Let's have a casual weekday evening playing board games and practicing English. We'll play in the food court of North York Centre. This is a public space so there is no cost, but please be kind to other people in the area. Need at least 12 players signed up for this event to be played. This will be a 5 vs 5 format. The event has no set end time and will usually go beyond the posted times. You are expected to stay for at least the posted event time. $6 Payment by cash only Low Intermediate level is for players looking to continue to improve their game and play a more structured game. You have experience playing volleyball recently and have some ball control and want to and can play 3 hit volleyball. Intermediate does NOT play beach rules volleyball. Late bail outs or no shows will be assessed a "strike" 2 strikes and you will be suspended from participating in group events. If the event is full, put yourself on the waiting list. Spots can free up the week of the event as people change their minds.

There are 3 or 4 chess boards available for general use at the restaurant, but bring your own if you have one. Please try to purchase something to eat or drink at Mackenzie's (it can be small), like a soft drink, beer, or side of fries. We have to support our venue! Thanks! Isaac

We play on alternating Wednesdays from 6:30-9:00 at Continues Arcade (and bar and restaurant) in Alexandria. Bring your board or play one of ours. Beginners and the chess-curious welcome.

Starting in June 2026 Sunday 7PM Chess, will be alternating every other week with Saturday Night 8PM Chess! Casual Chess: informal skittles games or optionally with Clocks (Blitz, Rapid, Quick, or custom time controls). Meetups of Ashburn Chess Club are held on 2nd floor of the Wegmans supermarket, 45131 Columbia Pl, Sterling, VA 20166, located in the Dulles Centre Shoppes Plaza which is just off the Waxpool Road Exit on Route 28 expressway. To find the chess games, take the elevator or stairs up to the 2nd floor mezzanine level. If there are RSVP the host will usually arrive a few minutes early to set up tables in the center mezzanine section located near the Kids Room with the TV. Guests, walk-ins, kibitzers are all welcome too; we request minor children to be accompanied by an adult, and we request only chess players RSVP, members and guests who are attending to play chess, so we have an accurate count of chessboards needed to set up.
