Creative Writing Budapest
Creative Writing Budapest
**This week's venue: Beer People \| LĂĄzĂĄr utca 7\, Budapest 1065** We hold a bi-weekly workshop to encourage creative writing where we share pieces of creative writing and solicit feedback from the other attendees. Some members also use the forum to find others with whom to collaborate, edit work, and/or brainstorm plot, themes, settings, and so forth. And from time to time, we participate in competitions, recite and/or offer material for events organized by other groups. At the moment there is no prompt for this particular meetup. Instead, writers are invited to submit something they have (or are working on) or to craft a short story specifically for the event. Of course, there's no pressure to submit something. Many participants are interested in hearing ideas, questioning the authors, and examining style and technique. Often, we explore other published works as well. The submission guidelines are as follows: 1. limit the piece to 850 words (to give enough time for any other submissions being read at the event); 2. make the text available (though you can read it aloud) for the other attendees. Many authors bring a few printed copies, but one can also pre-post the item on [bpcw.slack.com](http://bpcw.slack.com) in the "_NextMeetup" channel (write me at eahofer (at) gmail if you aren't a member already); 3. have a question in mind for the group about the submission; and, 4. If offering something from a longer work, be prepared to give a little bit of background first.

Alkalom #4 - Az Ubuntu filozĂłfiĂĄja
Alkalom #4 - Az Ubuntu filozĂłfiĂĄja
“*A neheztelĂ©s olyan, mintha mĂ©rget innĂĄnk, Ă©s azt vĂĄrnĂĄnk, hogy az ellensĂ©geink haljanak bele.*” ― Nelson Mandela **(A program magyar nyelven zajlik.)** A törtĂ©nelem sorĂĄn az emberi tĂĄrsadalmak Ășjra Ă©s Ășjra szembesĂŒltek a megosztottsĂĄggal. Amikor az identitĂĄs polarizĂĄciĂłvĂĄ kemĂ©nyedik, az egyĂŒttĂ©lĂ©s törĂ©kennyĂ© vĂĄlik. A kĂŒlönbsĂ©gek idƑnkĂ©nt polgĂĄrhĂĄborĂșs konfliktusokba torkollnak, amelyek tovĂĄbb mĂ©lyĂtik a bizalmatlansĂĄgot Ă©s a sĂ©relmeket – gyakran nemzedĂ©keken ĂĄt. **BevezetĂ©s (15 perc)** Rövid bemutatkozĂĄssal kezdĂŒnk, ahol a rĂ©sztvevƑk röviden bemutatjĂĄk magukat. 3. AlkalmazhatĂł-e az Ubuntu arra is, aki elutasĂtja az Ubuntu elveit? 4. Mi törtĂ©nik, amikor a „mi” olyanokat is magĂĄban foglal, akik alapvetƑ Ă©rtĂ©keinket tagadjĂĄk? 5. Hogyan mƱködik az Ubuntu folyamatban lĂ©vƑ konfliktus idejĂ©n? 6. ElƑfordulhat, hogy a közössĂ©g ereje rossz irĂĄnyba fordul? Hogyan lehet ezt megelƑzni? 7. BelekĂ©pzelted-e mĂĄr magad valaki helyzetĂ©be, akit mĂ©lyen elutasĂtasz? 8. Miben hasonlĂthatĂł össze az eurĂłpai megbĂ©kĂ©lĂ©s a dĂ©l-afrikai vagy az Ă©szak-Ăr pĂ©ldĂĄval? 9. A megbĂ©kĂ©lĂ©shez mi fontosabb: erƑs vezetƑk vagy erƑs intĂ©zmĂ©nyek? 10. ÖsszeegyeztethetƑ-e mindig a megbocsĂĄtĂĄs az igazsĂĄgossĂĄggal? LĂ©tezik pont, ahol a megbocsĂĄtĂĄs igazsĂĄgtalansĂĄggĂĄ vĂĄlik? 11. MiĂ©rt kulcsfontossĂĄgĂș az igazsĂĄg a megbĂ©kĂ©lĂ©si folyamatban? 12. Fennmaradhat-e a megbĂ©kĂ©lĂ©s tartĂłs anyagi egyenlƑtlensĂ©gek mellett? 13. SegĂthet-e az Ubuntu a polarizĂĄciĂł oldĂĄsĂĄban? 14. Hogyan alkalmazhatĂł az Ubuntu a közössĂ©gi mĂ©dia vilĂĄgĂĄban? 15. Az Ubuntu tekinthetƑ-e az egyĂ©ni Ă©rettsĂ©gtƑl a tĂĄrsadalmi Ă©rettsĂ©g felĂ© vezetƑ Ăștnak? 16. Workshop Session #1 - The meaning of life 2.0
Workshop Session #1 - The meaning of life 2.0
Following the great interest and full attendance of the previous seminar, The Meaning of Life returns in a new format. This time, the experience has been redesigned as an interactive open-air workshop, inviting participants not only to listen but also to think, share, and explore together. From the earliest moments of human reflection, people have asked a question as simple as it is profound: What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? Philosophers across centuries have approached this question in different ways. Socrates believed that a meaningful life begins with examination and dialogue. Aristotle suggested that human purpose lies in eudaimonia, a life of flourishing, developed through virtue and participation in community. Existentialist thinkers such as Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir challenged the idea of a predetermined meaning altogether, arguing that meaning emerges through our choices, our relationships, and the responsibility we take for our freedom. In this open-air workshop, we will explore these perspectives together through conversation, reflection, and **small group exchanges**. Rather than offering a single answer, philosophy invites us into a shared inquiry where each person can reflect on their own understanding of purpose, happiness, responsibility, and freedom. The workshop will take place outdoors in the park, creating a relaxed space for thinking together: an open-air classroom for adults. Whether you are curious about philosophy or simply interested in reflecting on life’s deeper questions, you are warmly welcome. **Workshop cost:** Please consider a donation of 3000 HUF to support the workshop. It can be paid in cash at arrival, or you can transfer via Revolut: https://revolut.me/marcoshht/pocket/N4zJYuOSN9 If you can give less, that is absolutely fine. If you can and wish to give more, it is greatly appreciated. **Meeting point:** inc ase it is not visible through meetup, it will be in KlauzĂĄl tĂ©r, in the park. The exact location will be shared on the day of the activity. **Sign up**: Important. We need your whatssap contact to make sure everybody will assist (so meetup attendance is not enough): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSePZAX0NX6qHAyXfbqv1MQGPJ7NjraX8HtCTfvVleiVWOZBrg/viewform?usp=header We need this to confirm, since we have limited spots this time. **BIO**: Georgiana Turculet is a multidisciplinary philosopher and two-time Marie Curie fellow. She holds a PhD from Central European University and has held academic positions at several European institutions, including the Department of Philosophy at Pompeu Fabra University and the Department of Philosophy at University of Copenhagen

