In diesem Workshop erkunden wir auf spielerische und achtsame Weise neue Bewegungsmöglichkeiten. Mit einfachen Improvisationsaufgaben, klaren Impulsen und viel Raum zum Ausprobieren entdecken wir, wie vielfältig Bewegung sein kann. Outdoor Floral Oil Painting Workshop 🌸🎨 (Mother’s Day Special) 10th May We’ll spend a 7-hour outdoor painting session focused on flowers in bloom, creating a beautiful floral still life inspired by spring. It’s a calm, mindful experience to slow down and enjoy painting in nature. In honor of Mother’s Day (10th May), this special workshop will also include a festive apéro break, making the day feel even more special. In case of bad weather, we’ll paint indoors at the atelier. Manga zeichnen wirkt auf den ersten Blick oft kompliziert und einschüchternd. Die ausdrucksstarken Augen, die besonderen Gesichtszüge und die dynamischen Figuren lassen viele glauben, dass man dafür jahrelange Erfahrung braucht. Doch genau hier setzt dieser Manga-Zeichenworkshop an: Manga zu zeichnen ist viel einfacher, als du denkst, wenn man die richtigen Grundlagen lernt und Schritt für Schritt angeleitet wird. In meinen Manga-Zeichenworkshops lernen Kinder und Jugendliche auf spielerische und verständliche Weise die wichtigsten Techniken des Manga-Zeichnens kennen. Der Kurs ist so aufgebaut, dass er auch ohne Vorkenntnisse gut verständlich ist und von Anfang an Erfolgserlebnisse vermittelt. Ziel ist es, den Teilnehmenden die Angst vor dem Zeichnen zu nehmen und ihre Kreativität zu fördern. Alle benötigten Materialien sind im Kurs inklusive, sodass nichts mitgebracht werden muss. Zeichenpapier, Stifte und weitere Materialien stehen vor Ort zur Verfügung. Ablauf: Aufwärm- und Sketch-Übungen (10–15 Minuten) Zu Beginn lockern wir die Hand mit einfachen Zeichenübungen und schnellen Skizzen. Diese helfen, Sicherheit im Strich zu entwickeln und entspannt ins Zeichnen zu starten. Albisrieden is one of those Zurich districts where you can still sense something of the city’s village past: around the historic centre, timber-framed houses, narrow lanes, fountains and long-established public spaces meet everyday neighbourhood life. Meeting point: At the fountain in the village centre, right by the local museum (Ortsmuseum) at the corner of Albisriederstrasse / Triemlistrasse. This class will provide instruction into various concepts of **Jiu-Jitsu** as a form of **martial art**. Participants will have the opportunity to **study**, **practice**, and **experiment** with **submission holds** and **strategic fighting controls** that are the hallmark of the now famous methodology of Professional MMA athletes and professional combatives users. This **gi class** is held every **Tuesday** and **Thursday** and includes **one hour of instruction** and **30 minutes** (sometimes longer, TBD) of **open training**. Professor Scott Paulson, who regularly teaches introductory physics classes that make the physics behind real-world phenomena accessible to all, will discuss the forces and phenomena that come into play in baseball during pitching, batting, and fielding. He’ll toss you basic physics concepts that help explain how baseball’s routine plays got to be that way, and he’ll explain what’s going on in some situations where the laws of physics seem to be violated by what’s happening on the field. Ever wondered why curveballs curve or knuckleballs behave so strangely? You’ll learn how Newton’s laws and the Magnus force explain how pitchers get drastically different results from subtle differences in their releases. Curious about what exactly the “sweet spot” of the bat is? Ever wondered how big an advantage batters get from the thin air of Mile High Stadium? We’ll explore the physics of the batted ball, examining the phenomena of waves and analyzing the interaction of ball, bat and batter with the help of high-speed video. During one of the more exciting scenarios in a baseball game—the close play at the plate—fans often see outfielders throw to an infielder rather than directly to home. We’ll look at the pros and cons of this relay play, known as a “cut-off,” in the context of the physics of projectile motion. Finally, we will also look into high-profile cheating scandals involving corked bats and doctored balls. Dr. Paulson will present models to explain how these alterations to the equipment can benefit the batter and pitcher respectively, and he’ll discuss how much these models are backed up by data.
