The Body Under the Microscope** ***Art & Science Workshop*** Join us for a new workshop that brings art and science together, co-led by Cristina Brischetto, Molecular Biologist and of course, Lu. Together, they will guide you into the fascinating world of blood—exploring its vital role in the body and its hidden beauty under the microscope. This workshop is divided into two parts. In the first part, Cristina will introduce the science of blood in a short, engaging, and accessible way, sharing how blood cells function, travel, and work tirelessly to keep us alive. In the second part, Lu will guide participants through watercolour techniques with live demonstrations, focusing on fluidity, movement, and organic forms. **Inspired by microscopic images, participants will learn about biology while painting their own artistic interpretation of blood cells, linking artistic expression with scientific imagery.** No prior artistic experience is required—just curiosity and an open mind. He received a Master's degree in Communication Systems from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 2009 and a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from the Technische Universität Berlin in 2013. The topic for May is "Ink" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
