Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area. When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session. Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries! **A note about the format** We don’t host critiques or readings. # 🧙‍♂️ A wizards introduction to Semantic Link 📅 **Date:** February 5 ⏰ **Time:** 19:00 CET 🌍 **Format:** Online only 📌 **Language:** English ## 🔍 **Event Description** Managing a Power BI environment can be frustrating. Our database changes a name of a column, where is that used in our reports? Do I need to open them all? Who do I contact? We know that bi-directional filtering is best not-done, but how do we know it is used? Can we find that? Using Semantic link, a free python library we can use in Fabric Notebooks, even someone with little to no Python experience can save a lot of time finding answers to these questions. Come and see how semantic link can help you out like it did for me. The Yellow wizard will take you along on a managing tour of the Power BI environment of Middle Earth. ## 👥 **Who Should Join?** * Power BI admins and platform owners * BI developers and analytics engineers * Data engineers working with Fabric & semantic models * Anyone responsible for governance and impact analysis in Power BI * Curious minds — Python knowledge is not required ## ✨ **What to Expect** * Real-world Power BI management challenges * Practical insights into Semantic Link * Fabric Notebook–based examples * Governance, impact analysis & model transparency * A story-driven session with Middle-Earth vibes ## 📍 **Event format** * Online only: The session will take place exclusively via Microsoft Teams. Shut Up & Write! [Amsterdam/ IJburg]
Shut Up & Write! [Amsterdam/ IJburg]
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at Factor-ij Amsterdam on Thursday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 11: 15 AM - Quick introductions 11: 30 AM - Timer starts: write for 1 hour 12: 30 PM - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 12:30 pm after the writing is wrapped. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at Factor-ij! What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Please come with your devices pre-charged, since we probably won't be always sitting somewhere with charging possibilities. Other Important Details: Travel by public transportation: 1. Take Tram 26 from the central station Amsterdam, and step out by the last stop. 2. Take bus 66 from the Amsterdam Bijlmer station, step out by Pieter Oosterhuisstraat, and further walk in the direction of the bus till the corner. FREE Wifi. Compulsory consumption is not required, but please do order a drink to honor our generous host.
Campfire talks about everything Domain Driven Design
Campfire talks about everything Domain Driven Design
**🏕️ Campfire talks about everything Domain Driven Design ⛺️** We organized our first DDD Campfire talks last year, which was a great success. What better time than December to host another one! Who doesn't love sharing and listening to stories. Storytelling has been the way that we share experiences and inspire each other, ever since humankind has existed. Don’t worry, we know It's a bit too cold to sit outside at the moment, that won't hold us back to find a cozy corner inside for our campfire, enjoy food together and share stories. No slides, no elaborate preparation, just a group of people with interesting experiences around Domain-Driven Design. Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or just enjoy listening to a good tale, this gathering is for you! 🧑🏻 **Topics** 🤖 Last year showed that the cosy atmosphere really allowed everybody to actively participate in sharing their experiences with Domain Driven Design. We had some starter-questions ready, but hardly needed them. This year we'll definitely do the same, maybe with topics starters like "What is the impact of AI 🤖 on what we are trying to achieve as DDD community?". Or maybe the group will decide not to talk about AI at all, as we've been talking about that too much already this year, maybe it's better to talk about 🧑🏻 human stuff for a change 😀. **🚋 Location 🌍** Join us at the Total Design office in IJburg, 15 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station using tram 26. If you come by car, we don't have any parking spots at the location itself, ParkBee Sluishuis is available across the street at a reasonable price. Total Design and Luminis can be found on the 4th floor at Pedro de Medinalaan 1, Amsterdam. **🕖 Schedule 🕙** 18:00 - 19:00 Doors open, welcome drinks and food 19:00 - 21:00 Campfire storytelling, sharing DDD experiences and discussing the current state of DDD **🎯Target audience 👥** You have an interest in Domain-Driven Design, want to learn more about it, or want to share your experiences with others. Feel free to drop a comment if you're not sure if you should attend. **🍝 RSVP correctly for your fellow members and host 🍕** Please ensure that you update your RSVP. We understand that attending a meetup isn't always possible even though you wanted to come. Throwing away food is just waste, so feel free to change your mind but update your RSVP accordingly :-)

9km hike around the Egelmeer from Veenendaal-West train station
9km hike around the Egelmeer from Veenendaal-West train station
Join us for a 9km walk in the beautiful East of the Utrecht Region. As the route will be taking us along the Egelmeer lake and Prattenburg estate, you may expect forest mixed with some heathlandscapes, which makes this a great walk if you want to get out in the nature. The start and end point of this walk will be Veenendaal-West train station, where we'll be meeting right next to the platform where the train from Utrecht will arrive. We'll wait for the 10.40AM train to arrive and then depart at around 10.45AM. If you're arriving late, we won't let the whole group wait for you, but you can send a WhatsApp message to +31621177691 so we can send you our live location and you can try to catch up with us. For those coming by car, there is a free parking right next to the station, at the Dichterslaan. Please be aware that Veenendaal-West is just a small train station and there are no public toilets there. Also there are no public toilets on our route. Therefore please visit a restroom before arriving. Do you think about joining, but you're not sure if it's something for you? Utrecht Hiking Community aims to organise one hike per month in or around Utrecht, often in collaboration with UR-Glocal, which organises expat activities in Utrecht Region. If you're in for a hike with a bunch of friendly other hiking enthusiasts, you're very welcome to join, no matter whether you're an expat, local, tourist, nomad, student, professional, beginner, alone or with friends. The hikes are a great way to meet people from different backgrounds while being active and out in nature. We call this 'Social Hiking'. If you love to hike fast, we might not be the right group for you though, as for us it's important that beginners can join and have a good time as well. Dogs are allowed on almost the whole route, but need to be kept on a leash at several parts. At the end of the route there is one small part where dogs aren't allowed, but there's an easy little detour available. If you want, you can join for a lunch afterwards in the snackbar/lunchroom next to the train station. Participation in the hike is for free, but we do make some costs for it. Especially the yearly MeetUp subscribtion for organisers is quite expensive. Therefore, if you like the hike and would like to support us, a donation would be very welcome. Donations can be made using this link: https://www.ing.nl/payreq/m/?trxid=Mx3BLcfeIITcTMIHEHnpeAKKIFrWFukB For an impression of this route or of our previous, please check and follow our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/utrecht.hiking.community We hope to see you on Saturday in Veenendaal!

Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way? This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents. Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to: Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture. Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases. Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI. Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem. Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does. Want to be a speaker? submit your talk to our Call for Presenters!!! [https://sessionize.com/azure-cbus-2026/](https://sessionize.com/azure-cbus-2026/)
AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ai-development-risk-case-studies-and-how-agentic-ai-is-the-future-of-appsec-tickets-1981450622150?aff=oddtdtcreator AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application security—autonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data** Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics. The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth. The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical. (note: we are back at Rev1 this month!) **About Our Speaker** [Alex Moore](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexscottmoore/) is the founder of [Moore Cooperative](https://moorecooperative.com/), where he advises organizations on compensation strategy, pay equity, and people analytics. His work focuses on helping organizations like the Ohio Supreme Court design, analyze, and communicate compensation systems that are data-informed, defensible, and aligned with organizational goals.
