As Francesca alludes to in one of her thought experiments: **discussing concepts and ideas with other people (rather than asking ChatGPT) is like going to the gym for your mind.** But as anyone who has been to a TEiP event will know, TEiP’s lighthearted and playful atmosphere means that it’s more like a fun zumba workout than crossfit or weightlifting. **How we'll do it** (timings approximate): * 7:00pm - Arrive at Newspeak House. Nearest station Shoreditch High Street. * Organise ourselves into small groups (3-4). * Have a look at the thought experiments (announced on the day of the event) * 7:15 - Introduction to the event * 7:20 - First rotation begins - Talk about the first thought experiment, but feel free to veer off topic and pursue new avenues of conversation. * 7:45 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the second thought experiment. * 8:15 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the third thought experiment. * 8:45pm - Wrap up - votes to discern general views of the room; info about upcoming events; feedback/requests for future meetups. * 9:00 Meetup ‘ends’. But feel free to carry on conversations. We have the room until 10 :-) **Notes on the general atmosphere:** * The vibe is to let conversation flow rather than stick strictly to one topic. * While we'd like to talk about 'meaningful things', we also see the value in lighter topics, so don't worry about not being 'deep' enough! * Feel free to suggest ideas for future THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS meetup groups, both in terms of structure and topics to discuss. **Where we'll meet:** This group will be at NEWSPEAK HOUSE. **Morality of Beauty** What if we saw beauty not as decoration, but as a way of encountering reality? Today, it’s often reduced to a commodity—raising a deeper question: what does our relationship to beauty reveal about us? We live in an image-saturated world, yet often remain untouched by the beauty around us. Perhaps we resist being changed, or haven’t learned to look beyond first impressions. Yet beauty is not entirely innocent—it can reveal truth, but also mislead. Must we, then, learn to approach it with care? This discussion explores both its power and its risk **Event details ** We have reserved the Chicester Room in ther pub for us . Please ask for Philosophy cafe at the door and they will direct you . We like to break into small groups and have a healthy discussion about life , philosophy and ideas . We break out into groups of 6 to discuss three questions over 45min to 1 hour; and then spend another 45min feeding back into the main group. The three topics are chosen on the day by vote, and largely derived from suggestions on the day. We welcome new ideas , so please come up with suggestions or topics that you want to talk about . There is no specific topic list and you do not need to read or know anything particular about philosophy . The official time is 7-9: 30 pm , but we usually go into a pub mode after 9:30 pm and continue our discusssions.

**WHO IS READY FOR GAMES**? (now with added videogames) **What is the vibe?** This is a social with games.... The games are all easy to play (nothing too serious) so come along even if you just want to socialise In general. This is open to everyone under the LGBTQIA+ Umbrella and allies. This is a fusion of Boardgames, Videogames and arcade machines. **Boardgames -** We have a selection of fun and engaging baordgames/cardgames which you are welcome to use. Please bring your own too if you wish. **Videogames -** We have a selection of consoles which we bring to the venue. These are all preloaded with all your favourite multiplayer games. All the classics are there such as Mario Kart, Tekken and Smash Bros. We tend to have different themes and activities every month so we rotate the games a lot. **How to attend** The event starts from 6:30pm where there will be a table with nametags which are self service. A host will be present but I regularly setup and run the event on my own so just approach me with any problems or if you need new and I can introduce you to people. **How the event works ** Everyone finds a spot, finds a game and just gets on with it.
