Wakefulness Through Writing & Walking
This is a group for adults who want to ground in nature and connect to their creative selves in a warm and supportive environment. We'll meet weekly for 13 weeks (beginning June 26th) at a goat farm in Silver Spring, MD. We'll begin with a goat walk. That's right, we'll walk through the woods with goats and then focus on the chapters of Julia Cameron's book, *Walking in This World.*
Maybe you want to dive deeper after having completed a facilitated group based on Cameron's first book, *The Artist's Way* or you want to jump right into exploring your inner landscape through writing and grounding in nature. You don't have to be a self-proclaimed or professional writer or artist to join. Just bring your curiosity, a copy of the book, something to write with and a commitment to attend all sessions if possible.
Since the in-person portion of the group will be held at a private residence, I'll email registrants the address once they've signed up. Please dress in comfy clothes that might possibly be nibbled on by adorable goats, as the residence is also a goat farm. Wear closed toed shoes and feel free to bring water, a snack for yourself, bug spray and sunblock. In-person attendees will meet at 7 am.
In the event of more than light rain, we'll skip goat walks and meet in the indoor office. There is an indoor bathroom on-site.
For those joining on-line, plan to join at 7:30 am. You'll also need something to write with and a copy of the book.
Friday Night Skate
Bring your lights for the “Friday Night” Skate!
**Join us for the Friday Night Skate!** See the monuments of DC all lit up at night!
We will meet at the National World War I Memorial “Pershing Park” at 7pm. We’ll warm up with a nice easy skate to the Capital and skate along the mall and museums to the National Monument. We will then head to the Lincoln Memorial through the World War II Memorial.
Those interested in just a 5.5 mile skate can backtrack to Pershing Park.
The group will then proceed from the Lincoln to Haynes Point via Ohio Drive with the option to take the 3 mile loop (12 mile total skate) or sit by the water and enjoy the crisp air (8.5 mile total skate.)
There are three options to loop back to the Pershing Park WWI Memorial and our path back will depend on the preferences / skill of the group.
The skate is mostly flat on good pavement with a small slope coming down from the Washington Monument and a 40 yard small slop from the Lincoln to Ohio Drive. If skaters are more advanced we will cross the 14th St bridge, enjoy a few up and down hills and finish with a downhill through the 12th St. tunnel.
Please feel free to jazz it up with lights, I wear a helmet bike light, a fun set of lights and lighted wheels! Wear your lights so you have fun, can see and be seen!
In case of bad weather, I will cancel the skate by 6pm on this post.
**Of course, all skating is at your own risk.**

🎭 Improv for All! Workshop at MLK Library
We’re kicking off our very first *Doing Nothing Together DC* meetup with something fun, low-pressure, and beginner friendly: a free improv workshop at MLK Library on Saturday, June 27 at 1pm.
Important: RSVPing on Meetup lets us know you’re interested, but you’ll also need to register through Eventbrite to reserve your spot for the workshop.
No acting or improv experience needed at all. This is meant to be a relaxed way to get out of the house, try something different, and meet new people in a casual environment. Expect light games, laughter, and a welcoming atmosphere.
The workshop normally lasts about 1.5 hours and is at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G St. NW. Washington, DC 20011. Someone at the information desk will tell you which room is hosting the improv class.
If you’d like to meet beforehand so you’re not walking in alone, I’ll be by the information desk right after you enter the library from 12:45 PM – 12:55 PM and we can head upstairs together.
Heads up: wear comfortable shoes because you will be standing most of the time.
If you are driving, come about 10 minutes early to find street parking.
Space is limited. If interested, please sign up through Eventbrite: [Eventbrite Registration](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/improv-for-all-workshop-at-martin-luther-king-jr-library-registration-1989259687274?aff=erellivmlt)
Park Club - Ranger Road Park
Join our group of environmentally conscious folks the last Sunday in June at hidden gem of Fairfax: Ranger Road Park! (Recently officially renamed to Cardinal Park)
We'll meet up on Cardinal Road and then take a walk about and see what makes the park special. Feel free to bring your dog as long as they are leashed.
Social Sips & Bites: Disco Night 2.0 – Bigger. Louder. Better.
We’re not just bringing it back… we’re turning it ALL THE WAY UP.
Disco Night 1.0 was a movie.
Packed dance floor. Nonstop energy. People didn’t want to leave.
Now we run it back - bigger, louder, and even more electric.
Fernando is taking over the music again, dropping hit after hit from his signature playlist. No breaks. No slow moments. Just pure dance-floor energy from start to finish.
Lights. Music. Movement.
That moment when your “one song” turns into five more.
If you were there last time - you already know what’s coming.
If you missed it - don’t make the same mistake twice.
This is not a stand-around event.
This is a show up, move, and lose track of time kind of night.
Social Sips & Bites… we’re taking over the dance floor again.
Slow Easy Hike: 2-3 miles Lake Artemesia
Guys, we need to do this slow. Mishki gets overheated, so we take breaks from time to time, plus there may be other folks who walk slow. To make everyone feel included in the group experience, we walk slow, we wait and are kind.
**Meeting Spot**: We gather at the main parking lot close to the park entrance, under the trees.
**Lake Artemesia Walk – College Park**
Join us for a relaxed, easy-paced walk around beautiful Lake Artemesia. A chance to unwind, enjoy nature, and connect with others in a calm, welcoming setting.
We’ll walk the scenic loop, take in the lake views, and enjoy light conversation along the way. All fitness levels are welcome.
**Main parking lot: 55th Ave & Berwyn Rd,** College Park, MD 20740
Bring plenty of water, whatever you need for your hike, and your awesome authentic self. Keep it easygoing.
