Meditation and Discussion Group: The Laws of the Universe
Meditation and Discussion Group: The Laws of the Universe
Join Stephen Fiyalko, President of the Melbourne Theosophical Society for meditation, self attunement, study and discussion on the Laws of the Universe. We welcome all to join at 5:30pm for a 30 min Meditation and will begin the discussion group at 6:00pm. For those who prefer to just attend the discussion group you're welcome to arrive at 6pm. An understanding of and action within the Laws through our choices give practical tools for facing, managing and surmounting with confidence the many challenges we face in our daily lives, in society and the world itself. Ignorance of the Laws can leave us adrift to be buffeted and feel overwhelmed by stormy seas. Each week will look at one of the twelve Laws which are principles, not rules, seeking a deeper understanding of that Law, our and their inter-relationship with the other Laws. Discussion will involve sharing stories from our lives which contribute to a growing understanding and confidence in our lives. Each session is free, but contributions are welcome.

The EQ Cafe - Feel, Heal & Grow Together ❤
**To Listen, To Be Heard. A Circle for Gentle Connection** 💬 *“In a world that speaks so much, the rarest gift is to be truly listened to.”* **About This Space** Let’s meet in a quiet pause, away from the noise, to remember a simple but profound art: the art of listening with our whole hearts and heal together. This is a guided, gentle experience where we practice seeing and valuing each other through one-on-one conversations. You’ll alternate between sharing and listening: As the **Expresser**, you’re invited to explore prompts that gently nurture self-awareness and kindness toward your own experience. As the **Listener**, your only role is to be present, with empathy and curiosity, without the need to fix or advise. We’ll weave in moments of quiet journaling and reflection, and close by sharing insights in a group circle, learning from each other’s inner worlds. **Why Join This Circle?** ✨ To feel the relief of being fully heard, without judgment or interruption. ✨ To heal from the courageous softness of deep, active listening. ✨ To connect with others who believe conversations can be both safe and significant. ✨ To allow your clarity and connection to bloom in quiet, attentive spaces. ✨ To grow emotional intelligence with gentle attention to oneself and to another. **A Note From Your Host** BEWARE: NO MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING SCHEME IS ALLOWED IN THIS GROUP, THAT INVOLVES PROMOTING MENTORSHIP, SELF-HELP DEVELOPMENT, CREATING BUSINESS OR FINANCIAL FREEDOM. I created this space from the belief that one of the deepest forms of human healing is to sit across from someone and feel that they are with you. This is for anyone who yearns for more authentic connection, who values depth over small talk, and who believes that in listening we make the world a little softer. Your presence, your attention, and your gentle heart are welcome here. 🤍

8am Hatha Yoga - Effort & Ease. Free session in Edinborough Gardens, Fitzroy Nor
8am Hatha Yoga - Effort & Ease. Free session in Edinborough Gardens, Fitzroy Nor
**Hatha Yoga – Effort & Ease** ### **When & Where?** 🗓 **Saturday at 8:00am** ⏰ **45-minute session** 📍 **Edinburgh Gardens, Fitzroy North - behind the Rotunda on the grass** (A pinned map location and image gallery will help you find us.) 🌧️ **Weather:** Because this class is outdoors, the event may be cancelled if rain is likely. Please check the event page before attending, Melbourne weather can be a little chaotic! *** **About the Session:Hatha Yoga - Effort & Ease** This is a gentle, beginner-friendly Hatha yoga class designed to help you move slowly, breathe with intention, and feel grounded in your body. **What is Hatha yoga -Effort & Ease** Hatha yoga is traditionally described as the union of two energies - the activating quality of heat and the calming quality of coolness. In this practice, we explore the space between effort and ease. We don’t push, and we don’t collapse. We move slowly enough to feel where the body naturally lands, and we use the breath to guide us into balance. Today is about learning how to meet each shape with steadiness and softness at the same time. The sequence will be slow, grounding, and supportive - ideal for beginners or anyone wanting a calm, clear start to the day. We’ll warm up gently, move through simple stabilising shapes, then finish with a short rest to integrate. No experience is needed. You’re welcome exactly as you are. ***What to Bring*** • A yoga mat • A blanket or warm layer • Comfortable clothes • Optional cushion for extra comfort (If you forget a mat, still come - I’ll have a couple of extras 😊) *** **Attending** Please Rsvp if you know you are coming. If you haven’t RSVP’d and want to join last minute, please feel welcome. The group is relaxed and friendly. **Starting Setup** We begin at 800am. Arriving a few minutes early helps you land, get settled, and start the morning slowly. *** **Running Late?** No stress at all. Just join quietly whenever you arrive - you won’t interrupt the class 😊. *** **I am also running a meditation session at 9am after Hatha yoga finishes.** If you would like to come to both please click attending in the meditation session too 🙏😊 **Looking forward to practicing with you 🌿✨** **Kathy** #

