{Hiking Series} M'sia: Gunung Lambak (Butterfly Trail) ~10km Training Hike!
{Hiking Series} M'sia: Gunung Lambak (Butterfly Trail) ~10km Training Hike!
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](http://wa.me/+6588842635) **or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! \**** Gunung Lambak is quite a well-known hike amongst Singapore hikers, as it is nearby and extremely suitable for beginners with many different trails and short trails. However, we are not doing the usual short trail to the summit, instead we are doing a butterfly trail (somewhat of a loop) as training, where it'll be \~9-10km and 5-7h of hiking in total. **Background** Gunung Lambak (510m) is an extremely popular 1-day beginner hike located in Malaysia, about 2 hours from Singapore. Many locals and Singaporeans DIY this hike. It also acts as a good starting hike and introduction to trekking for beginners or first-timers, and often used as a good training hike for those experienced who extend the trails! **The Hike** The hike takes an average of 6-8h in total. We'll head to the summit -> Microwave Station -> Big Tree -> Summit (lunch stop) -> Starting Point. Its the butterfly trail because of how it looks like...when you log it on your GPS (e.g. Strava etc) There are some steep parts which can be challenging and strenuous and requires using your hands. Additionally, there are minor rope sections. This trek can be challenging for beginners so be prepared for a fun adventurous experience. The summit has a slight view of the city but not much of a view. Enjoy the breezy forest trek down before heading for a meal or free and easy activities. . To confirm, do RSVP and send me a whatsapp message! A Whatsapp group will be set up for further details. A minimum of 12 pax is needed for this trip to go ahead. Your place is only confirmed once payment is made. **Estimated Itinerary:** 5.30am – Meet Marsiling MRT, depart for Lambak 8.30am – Start trek 12.00pm – Lambak Summit (Lunch stop) 3.30pm- Reach back down and wash up 5:00pm – R&R 7.00-11 pm – Dinner before heading back to SG ***Itinerary might change depending on traffic conditions/situations. The trek leader will make the decisions accordingly. Dinner/R&R locations are not fixed as it depends on what time the group finishes. Final timing for meetup will be confirmed in the whatsapp group*** Price: **100 SGD per pax** Price includes: 2-ways Transport LMT Trek Leader Local Guides Price excludes: Personal Travel Insurance All Personal expenses/Meals/Activities Visa Application (if any) Everything else This event is organized by LITTLE MONSTERS TRAVEL PTE LTD Travel Agent Licence No: 03117 Contact : +65 88842635 Email: info@littlemonsterstravel.net FAQ Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park? A: There are quite basic but clean toilets at the park. Be prepared to shower using a bucket of cold water and a pail. Please bring a change of clothes and shower when you are down from Lambak. No smelly people in the vehicle! How fit do I have to be? I am afraid of being the slowest/burden to the group. A: You would need basic endurance and be open-minded, embrace the challenge of using your hands and steep terrain. Many people and locals climb Lambak everyday. However do note the distance, and it might not be suitable for you if you struggle with stairs, or walking <5km or to lunch everyday What happens if it rains! A: We would continue if its light and go slowly, or wait it out most likely as tropical showers do not last long. Also, always expect to hike with rain

[Hiking Series] M'sia-Gunung Pulai (Trans QJM): Intense challenging hike ~12h!
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](wa.me/+6588842635) **or contact +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group!\**** Gunung Pulai (654m) is another extremely popular mountain with locals and Singaporeans. Most people visit Pulai for an easy weekend hike, where you can take either the jungle trail or tar trail up and have a nice view at the top. There are also trail running events for this area. For this trip, we are doing the Trans QJM, which is part of the QJM Ultra, where railrunners do and its often done for hardcore training. This includes \~2,000 elevation gain for the whole trip as well as past 6 river sections. It is known to look like an eagle route when you map it (on strava etc) **{Hardcore Hike Series}** This focuses on hikes on the opposite end of the spectrum from leisure hikes. Hikes are expected to be >12h, and we usually start and end at night. We expect the participants to be experienced and slightly "crazy" enough to push themselves to the limit and embrace challenges. **Who is this for?** **=> People who wish to/can challenge themselves (I would say to the point of torture)** => People who have done full day hikes (e.g. Ophir) and wish to challenge themselves much further (X2) => Wish to hike more than 12h and deal with going steep uphills, and then down, and then up again, with wet shoes, to test their mental fortitude => Training for tough hikes (high altitude hikes etc) => Generally suited for more experienced hikers who know they can last at least 12h hiking => Test yourself hiking with little/no sleep Do note that we might start and descend when dark, so please bring headlights and we expect some level of fitness or hiking experience for the group! We'll try to start as early as possible. Therefore, it'll be an intense hike because you will do it with little/no sleep after Friday night. So do be mentally and physically prepared for it! ***Hike Details*** ***The total distance is \~23km and total elevation gain is \~2300m+.The hike is around 12-16h in total, depending on your speed.