Ideal for **all skill levels**, this camp offers an opportunity to receive skill instruction from George Washington's coaching staff. Defense & Setting Skills Camp is designed to develop well-rounded back-row defenders and setters by blending high-level defensive training with position-specific setting work. This session allows defenders to sharpen their floor skills while providing setters with focused, individualized technical training. **What to Expect:** Players will work on defensive techniques including platform control, reading hitters, movement patterns, & ball tracking in fast-paced, game-like drills. Back-row defenders will also learn how to set out-of-system to expand their skill set & decision-making. Setters will receive high-level 1v1 technical training while also spending time working on their own defense & blocking, helping them become more complete, well-rounded players on the court. Attendance: Weโ€™ve noticed that the waitlist is growing, so please make sure your name is on the Going list if you plan to play. Our number of nets is limited so this helps avoid too many rotations. If your name is on the list but you donโ€™t show up, it will count as an absence according to Smiley Social rules. Please update your RSVP at least 12 hours in advance if your plans change. 2. Injuries: Play safely and be mindful of others on the court. Respect positions and avoid risky moves that could lead to injury. If youโ€™re not sure the ball is yours, call it before going for it to avoid collisions. 3. Game Rules: Letโ€™s follow the basic volleyball rules, especially the three-touch rule so we can play properly and improve as a team! 4. Waitlist: The waitlist is not first come first serve. Charity Treasure Dive with Aquatic Adventures
**What:** Aquatic Adventures is doing their annual charity treasure dive which is always a fun filled day of meeting dive buddies new and old, a BBQ lunch, and of course diving for a token that could snag you anything from a hat to a week long live-a-board trip in the Bahamas. So how does this work? Aquatic Adventures sends staff down to tie tokens to various objects under the water at the lake. It could be a tree, a boat, bus, helicopter or other object. Tokens are distributed at various depths so all can participate, no matter if you are advance or a newbie. All divers should take only one token, Unfound tokens are auctioned off. Then prizes are drawn for each number, and there is a prize for each number (everyone is a winner), While some are small, fun prizes like a hat. Others can be equipment (I have seen regulators before). It appears that this year's big prize is a Live-a-Board trip in the Bahamas. I have done this several times with Aquatic Adventures and it has always been a great day of diving and camaraderie. This year I will be leading the club trip to the Caymans starting on this day, so I'll miss it, but Aquatic Adventures will take great care of you. **Where:** Lake Phoenix, 1 Quarry Ln, Rawlings, VA 23876 You need to follow the link to register with and pay Aquatic Adventures. If you have trouble with the link, go directly to their web site. When you get to Lake Phoenix, you will check in with Lake Phoenix and tell them you are with the Aquatic Adventures group. They will direct you to the Aquatic Adventures pavilions. **When:** Dives will start at 11am. Athletes will train in more dynamic, multi-contact scenarios such as pass-to-attack, transition, and off-blocker situations. This session is designed to simulate live gameplay, helping hitters make better decisions, adapt to different sets, and apply their mechanics in realistic volleyball contexts. If you've never played volleyball but want to learn, start playing, and add a fun new hobby to your list, this event is the perfect place to begin! **What to expect:** We will warm up and then host will demonstrate the skill of the day and run drills to practice the skill. Distance is **18โ€“25 miles**, depending on where we turn around and whether we add a side loop. Pace is around **12 mph**, but this is a fun, noโ€‘drop ride โ€” we can slow down as needed.
