The Let Go: Friday Night
The Let Go: Friday Night
Let go of the week and welcome the weekend. Join master teacher Ann Kite **in person every Friday** at 8pm for a dynamic, deeply embodied release. Each week, 60–75 people gather to dance together in a supportive, spirited community. Ann has held this group for years, creating a **safe space to sweat, shift, and soften** the ego’s grip so the freer, wilder, more alive part of you can come through. Movement is for everyone, whether you’ve danced for years or are brand new. This **isn’t about performing or getting the “right” steps.** It’s about tuning into your body’s natural rhythms, finding freedom in stillness and motion, and remembering what it feels like to be fully alive. Whether you’re seeking connection, healing, or simply a fresh perspective, you’re **welcome exactly as you are**. Movement is the doorway. We’ll guide you the rest of the way. **Purchase tickets:** [https://www.annkite.com/letgo](https://www.annkite.com/letgo) \*\*\*\*\*Feb 27, Apr 1, Jun 26, Aug 28, and Oct 9, will be led by a substitute teacher as Ann will be away leading a retreat on those dates.
Late Morning Hikers-Washington Outdoor Adventures Take Hogback Mountain!
Late Morning Hikers-Washington Outdoor Adventures Take Hogback Mountain!
What’s better than summiting a mountain with your favorite hiking group? Doing it with two hiking groups! Late Morning Hikers and Washington Outdoor Adventures are combining forces on a hike up Shenandoah’s scenic Hogback Mountain. This hike features sweeping views of the Shenandoah Valley and moderately strenuous elevation. We’ll approach the summit from two directions and meet at the top for a shared lunch break and to enjoy the view. From there, folks can make it an out-and-back to return to their cars, or continue straight and carpool back with a new group. **Here’s how it will work:** Both groups will meet at the Vienna metro station (north parking lot), which has free parking, and divide up to carpool to two starting points (Neighbor Mountain Access Trail or Appalachian National Scenic Trail Parking – see locations below). We’ll have roughly equal numbers of hikers go to each starting point, and we won’t be strictly divided between LMH/WOA. After we meet for lunch, hikers can head back the way they came or continue along the trail. Hike leaders will return to their cars to shuttle folks as needed. After, we will meet up at 4Js Farm & Brewery near Warrenton for food and beverages. **🕒 Estimated hike time: \~6–7 hours at a moderate group pace** **📍Day of the Event:** * Meet at the Vienna Metro Parking Area (north lot) * 🕙 Arrival: 8:00 AM 🚗 Departure: 8:15 AM * We’ll organize carpools on-site or in advance via Meetup comments. * 🚙 Estimated drive time: 1 hr 30 mins. **✅What to Bring:** * 💧2–3 liters of water * ⚡Electrolytes (Gatorade, Powerade, etc.) * 🍫Snacks * 📸Camera * 🥾Comfortable hiking shoes * 🧥Weather-appropriate layers **🚗 Carpool & Parking Info:** * 💰Suggested carpool fee: $15.00/person * 💵Park Entrance fee: $30/vehicle (Free with Shenandoah or America The Beautiful Park Passes) * 👥Group size limit: 15 members. * **Note: Please sign up only once if you are a member of both Meetup groups!** 📍Directions: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/1DPjNvzFNx9cU4nk6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/1DPjNvzFNx9cU4nk6) 🌧️ The event will be canceled in case of poor weather **🗺️Trail & Weather:** 🗺️Map: [[https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/lmh-woa-combined-day-hike-d6bc793?u=i&sh=lfbxds](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/lmh-woa-combined-day-hike-d6bc793?u=i&sh=lfbxds) ](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/lmh-woa-combined-day-hike-d6bc793?u=i&sh=lfbxds) 🌤️Forecast: [[https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/va/sperryville](https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/va/sperryville) ](https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/va/sperryville) **🍻Post-Hike Social:** After the hike, we’ll head to [4Js Farm & Brewery](https://www.4jsfarmbrewery.com/) for food and drinks. **📝 RSVP Details:** * **✅RSVPs open April 2 at 12 PM** * **⏰Closes: Friday, May 1 at 7 PM** CARPOOLING: We encourage those with cars to carpool with others - you're the ones who make LMH great! Capoeira
Capoeira
Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO. No need to have a Capoeira background to join this class, just an open mind to try out a new way to move! Beginners welcome. **Please reserve your spot at www.piesfitnessyoga.com**. The session is offered InStudio only. **Sign up for sessions must be made at least 2 hours prior to class.** The address is 1322 Prince St. Alexandria, VA 22314. Our entrance is located on the side of the building, parallel to West St. **Street parking is available and additional parking is located at Shiloh Baptist church, spaces 3,5,7,9.** The church is located across the street from the studio, on the corner of Duke St. and West St.