*** This is almost 2x as long as Ophir Asahan hike. It can and will be extremely tiring on your mind, body and legs. It is generally tropical forest trail, with some rope portions, branches, insects, rivers (you name it you get it?). Do note that there will be lots of ups and downs so be mentally prepared for it. As this can be quite a challenging route, the group pace will be quite fast and we'll push at a certain speed. **There is also a cut-off timings which we'll enforce more strictly. If you fail to make it you will have to turn back unfortunately, as the distance is long. We aim to all be back down by 9pm.** **Minimum pax** Minimum 12 to start the trip! Once confirmed, will update in the WA group and ask for details and payment. **Estimated Itinerary: (Saturday)** **(Saturday)** TBC : Meet @ Marsiling MRT 4.00 am: Breakfast/Rest on Bus 5.30 am: Reach Pulai Trailhead, start hike 1.00 pm: CP7 Pulai Summit, quick lunch 3:00 pm: CP11 Batu Katak \~8:00 pm: CP18 \~9.30 pm : Dinner (cost not included). Head back to SG \~11.30 pm++ : Reach back SG ***Itinerary is subject to changes based on conditions and group speed and trek leader's discretion*** **Price: 170 SGD** ***\*\*Itinerary and timings to be confirmed in the group chat, and might change depending on traffic conditions/on the ground decisions by the trek leader.*** Price includes: 2-ways Transport All associated Park Permits/ Fees LMT Trek Leader Local Hiking Guides Price excludes: Personal Travel Insurance All Personal expenses/Meals Visa Application (if any) This event is organized by LITTLE MONSTERS TRAVEL PTE LTD Travel Agent Licence No: 03117 Contact : +65 88842635 Email: [info@littlemonsterstravel.net](http://info@littlemonsterstravel.net/)

**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](wa.me/+6588842635) **or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! \**** Gunung Datuk is a good **challenging (depends on who you ask)** starting hike and introduction to trekking for beginners or first-timers who wish to know **what hiking really entails!** It is also one of the more fun short-day hikes for the adventurous! Mount Datuk (885m) is an extremely popular 1-day beginner hike located in Malaysia, about an hour away from Malacca. The hike takes an average of 2.5h up and 2.5h down. It is not too long, yet challenging and strenuous enough for a half-day hike. There are some very steep parts and the trek requires using your hands. Additionally, there are minor rope sections and ladders near the summit. This trek can be **challenging for beginners** so be prepared for a fun adventurous experience. At the summit, there is a nice view of the surroundings and we can take a break on the rocks and enjoy the wind before descending! After that, the plan is to hunt for some good food in Malacca! If we end earlier, there will be more time for free and easy along Jonker street. Of course within the group, there will be people of various speeds. Those faster can have more time at the summit and wash up first. Please be patient for the slower ones! The intention of the trip is to introduce newbies who haven't tried trekking before so please be patient and welcoming! It is important to be open-minded and sporting enough to embrace challenges! There are mosquitoes and leeches abound =) **Do note it is NOT a walk in the park** To confirm, do RSVP and send me a whatsapp message! A Whatsapp group will be set up. A minimum of **12 pax** is needed for this trip to go ahead. Your place is only confirmed once payment is made. Here is the estimated itinerary: Saturday 12.00am – Meet Marsiling MRT, depart for Datuk 4.00am – Stop by for breakfast 5.00am – Start trek at with headlights 7.30am – Summit 11.00am- Reach back and wash up 1.00pm – Head to Malacca for food 4.00pm – Depart back to Singapore 9-12pm – Reach back Marsiling MRT (depends on traffic) Price: **120SGD per pax** Price includes: 2-ways Transport LMT Trek Leader Guides Entrance Fees LMT Info-Kit Price excludes: All Personal expenses/Meals/Activities in Malacca Visa Application (if any) Everything else This event is organized by LITTLE MONSTERS TRAVEL PTE LTD Travel Agent Licence No: 03117 Contact : +65 88842635 Email: info@littlemonsterstravel.net Some additional questions: 1. How long is the ride to Mount Datuk A: It takes only around 3-4h from Singapore - Datuk/Malacca. 2. The journey to Datuk only takes 3 hours, why do we set off so early? A: This is so that we can save money on accommodation/driver cost/taxi to MRT station. This also means there is a lack of sleep, so try to sleep in the vehicle! Bring a travel pillow! 3. Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park? A: Very basic shower and toilet facilities. Please bring a change of clothes and shower when you are down from Datuk. No smelly people in the vehicle! 4. Do I get to see the sunrise at the top? A: Maybe. Depends on how comfortable everyone is with walking with headlights. 5. I am totally new to hiking, what should I bring/wear? Is there training? A: I will set up a WhatsApp group for questions and provide some info-kit to prepare. Most important is being open =) 6. How fit do I have to be? I am afraid of being the slowest/burden to the group. A: You would need basic endurance and be open-minded, embrace the challenge of using your hands and going up and down rocks or steep terrain. Many people have done Datuk, of various fitness, the group will move at a slower pace to help build that confidence. 7. What happens if it rains! A: If it is a light drizzle, we would continue. Usually we'll continue, or wait until the heavy rain stops. If it rains, it'll be slippery so go slow!

