LCMP Session - 003
## **Let’s Make Something Real**
You’re invited to a **Music Production Session** of **Pure Creation.**
We’re stripping away the gatekeeping and the endless tutorials.
This isn’t a masterclass; it’s a digital jam session where the goal is to walk out with a track that has everyone’s DNA on it. Whether you’re a professional sound designer or you just bought your first MIDI controller yesterday, if you have ideas, we want them in the mix.
### **The Vibe**
* **Genre Agnostic:** From lo-fi beats and cinematic soundscapes to heavy techno or glitch—if it sounds good, it stays.
* **DAW Agnostic:** Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Bitwig? It doesn't matter. Use the tools that help you speak.
* **Creation Over Teaching:** We believe the best way to learn is by doing. You’ll pick up tricks by osmosis, but our primary mission is the "Export" button.
### **How It Works**
We’re keeping the workflow lean so we can stay in the flow state:
1. **Access:** Make sure to Register your spot on MeetUp as well as at [LCMP](lcmpbygoccai.com) to receive ***access links*** to all files as well as the ***final location*** for confirmed attendees. We’ll use a shared Dropbox folder to swap stems, loops, and one-shots in real-time.
**Note:** If you are not signed up on [LCMP](lcmpbygoccai.com) **and** MeetUp, you wont receive access.
2. **Bring Your Gear:** Laptop + DAW + Headphones + Charging Cable, Extension Cord (If you need it) Ensure you’re ready to make noise the moment you plug in.
3. **The Master Mix:** We’ll have a central project running.
4. **The Drop:** You create a part, share it, and watch the track evolve.
### **The Essentials**
* **Who:** Creatives, noisemakers, and rhythmic thinkers of all skill levels.
* **The Goal:** Ensure every person in the room makes a tangible contribution to the final piece.
* **The Energy:** High vibes, zero ego, and a shared love for digital alchemy.
**Ready to plug in?** We’re keeping these sessions intimate to ensure the best workflow. Location and final logistics will be sent once your spot is confirmed.

Improv For New Friends
Don't be disappointed if you don't see a bunch of people attending. I advertise this on multiple platforms and the class usually sells out.
Improv comedy uses several techniques to create laughter. These include, creating an atmosphere free of judgement, saying 'yes', active listening, being positive, putting your focus on others, and the importance of play and laughter.
Not coincidentally, these are the same things that happen to us naturally when we are bonding with another person.
In this class, we'll explore these techniques not with the goal of being funny, but with the goal of being people that other people want to be around.
The organizer, Ralph MacLeod, is a co-founder of two independent improv clubs in Toronto - Bad Dog Theatre and Social Capital Theatre. He's been teaching improv for over 30 years. He also teaches these same techniques to several organizations including UofT, Google, Kraft, Shopify and many, many more.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have!
FAQs and Good To Know....
After every event, a group from this class sit down and have a drink together so be prepared to stay if you want! Of course, you don't HAVE to.
You also don't have to be single or bring a friend. The vibe of this class is much more 'making new friends' than a 'singles' mixer'.
We usually run to 8:15 so pay for extra parking!
Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion 🪘✨🌍
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
Drum & Soul is a participatory community space that combines drumming, singing, reflection and conversation in one shared experience. Through rhythms from different cultures, collective music making and meaningful discussion around a focused theme, we practise qualities that strengthen both the individual and the community.
This is more than a drumming circle. It is a space where people can grow in expression, presence, listening, and contribution, while learning how these same qualities can be carried into everyday life and relationships.
-
**Why come**
Come if you want to grow your expressive capacity, feel more at ease participating with others, and be part of a growing space that celebrates the human in us. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background or musical experience.
If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural. Many people arrive unsure and leave feeling surprisingly at home.
-
**How it works**
We begin with a short breathing and centring exercise, followed by simple rhythm demonstration and call and response drumming. We then move into smaller group discussion around a shared theme. From there we shift into collective jamming and improvisation, and end with a potluck meal and informal connection.
-
**Typical meeting flow**
1. 🫱🏽🫲🏻 Arrival & social time – 15 min
2. 🙋🏻♀️ Welcome, check in and centring – 15 min
3. 🪘 Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** – 20 min
4. 💬 Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of five-or so) – 20 min
5. 🕺🏽 Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments – 30 min
6. 🦋 Potluck **dinner** & social time afterwards – 60 min
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
-
**Logistics & what to bring**
We meet in a large and beautiful space. Drums are available on a first come first served basis. We also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument.
We end the evening with a shared **potluck meal**, an extension of the circle where conversation and connection continue. Since the event is free, we warmly ask everyone to bring a small item to share if they are able. Simple finger foods and easy to serve savoury items are especially helpful, such as fruit, veggies and dip, wraps, sandwiches, hummus and pita, samosas, spring rolls, crackers and cheese, or other meal friendly bites. Sweet items are welcome too, but meal friendly contributions are especially appreciated.
-
**Cost & contributions**
This is a free event. If you are unable to bring food, you are welcome to make an optional contribution toward refreshments and materials by e-transfer to **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com**
-
**Helpful notes**
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link at the venue) for quick notices.
-
**Life Between Gatherings**
Drum & Soul does not begin and end with the monthly session. For those who want to continue beyond the gatherings and go deeper, we also have:
• **Advanced sessions** for those who want to go further in drumming technique and explore the discussion themes more deeply in a smaller group
• **Home or café meetups** for simple in-person connection, where a few participants can continue the conversation more personally and naturally
• **Ongoing contact** so the spirit of the gathering can carry into everyday life through our own reflection, friendship and mutual encouragement
Over time, these smaller spaces help strengthen connection, shared learning, and community life between sessions. Ask us about these features for more detail.
-
**Why this matters**
Our world is like a sick body, and is aching for a lasting remedy. We believe our special mission here is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. A meaningful growth unfolds through both self‑discovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

**💡 What Makes This Event Different**
* Many people have ideas.
* But building a startup alone is difficult.
* The best startups are built by strong teams.
* This event is designed to help ambitious founders, engineers and builders meet potential co-founders and collaboratorsin a structured networking environment.
Instead of random conversations, we create opportunities for participants to share ideas, discuss projects and discover people they might build something meaningful with.
**🤝 What You’ll Experience**
* ***Interactive Co-Founder Networking***
Before the session begins, participants vote on the topic or challenge they want to explore together.
The most popular topic becomes the focus of the networking session.
Participants are then divided into small groups to work around that shared challenge.
This format helps people quickly connect, understand each other’s thinking, and discover potential collaboration opportunities.
It’s networking with a purpose — not just introductions.
* ***Startup Pitches***
Selected founders present their startups to the audience and investors.
Each pitcher shares their idea, product, or progress and receives visibility, feedback, and potential connections with investors and collaborators.
This is an opportunity to showcase what you’re building and spark meaningful conversations after the session.
* ***Chill Networking***
After the structured part, participants can continue conversations in a relaxed environment.
**👥 Who Should Attend**
• Entrepreneurs with startup ideas
• Engineers and technical builders
• Product managers and designers
