Dear beautiful people :) This meetup was created with the intention of connecting people, and it remains a safe and welcoming space where every opinion matters and inclusivity is the pillar of the event ๐Ÿค—. Whatever your reason for coming โ€” curiosity, practicing a language, meeting new people, hanging out, disconnecting from work, or simply nostalgia โ€” you will be warmly welcomed in a respectful and open environment. Every person here is a doorway to a new culture, a new story, and at least one new word. โญ **Golden Rules** Respect everyone โ€“ Every opinion and culture matters ๐ŸŒŽ Be inclusive โ€“ Make space for everyone at the table ๐Ÿค Listen as much as you speak โ€“ Real connections come from sharing ๐Ÿ‘‚ No discrimination or harassment โ€“ This is a safe space ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Stay curious and open-minded โ€“ You never know who youโ€™ll meet โœจ Entry: **No fee, just grab a drink ๐Ÿน** **โ€œInternational accents, real connectionsโ€ ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ** Hope to meet you soon :)
[Free Open Air] Taipei Film Festival: "The Assassin" @ Parc de Bruxelles
[Free Open Air] Taipei Film Festival: "The Assassin" @ Parc de Bruxelles
**Welcome film lovers and culture enthusiasts!** Join us for a magical summer night under the stars at Parc de Bruxelles for a free outdoor screening of the visually stunning masterpiece, *The Assassin* (่ถ้šฑๅจ˜). This event is part of the Lโ€™Heure dโ€™ร‰tรฉ festival, celebrating Taiwanese cinema! ### ๐Ÿ“… **Event Details** * **Date:** Thursday, 2 July * **Time:** 22:00 (We recommend arriving a bit earlier to grab a good spot!) * **Location:** VAUX HALL - Parc de Bruxelles * **Price:** Free (No reservation required) * **Language:** Mandarin (ZH) with French and Dutch subtitles ### ๐ŸŽž๏ธ **About the Film: The Assassin (2015)** *Directed by Hou Hsiao-Hsien (Best Director, Cannes Film Festival 2015)* *Starring Shu Qi, Chen Chang, Yun Zhou* In 9th-century China, Nie Yinniang, a formidable assassin trained since childhood, is tasked with killing a powerful military governor... who happens to be none other than her former fiancรฉ. Torn between duty and her feelings, she must choose her destiny. It is a breathtakingly beautiful film that redefines the martial arts genre with poetic elegance. ### ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ **About the Festival: Lโ€™Heure dโ€™ร‰tรฉ โ€“ TAIPEI** For its 15th anniversary, Cinรฉma Galeries invites you to travel to Taipeiโ€”a city of millions of neon lights, drifting seamlessly between tradition and modernity. Taipei embodies a complex, hybrid identity shaped by Han, Japanese, Indigenous, and Chinese cultures. This year's festival brings the legendary figures of the Taiwanese New Wave (such as Hou Hsiao-hsien, Edward Yang, and Ang Lee) into dialogue with a new generation of filmmakers. Together, their films explore the deep connections between tradition and modernity, memory and identity, turning everyday Taiwanese life into cinematic poetry. ### ๐Ÿ’ก **What to bring / Good to know:** * Since this is a *Plein Air* (outdoor) event at night, we highly recommend bringing a light jacket, a cozy blanket, or a sweater as it can get chilly in Brussels after sunset. **Letโ€™s meet up, enjoy some world-class cinema, and experience the cultural heartbeat of Taipei together. See you there!**

During the session, youโ€™ll be introduced to Qigong โ€” a simple and effective practice rooted in traditional Chinese movement. It combines slow movements, breathing, and attention to help release tension, improve mobility, and calm the nervous system. The exercises are easy to follow, even if itโ€™s your first time. The focus is not on performance, but on sensation: moving with awareness, breathing more freely, and allowing the body to reset. Depending on the session, we may explore sequences like **Ba Duan Jin (Eight Brocades)**, each with its own focus on circulation, joints, and overall energy. We close with a quiet return walk, giving the body time to integrate โ€” often leaving with a clearer mind and a lighter, more grounded feeling.
Deep Conversation - Question Chosen in Session
Deep Conversation - Question Chosen in Session
How do we connect to people? What is so great about being different? Is love selfless? Should we be dreamers or realists? What values are we losing? When are we at our best? Does childhood ever end? Is morality a matter of convenience? What makes a person beautiful? Such questions, and many more, await you Sunday at Sister's Cafe (second floor) . After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations :-).

