a bit, rather, quite, not reallyā¦).
* Compare or revise a previous judgement.
* Justify your opinion by giving reasons.
* Give a rating and explain your choice.
You donāt need perfect French ā the goal is to speak and build confidence.
\#\# š£ļø ACTIVITY FORMAT
The session will include :
* group discussion based on the video
* guided speaking questions
* interactive conversation practice
* a final speaking activity / role-play based on the scenario
*
\#\# šÆ WHAT YOU WILL IMPROVE
By the end of the session, you will have practised how to:
* speak more spontaneously in French
* understand and react to real French content
* build confidence when expressing ideas
* move from āI understandā to āI can respondā
\#\# šæ ATMOSPHERE
This is a supportive, low-pressure environment. Mistakes are welcome and part of the learning process. The goal is communication, not perfection.
\#\# š„ LEVEL
Intermediate French learners (you should already understand basic French and be able to form simple sentences).
\#\# ā FREE EVENT ā FEEDBACK APPRECIATED
This is a free session, and your feedback is very important for me as I build these conversation groups.
At the end of the meetup, Iāll kindly ask participants to leave a short review about their experience ā it really helps others decide whether to join future sessions.

Bloomsday swim at Sandycove
Straw hats and Joycean attire not compulsory but certainly (heavily) encouraged. :-)
"Come forth, Lazarus. And he came fifth and lost the job"
(Ulysses, chapter 8).
Let's celebrate Bloomsday by having a swim in Joycean attire.
**Read**
The final lines of Molly's soliloquy (obviously not all 40 pages of it), will be read.
**Swim**
Let's have a dive into the snotgreen and scrotumtightening sea. The swim is at your own risk! We are no lifeguards and we only arrange the meeting point. Make sure you have enough layers to keep warm before and after the swim, bring something warm to drink too. Some wear wetsuits, others don't so, some want to swim a bit of distance, others just want dip and get out - it's your swim, do what you want and meet us after...
**Eat**
Having demonstrated our incredible bravery, we will continue our adventure at a local cafƩ (time and venue TBC later, will try and source one that hopefully provides Joycean fare). Eating and drinking are at your own risk too. Will your eyes be bigger than your stomach? Don't leave it too late to sign up for the swim so I can book enough seats in the cafƩ afterwards.
If you have questions, comments, suggestions, post them in comments for this swim. Browse discussions if you want to ask about the group or other events.
See you on Sunday June 14.

Unexpected New Beginnings: The Paths We Didnāt Plan
Some of the most important chapters of our lives begin in ways we never expected.
A move to a new country, the end of a relationship, a career change, a personal loss, a new opportunity, or simply a moment when life quietly takes us in a different direction.
For our first Pathmakers gathering, we will explore the unexpected beginnings that have shaped our journeys and the lessons, challenges and discoveries that came with them.
This is not a workshop, therapy session, coaching group or networking event.
It is a small and welcoming gathering where people can connect through meaningful conversation, active listening and shared perspectives.
You are welcome to share your story, listen to others, or simply be present. Every perspective is valuable.
Weāll gather over tea, conversation and a few shared treats in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
If youād like, feel free to bring a small snack, fruit, biscuits or something simple to share with the group.
The intention is simple:
To create a space where we can reflect on the paths we didnāt plan, learn from one anotherās experiences and discover that there are often more people walking similar roads than we realize.
This gathering is free to attend. If you enjoy the experience and would like to support future Pathmakers gatherings, voluntary contributions are welcome (but never expected) to help cover Meetup platform costs and other small expenses related to hosting the community.
Limited to 6 participants to keep the conversation intimate and meaningful.

Libera Animae - Freeing the Soul
Main Library, Meeting Room 2B
What does it mean to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world?
In this gathering, we'll continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount from a mystical perspective. Together weāll explore Matthew 5:13ā16, looking not only to the passage as moral instruction, but also to the deeper transformation of consciousness that Jesus invites. Together we'll reflect on how spiritual awakening changes the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Libera Animae is an interfaith community focused on inner growth, creativity, and authentic connection.
All backgrounds are welcome.