Often called yogic sleep, it invites you into that soft, spacious place between waking and dreaming. There is nothing you need to do, just follow my voice as I guide your awareness gently through the body and breath. **From there, I’ll lead you into a visual meditation inspired by the moss-covered forest floor.** Through imagery of soft earth, shifting canopy light, and a quiet ancient presence, this meditation helps you feel grounded, held, and restored. The journey is designed to ease tension downward, settle the mind, and reconnect you with a deep sense of inner steadiness. **No prior experience is needed, just come as you are. Everyone is welcome!** The meditation session is continuously guided by my voice and if you have not tried meditation before - this is a great way to start. **What to bring?** * A yoga mat to lie on and a blanket. 8am Hatha Yoga - Breath & Grounding. Free session in Edinborough Gardens, Fitzro
**Hatha Yoga - Breath & Grounding** **When & Where?** 🗓 **Saturday at 9:00am** ⏰ **45-minute session** 📍 **Edinburgh Gardens, Fitzroy North - behind the Rotunda on the grass** (Map pins + image gallery available on the event.) 🌧️ **Weather:** Outdoor sessions may be cancelled if rain is likely. Please check the event page beforehand. **About the Session: Hatha Yoga - Breath & Grounding** This second session focuses on slow, grounding movements and breath-led stability. It is completely beginner-friendly, with simple shapes and a calm pace that helps you connect inward. **Breath & Grounding** **One of the foundations of Hatha yoga is the understanding that breath shapes the state of the mind.** When the breath is slow, the mind becomes quiet; when the breath is steady, the body feels supported. **In this session, we focus on grounding - using breath and simple shapes to feel held by the earth beneath us.** This practice teaches us that steadiness isn’t something we force. It’s something we allow. We’ll move through slow, supportive postures that help the mind settle and the body drop into a steadier rhythm. This class is perfect for beginners or anyone wanting a soft reset for the nervous system. We finish with a brief rest to integrate the breath and grounding theme. **What to Bring** • Yoga mat • Warm layers • Comfortable clothing • Optional small cushion (I will have a few extra Mats. please try to bring your own, but Mats available if needed 😊) *** **Attending** if you havent RSVP’d and want to come last minute, you're more then Welcome. more the merrier 😆✨️. **Starting Setup** We begin at **8:00am**. Philosophy Roundtable: What is Intelligence?
Philosophy Roundtable: What is Intelligence?
Please join us this Sunday as we explore the question of Intelligence. This session will be moderated by Glenn. We will meet at the **CAPTAIN MELVILLE**, 34 Franklin St in Melbourne CBD, at 2.00pm for 2.15pm start sharp. There is no pre-requisite preparation necessary, nor a philosophical background; all that is required is a curious mind. These discussions are both a Socrates Cafe style discussion and lively metaphysical dojo, in the spirit of learning and friendly debate, so please feel free to challenge assumptions and be prepared have your own assumptions challenged! Find below some questions to consider, however these are free-ranging events and the below serve merely as a springboard towards a deeper discussion in waters unknown... Some points and questions to consider before the event: * What is intelligence? * What are the differences between human, animal and artificial intelligence? Which differences matter? * Is intelligence best thought of as a capacity, a process or or an outcome? * Are IQ tests useful? If so, useful for what? * Is intelligence distinguished from wisdom, creativity or rationality? Why? * Intelligence is biologically costly. Why do you think we evolved it at all? What problems does it solve? * Are humans intelligent because of individual brains or cumulative culture? * In what sense is AI intelligent or not? If it can do intelligent things, should we say its intelligent? * Is it just that intelligent people are rewarded in the market and society? Are there stupid people? How should they be treated? Hope to see you there!