It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.* *In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.* **THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**

There are even more improvements tucked into the release that never made a marketing blog or press release that you'll likely be learning about for the first time in this session! Join this session to learn about what makes your high availability a little more available, your performance a bit more performant, and your database more developer and app-friendly. Prairie PostgreSQL User Group: Proudly Sources at Midwest!
Dear Illinois Prairie PUG members, Thank you to everyone who attended PG DATA 2026! The conference is over, but our meetups are back, and more Postgres content is coming! Those of you who attended our May meetup are already familiar with our new (hopefully permanent) location. For others, please note that we will meet at **Chicago Innovations, 1 W. Monroe**. This time, we are trying a two-talk format. \- Zach Paden will present the talk **Declarative schema management with pgschema.** \- Anna Bailliekove will present the talk **PostGIS Quick Start** More details on talks and speakers coming soon! *Agenda* 5:20 - doors open 5:30 - pizza arrives 6:00 - 6:10 - Hettie D. Opening remarks 6:10- 6:40 - Zach. Declarative schema management with pgschema. 6:45 - 7:10 Anna: PostGIS Quick Start 7:10 - 7:50 - Open discussion and networking 7:50 - 8:00 - Cleanup time and closing **Speaker**: Zach Paden Zach Paden is a tech lead at Symetra with experience ranging from scrappy startups, consulting, to large regulated enterprises. His work spans data platform, analytics and application development where heโ€™s seen more than his fair share of projects get bogged down or catch on fire due to their schema management practices. **Talk Title:** *Declarative schema management with pgschema* **Talk description** Lots of app devs struggle to understand the concept of versioning database migrations, and managing the history of these migrations can become difficult even with existing tools. Using pgschema you can write pure-sql decoratively and let pgschema derive a series of valid online migrations. **Speaker:** Anna Bailliekova Anna Bailliekova has been moving data around professionally for 15 years. Currently a staff engineer XeoMatrix, she focuses on helping organizations mature their data engineering practice, optimization problems, and geospatial data applications. **Talk title:** PostGIS Quick Start **Talk description** PostgreSQL provides rich support for geospatial computing; using transportation examples, we will take a brief tour of these features for those who want to but have been scared to try. *Notes about our new venue*. I am delighted to have an independent venue for the first time since I am hosting the meetups. I hope that this will be our permanent home. And as you all know, with more freedom comes more responsibilities. \- You will notice the change in the RSVP form\. \- We are thankful to our hosts and promise to be responsible\. \- We comply with the [PostgreSQL Code of Conduct](https://www.postgresql.org/about/policies/coc/). \- We do not want to waste food\, so please indicate your dietary preferences\. \- We will not close RSVPs on the morning of the meetup\, but please do your best to RSVP in advance so we can order the appropriate amount of food and drinks\. \- We want to start offering **on-site daycare**. If you indicate on your RSVP that you are planning to use daycare, we will contact you closer to the event with more information. This meetup will be hybrid - please don't forget to indicate whether you are attending in-person or virtually. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you all at our new location! Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it โ€œseems good,โ€ and move on. That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable. In this talk, weโ€™ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. Weโ€™ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork. This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it. Weโ€™ll cover: * Why โ€œit looks goodโ€ is not enough * How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints * How to compare LLM outputs more systematically * Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness * How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results * Where automated evaluation works โ€” and where humans still need to stay in the loop By the end, youโ€™ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