Men's Circle Of Excellence Gathering VIII
Men's Circle Of Excellence Gathering VIII
The Men’s Circle of Excellence Gathering, for men who seek truth, mastery, and a life beyond mediocrity. The goal is simple: to support each other in mastering mind and spirit, breaking free from comfort, and moving toward excellence in every area of life. Modern life offers endless distractions but little real connection. Too often, men walk the path of self-development alone, or struggle against the negative pull of today’s society. The Men’s Circle of Excellence was created to change that: to bring support, accountability, challenge, and community energy. We gather in person to share openly, confront fears, and inspire one another to reach higher. Here, power is rooted in virtue, strength is balanced with empathy, and ambition is guided by wisdom. How it works: ‱ Welcome & introductions: Meet new members and reconnect with familiar faces. ‱ Open sharing: Each man speaks about his current challenges, fears, or obstacles. ‱ Honest reflections: The group responds with insight and encouragement. ‱ Connection Time: After the circle, we'll have extra time to relax, talk, and build friendships. Recommendation: ‱ Before the event, take some time to think about your current situation and what to bring into the circle. Limited to max. 8 men per gathering to keep the space focused, personal, and meaningful. Confirm your attendance to reserve your spot.

The Untethered Soul: A Conversation on Awareness and Letting Go
The Untethered Soul: A Conversation on Awareness and Letting Go
\*We do have registered guests for this meeting via Facebook. Hello! This book club gathering is a guided discussion of *The Untethered Soul* by Michael A. Singer. The conversation will center on awareness, the inner voice, emotional attachment, and what it actually means to let go in everyday life. **What we will cover** * The difference between you and the voice in your head * Why resisting emotions keeps them stuck * How personal stories and identity create unnecessary suffering * Letting go as an active practice, not a mindset * Openness versus control and why control fuels anxiety * What real inner freedom looks like, independent of circumstances **Agenda** * Casual arrival and drinks * Brief framing of the book and its main themes * Open discussion guided by core questions Come even if you did not finish every chapter. The value comes from the discussion, not perfection. ### Sample Discussion Questions We will use a short set of guiding questions to keep the conversation grounded and practical. No preparation is required. —Which parts of your identity feel most tied to competence, reliability, or being the one who holds things together? How might those identities limit rest, spontaneity, or openness without you noticing? —What would “letting go” look like if it did not mean lowering standards or disengaging from life? —How often do you try to improve an experience instead of fully experiencing it? —What happens when you allow discomfort without mentally preparing for the next step? —What would shift if awareness replaced self correction in one small area of your life? —What does the book mean by “the voice in your head,” and when do you notice it running your day? —Which emotions are hardest for you to let pass without resisting or fixing them? —How do personal stories about the past quietly shape current reactions? —What does control look like in everyday life, and where does it create tension instead of safety? —What would it mean to stay open during discomfort rather than closing down? —In what areas of life does “letting go” feel most threatening or unrealistic? —How might awareness alone change a habit without force or self-criticism? ### Key Takeaways from *The Untethered Soul* * You are the observer of your thoughts, not the thoughts themselves * Emotional pain lingers because of resistance, not because of the event * Identity built on memory keeps the mind reactive and guarded * Control is a major source of anxiety and inner tension * Openness is a skill that can be practiced moment by moment * Awareness dissolves patterns more effectively than self-fixing * Inner freedom is independent of circumstances or outcomes **Book Summary:** https://www.sloww.co/untethered-soul/
In-Person Buddhist Meditation and Psychology Group
In-Person Buddhist Meditation and Psychology Group
This group is for anyone who wants to explore Buddhist meditation in a relaxed and supportive setting. Each session includes a short meditation, a simple teaching from Buddhist psychology, and an open discussion about how these ideas show up in everyday life. While our foundation is Buddhist practice, we love weaving in wisdom from other traditions whenever it helps us grow, find peace, and support each other. Members of our community come from many different backgrounds, and you do not need to consider yourself a Buddhist to attend. All are welcome. The session runs from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., with doors open from 6:30 to 9:00. Come early or stay after if you’d like to enjoy some quiet reflection or casual conversation with the community. On the first Wednesday of each month, we share a potluck meal. Bring a dish if you’d like, but the most important thing you can bring is yourself. We look forward to seeing you!