Grab a cup of coffee from Winston's Coffee & Waffles or on your way to East Market and meet us on the second floor - table behind or east of the elevator. International transplants to Columbus who want to improve language skills, Columbus residents who want to discuss international travel and culture, and anyone who enjoys getting together for good conversations."
How to Get Over Losses and Betrayls & Build Lasting Relationships
How to Get Over Losses and Betrayls & Build Lasting Relationships
Join us for this free, in person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Do you want more motivation and confidence to build lasting relationships? Are you burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival, while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is held at the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
Meet us at the Brazilian Grill & Bakery!
Meet us at the Brazilian Grill & Bakery!
Inspired by the successful events like "Pot Luck in the Park" and "Saturday Mornings @ East Market," this meetup promises a fun and engaging atmosphere where like-minded individuals can connect over a shared love for languages and cultures. Whether you're a language learner, ESL student, or simply passionate about exploring new cultures, this event is perfect for anyone looking to immerse themselves in a diverse and welcoming community. Come join us for an enlightening afternoon of language, culture, food, of course, and connections! (Everyone will individually choose from the buffet and pay for their own meal, by weight.)
Conversacion en español (en persona)
Conversacion en español (en persona)
While some are still meeting online, this is an in person event. Please note that we have attendees of all levels of speaking, including some native speakers. All are welcome! Also, as we meet at the same time and place each week, many don’t RSVP on the app, so we will likely have more attendees than noted here. Note: if you are asked to pay and upgrade the Meetup app, this is not necessary. You can ignore this and still attend our meetings.
Sunday Board Games at Land-Grant Brewing
Sunday Board Games at Land-Grant Brewing
We'll play board games at the [Land-Grant Brewing Company](https://landgrantbrewing.com/). They have multiple [food trucks](https://landgrantbrewing.com/food/) on Sundays. Ray Ray's also has coffee, and the brewery has free water (and Jeni's ice cream). You can come late or leave early. Please just sign up so I know to expect you. **Notes on Parking** * You'll (probably) have to park on the street, but street parking is free on Sundays. * There are [parking garages](https://landgrantbrewing.com/parking/) a little farther away if you want. These are obviously not free, though. * There is a [lot next door](https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B057'26.0%22N+83%C2%B000'40.9%22W/@39.957211,-83.0119921,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m12!1m7!3m6!1s0x88388f3efd89238b:0xc139207386232411!2sLand-Grant+Brewing+Company!8m2!3d39.9577613!4d-83.011426!16s%2Fg%2F1pzt7t9df!3m3!8m2!3d39.957211!4d-83.011347?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDEyMS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D) to the brewery that you're allowed to park in, but it is not free. I've never parked there, so I don't know anything about rates. (I'm told though that if you eat at Milo's Deli next door to this lot that Milo's will stamp your parking so it's free.) * You're going to see odd signs on [Lucas St](https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B057'26.1%22N+83%C2%B000'40.3%22W/@39.957256,-83.0124134,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m10!1m5!3m4!2zMznCsDU3JzI4LjgiTiA4M8KwMDAnNDEuNSJX!8m2!3d39.957993!4d-83.011536!3m3!8m2!3d39.957256!4d-83.011197?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDEyMS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D) (saying it's a "private street") that will lead you to believe you're not allowed to park there, but you actually are. * Columbus parking cops literally do not work on Sundays. This means that, even if you're driving a non-EV, you can park in the EV spots near the brewery. **Games** I do bring many games, but please bring some of your own as well.

Join members of the local UX and Digital Design community for a casual monthly breakfast. There _might_ be a little snow, but there _will_ be effectively infinite serve-yourself coffee, so it evens out if you ask me. Just a reminder, while the other locations are great too, we’re at the Lane Ave one this time.
Italian Conversation Hour
Italian Conversation Hour
Ciao a tutt\*! Let's meet Monday at 6.30pm at the **Columbus Public Library (Northside Branch)** in **Meeting Room 3** to speak in Italian for 1 hour. \*Note the change in location this week due to no space the Upper Arlington library.\* Keeping Monday for consistency but we can discuss if there are better days/times/locations! Perhaps we can do two times a week as well. TBD.
