Expect the Good: Opening to Life's Blessings
Why are we sometimes surprised when something good happens?
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, *“I can’t believe this is happening!”*—even when it’s something you truly wanted?
This Mother’s Day, join us at **Unity of Fairfax** as we explore the spiritual practice of *receiving*. Through a Unity perspective, we’ll reflect on how our beliefs about worthiness, love, and expectation shape what we allow into our lives.
Together, we’ll honor the nurturing spirit of Mother’s Day while opening ourselves to more joy, gratitude, and the ability to fully receive the good that is already present.
Whether you’re celebrating, remembering, or simply seeking a meaningful message, you are warmly welcome.

Cunning Crones of the Crossroads
This meeting we will be discussing our Crone superpowers. What we have gained or like to in this stage of life. How it is the same or different than we thought it would be.
We need a name. Lets name our group.
Welcome to all who identify as women—those in their wisdom years and those journeying toward them, embracing cycles of growth, transformation, and deepening self-awareness.
This space honors women celebrating the strength, creativity, and wisdom that unfold through each season of the feminine path.
In this circle, a crone is not defined by age but by attitude - someone who carries or seeks the wisdom, courage, and self-knowledge that comes with lived experience.
You are invited to join the Crone’s circle of women coming together to share wisdom, experience, and inspiration. This gathering offers a welcoming space for reflection, storytelling, and meaningful conversation about life’s journeys, challenges, and triumphs.
Whether you seek connection, personal growth, or simply a moment of peace among kindred spirits, this meeting is an opportunity to nurture your inner strength and celebrate the wisdom within us all.
Come as you are.
To guide and enrich our time together, we will be using books and other creative means—such as rituals ceremonies, journaling, art, and shared activities—to spark insight, deepen connection, and inspire personal growth.
Naming of the group will be done in circle.
Please bring a journal for our journey.
Books can be bought through Sticks and Stones.
The first book will be:
The Crone Zone: How to Get Older with Style, Nerve, and a Little Bit of Magic
by Nina G. Bargiel
Host: Cat
Entrance cost: $15

Trained in meditation, earth-based spirituality, yoga, massage, and energy work, she weaves together practices that nurture balance and connection. Her creative spirit finds expression through continued learning, ceremony, rituals, movement, art, crafts, and journaling, which she uses as tools for reflection and transformation. Deeply committed to creating community, Cat fosters spaces where individuals can share, heal, and grow together. Through her work, she continues to explore the harmony between energy, creativity, and the natural world.

Floating Harmony: A Mother's Day Aerial Sound Bath Experience
NOTE: You MUST sign up and pay via our website to reserve your spot (https://flyingbuddhastudio.com/#Events). Simply responding yes to attend via Meetup does not hold your spot. Thank you for your understanding!
Honor rest, care, and connection with this deeply nurturing Mother’s Day–inspired Aerial Sound Bath. Whether you’re celebrating yourself, a mother in your life, or simply the energy of care and creation, this experience is an invitation to receive.
This transformative workshop combines the lightness of a suspended, floating body with the soothing vibrations of a sound bath. Harmonizing the body through sound can help regulate energy along the meridians, calm the nervous system, and support emotional release—offering space to soften, reset, and restore the physical, emotional, and mental body.
The aerial hammock creates a cocoon-like environment, often compared to the maternal womb, gently cradling and supporting the body in a way that promotes deep safety and ease.
Float weightlessly as you’re immersed in the binaural tones of crystal singing bowls, allowing yourself to slow down, let go, and be held—an especially meaningful practice for Mother’s Day.
**Cost of workshop:** $50 without a hammock rental, $60 with a hammock rental

Mantra Drum Circle for Rain
Join us to drum for rain! The drum circle will be at the Guru Rinpoche statue at the entrance to the Peace Park, across the street from the temple. We will be chanting sacred mantras as we drum, praying for abundant rain to ease the drought.
All are welcome!
Please bring any percussion instruments you have - the more the merrier! If you don't have any drums, there may be extra available. Either way, you can chant along with everyone. Seating is limited so we recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on.
In the event of inclement weather, we usually drum as long as we can before the storm starts, or wait it out and start a little late. We hold out until the last minute to cancel so if the weather seems iffy, keep an eye on our Facebook page for announcements.
The DC region is currently experiencing moderate to severe drought. Many other regions of the world are also experiencing drought conditions. We will dedicate our prayers to bringing life-giving rain to all who need it!