## **Moving Beyond Us Versus Them with Sister Jenna** **Join renowned speaker, Sister Jenna, at our new Brahma Kumaris location in Chantilly, VA for this powerful event!** ## ***Beyond sides. Beyond stories. Into connection.*** In a world increasingly shaped by polarization, uncertainty, and “Us versus Them” thinking, many people are feeling weary, guarded, or disconnected, sometimes without realizing how deeply it has affected them. *Moving Beyond Us Versus Them* offers a timely and healing invitation to step out of division and into understanding. In this reflective session, Sister Jenna guides us to examine how labels, opinions, and unconscious biases quietly shape our perceptions and reactions. **About The Peer Integration Circle** The peer psychedelic integration circle is in collaboration with Keith Miller, LCSW-C and [Calliope Health](https://calliope.health/). This group is for those who have already had experiences with psychedelics. Other groups would be more suitable for those that have not had psychedelic experiences. ***Please note!!! RSVP is required for this event.*** Psychedelic integration is a way of turning the insights and experiences we have when we use psychedelics into lasting behavior and lifestyle changes. It’s a process of becoming whole, moving from altered states to altered traits. A Peer Integration Circle is a group meeting where people take turns listening to and sharing their experiences, thoughts, and feelings relating to psychedelic integration. **Cost** Free **Co-Facilitators** Keith Miller, LCSW-C and Katie **This group may be right for you if you:** * Have past experience using psychedelics * Want to talk through your psychedelic experiences openly with supportive people * Seek additional strategies for continuing your integration process * Wish to support others in their personal growth within an inclusive and judgment-free space **This group may NOT be right for you if you:** * Hope that attending might replace your need for professional treatment of any mental health problems you might have * Are looking for group psychotherapy, medical care, or psychiatric treatment or advice * Had a challenging experience with psychedelics that continues to cause you distress * Want to find out where to access illegal substances or guides or practitioners working “underground” **How it Works** Here are a few things to know about how our peer psychedelic integration group works: * Tea and water will be provided * Please plan to attend the full duration of the event. Late arrivals and early departures disrupt the safety of our space. Thank you for respecting the safety of the space we are co-creating. **Finally** * *We ask you not to show up without registration.* * Attending these meetings does not create a treatment relationship. Any attendees requiring medical or psychiatric treatment will be offered referrals to professional care. * If you have concerns about accessibility, please contact the facilitator at the email below. * If you wish to speak to somebody about difficult psychedelic experiences and are unsure where to turn, immediate and free peer support is available from the psychedelic helpline [Fireside Project](https://firesideproject.org/).
Letting Love Lead: Navigating Grief with an Open Heart with Diane Haworth
Letting Love Lead: Navigating Grief with an Open Heart with Diane Haworth
Join us in a space of compassion where grief is honored rather than fixed, and love is welcomed as a steady companion. Grief touches us all, through the loss of a loved one, a life chapter, or the future we once imagined. In this gentle, heart-centered workshop, Diane L. Haworth invites participants into a compassionate space where grief is honored rather than fixed, and love is welcomed as a steady companion. Drawing from her own lived experience following the unexpected death of her husband, Diane shares how choosing love over fear supported her through profound loss. And how that enabled her to support her family through the experience. Participants will be guided through reflection, a simple experiential exercise, and quiet connection, allowing each person to meet their grief in their own way and at their own pace. This workshop emphasizes presence over teaching, offering a supportive environment where participants can breathe, reflect, and remember how love has held them, past and present. ***Diane L Haworth*** *is a Heart-Centered Success Coach, teacher, author, and founder of the Be Love Principles.
