Design Your Own Crystal Scented Candle 26.05
Create the candle of your dreams in this premium scented candle workshop in Berlin, where creativity, sustainability, and craftsmanship come together. Hosted inside the Galleria Lucia Atelier, this immersive experience takes place in a historic artist building - a former factory now home to painters, designers, and makers. It's not a showroom or an office, but a real working candle atelier where so many candles come to life.
During the workshop, you'll design a fully customized scented candle from start to finish. Choose your candle jar color, painted with sustainable, dishwasher-safe paints and designed to last up to 500 washes. Once your candle is finished, the glass can be reused as a drinking glass - making it both beautiful and responsible.
Select from a curated range of premium fragrance oils, choose wax colors, finishes, and add natural crystals for a truly personal touch. You'll also create your own custom label, making each candle a one-of-a-kind piece.
While you create, enjoy complimentary refreshments and learn expert tips on how to choose sustainable candles in the future and care for your candles so they burn cleaner and last longer.
Surrounded by hundreds of candles and the authentic atmosphere of a Berlin candle atelier, this workshop offers a rare behind-the-scenes look into small-scale candle making - creative, intimate, and unforgettable.

Offener Deutschunterricht - Text & Konversation - Niveau B2+ (Fortgeschritten)
Watercolour Herbarium: A Sensory Workshop
### **🌿 Watercolour Herbarium: A Sensory Workshop**
Do you know which herbs boost memory?
Which ones calm your body, support digestion, or help you sleep?
Join us for a unique 4-day watercolour journey where art meets nature, observation, and everyday wisdom.
**In this workshop, we will create our own illustrated herbarium — a personal catalogue of plants — while working directly from real, fresh herbs from my little balcony garden.**
You’ll learn how to observe their shapes, textures, and colours, and translate them into delicate watercolour studies.
But this is more than painting.
Each day, we’ll explore a different selection of herbs like oregano, rosemary, mint, basil and more — learning how they grow, what they’re traditionally used for, and how they can support your body and wellbeing.
**We’ll touch them, smell them, paint them… and even taste them in teas and infusions,** engaging all our senses to truly connect with each plant.
✨ What to expect:
* Guided watercolour sessions (all levels welcome)
* Real herbs to observe and paint from life
* Gentle introduction to herbal knowledge & home remedies
* A growing collection of your own illustrated herbarium
* A calm, sensory, and inspiring atmosphere
* Tips about how to grow these herbs at home during this spring
By the end of the 4 days, you’ll leave not only with a beautiful series of paintings, but also with a deeper understanding of the plants around you — and how they can become part of your everyday rituals.
The workshop includes **four classes**, but you’re also welcome to join individual sessions (when available).

WTM Berlin x SPICED Academy: AI and Building a Tech career in Berlin
Women Techmakers Berlin and SPICED Academy are joining forces to host an evening focused on both building *efficient AI systems* and navigating the real challenges of building a *career in tech*—beyond just learning technical skills.
## Talks
Talk 1: Confidence Beyond Skills - What Really Holds Women Back in Tech Careers - by Marina Matveevskaia
Many women in tech keep investing in new courses, skills, and certifications, yet still feel stuck or “not ready enough” to take the next career step.
In this talk, we will look beyond technical competence and explore the less visible factors that often shape career growth much more strongly — such as self-trust, fear of visibility, internalized expectations, and the emotional impact of burnout or layoffs.
I will share common patterns I see in highly capable women and why “just improving skills” is often not the real barrier.
Participants will leave with new perspectives and simple reflection tools to better understand what is holding them back and how to move forward in a more sustainable and aligned way.
Talk 2: Efficient Agentic Systems - by Jane Waithira
Let Classical ML Do the Heavy Lifting, Let Agents Do the Thinking
There’s a temptation to throw an LLM at every problem—but the most effective systems take a different approach.
This talk explores how to combine deterministic, classical machine learning for predictable tasks with LLM-powered agents for reasoning and decision-making—so you can build systems that are fast, cost-effective, and reliable.
## Speakers
**Jane Waithira:**
Jane Waithira is an innovative, solution-oriented developer working in AI/ML, currently at SAP in Germany, where she integrates applied AI and GenAI for SAP's own cloud infrastructure. With over five years of experience building production AI systems, Jane has established her skillset in practical applications of ML and GenAI.
Her talk will provide attendees with a practical framework for building efficient agentic systems that combine deterministic classical ML with the flexibility of LLM-powered agents.

With over 14 years of experience in the IT industry, including leadership roles, she understands the unique pressures and challenges women face in fast-paced, male-dominated environments.
In her coaching practice, Marina focuses on burnout prevention, impostor syndrome, and career transitions, helping highly capable women build sustainable and fulfilling career paths. She also collaborates with the German Employment Agency (Arbeitsagentur) as an AVGS coach, supporting women in their return to the labour market.

Origami CATalogue at a cat café 🐈
For the first time in its almost two years of history, Origami Crafters in Berlin goes into a **cat café**! Actual cats will be around to witness our folding efforts.*🐈🐈⬛*
And what could be more appropriate to fold there than **cats** themselves? We might also add **mice** to the folding menu, depending on your appetite (and so to say, our origami cats' appetite too). 😺🐭
We invite you to join us at the very centrally located **Katzentempel** (S+U Friedrichstrasse) to fold a feline cat-alogue while enjoying the company of real cats roaming around.
What you can expect in our events:
* **Mandatory donation (amount of your choice)** – this supports essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving. 🌱 You can either submit a physical donation to the event host in person or make a digital donation [here](https://paypal.me/origamiberlin?locale.x=de_DE&country.x=DE) (and inform the host afterwards).
* **Please order at least one drink/snack** to support Katzentempel for hosting us!
* **In-person folding practice for all levels** – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome.
* **Origami paper + model instructions will be provided** (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools!
* **Photos may be taken** for memories & our archive (Meetup, Instagram, Telegram) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear.
⚠️ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠️
Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully:
* Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram channel](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) if you can't make it last minute.
* Members with **2 no-shows** (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided.

Prompting Is Not Magic: How to Give AI Better Context
Most people use AI like a search box: they type one sentence, hope for the best, and get frustrated when the answer is generic, wrong, or useless.
But getting better results from tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other AI systems is not about memorizing magic prompts. It is about learning how to give the AI better context.
In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll break down how to make AI dramatically more useful by improving the way you communicate with it. You’ll learn how to give clearer instructions, provide examples, set constraints, ask for better output formats, and use follow-up questions to turn a mediocre answer into a genuinely useful one.
We’ll cover practical techniques you can use immediately for work, learning, writing, coding, planning, research, and everyday problem solving. We’ll also touch on why these same ideas show up in more advanced AI systems, including RAG, agents, evaluations, and AI workflows.
No technical background required. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and maybe one real task you wish AI was better at helping you with.
**What you’ll learn:**
* Why “better prompting” is really about better context
* How to structure requests so AI gives more useful answers
* How to use examples, constraints, and output formats
* How to iterate when the first answer is not good enough
* How these skills connect to more advanced AI workflows
This meetup is for anyone who wants to move beyond basic ChatGPT usage and start getting more practical value out of AI.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
