The smaller the model, the more impressive. While the big labs' closed models still win as generalists, we've been working on fine-tuning our own specialist for enterprise document processing on top of an open-weights base, adapted for use in our custom agent harness and for visual layout reasoning. Recent iterations come within spitting distance of much larger models at a fraction of the size and token usage. In this talk, we share why and how we did it, as well as what it means for how we build efficient agentic systems at Klassif.ai even with hosted models. **Why NLP is More Alive Than Ever in the Age of LLMs.** *Tomas Staelens & Jean-Charles Nadé (Campfire AI)* The hype surrounding Generative AI has led many to believe that traditional NLP is a thing of the past, but the reality on the ground is different. Past questions have been wide and not confined to academic philosophy: What is a genuine friend? Is social media turning us into emotional zombies? I have quickly written a set of rules on how we play. It is assumed that the reader has a basic concept of the game. *** Setup: * Each player starts with 6 or 7 cards each (depending on total number of players) * A card is shown in play in the middle of everyone, this is known as the top card. Goal: * The goal of the game for each player is to get rid of all cards in your hand Rules: * Whenever you go from two cards to one card, you have to say "UNO". * Each player takes his turn one by one, initially going in the clock-wise direction * A card may be played if it matches the same colour or same number or same type as the top card in play * The two black cards (Draw 4 and Wild) can be played regardless of the top card in play. * Interruption rule: You may interrupt the general flow of the game (clockwise or counter-clockwise) if you have the EXACT same card as the top card in play. If you manage to play the card prior to the person whose turn it's supposed to be, then the game continues on from you in the same direction it was previously. (Unless the reverse card was interrupted, then the direction changes). * Draw2 or Draw4 cards can be played in accordance to the interruption rule. The following person after the interrupt has to take the accumulated number of cards. If however, cards have already been drawn AND seen by the person who was supposed to take the cards, then only the remainder of cards has to be drawn. * Once someone has no cards remaining in his hand, play stops and we start counting points. Points: * Number cards have the face value as the number of points. i.e. number 6 is worth 6 points, number 0 is worth 0 points, number 4 is worth 4 points. * Skip, reverse and Draw2 are worth 20 points each * Wild and draw4 are worth 50 points each

You will receive a tour around the permanent collections of the museum where we will take a journey through different prehistoric times. This tour will focus on the impressive dinosaurs 🦕 and other amazing fossil highlights that are on display in the museum. Depending on the mood and vibe, we can also include a special tour around the other exhibits, focusing on queer animals in the natural world 🌈. Monroe**. *Talk Title*: pg_lake: Unifying transactional and analytical data with Postgres *Speaker*: Elizabeth Christensen, Snowflake *Talk Description* The data world used to be defined by “transactional" (OLTP) and “analytical” (OLAP) workloads, but we’ve asked ourselves, “Why not both?” A new series of extensions called pg_lake has just been released to connect Postgres to object storage and open table formats - like csv, Parquet, and Iceberg. pg_lake bridges the two worlds of transactional and analytical data for a vendor neutral, open source, unified data stack. This talk will explore the pg_lake extension, including how to build it, and demos of using it with modern data workloads in object storage like Amazon S3. We’ll create simple data pipelines with no ETL and high performance analytics. pg_lake is more than just an extension. Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs. This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context. We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy.
