Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. Come write with us at Cafe Pierre every Sunday at 18:00-20:00! A message from Shut Up & Write: "Shut Up & Write hosts free, in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer—regardless of genre or skill level—has access to the resources, community, and accountability that they need to be successful in their personal writing goals." And what this looks like at our event: We chat and give short introductions to what we are working on at 18:00, then start writing at 18:15. Though we try to start on dot, being late isn't a problem—just find a spot and get to work! We write until 20:00 and then discuss how our writing went. From fiction to non-fiction, academic papers to poetry, applications to work-related writing—anything goes! Nothing is needed except for you to bring whatever is need to get stuff done, i.e. laptop, headphones, pen and paper, and so on. Optional socialising may happen before 18:00 and after 20:00, or you may choose to use this time to get some more done! What an experience. After a 10-minute train ride just outside Vienna proper, we'll hit the fields and seek out a small creek heading East, passing two villages and one lovely town famous for its brewery. Low-flying planes hint at the proximity of an airport. Slowly turning into a river, the creek yet leads us in a different direction through thick forests and water preservation areas. On **Sunday, 21.12.2025**, I am planing a hike in the Lainzer Tiergarten. We meet at the U4 station Hütteldorf, walk through the Nicolaitor and hike to the Hubertuswarte (a lookout tower) on the Kaltbründelberg (508m). We continue to the main entrance, the Lainzer Tor and on another path back via the Nicolaitor to the U4 station Hütteldorf. At Lainzertor there is the possibility to take bus 56B, e.g. to U4 Wien Hietzing. So if you want, you can end the hike at the Lainzer Tor. So there are two hiking options of different lengths: **1\. U4 station Hütteldorf to Lainzer Tor:** Length of the tour: approx. 12km Duration: approx. 3.5h Altitude difference: approx. 300m up and 250m down **2\. U4 station Hütteldorf\, Lainzer Tor to U4 station Hütteldorf \(circular hike\):** Length of the tour: approx. 18km Duration: approx. 5.5h Altitude difference: approx. 500m up and 500m down We **meet at 9 a.m**. outside (and south) of the **U4 station Hütteldorf at the lift at the pedestrian bridge over the Vienna River** (see the photo below). Everyone has to bring their own food and drink (at least 1 liter), as we will not stop for a bite to eat. We take two to three breaks to rest and eat as needed. My hikes and mountain hikes are free of charge and purely private joint leisure events. I am not a certified hiking or mountain guide. Participation is at your own responsibility and risk.

**Weekly Sunday cold plunge in the Danube.** Come with us for a swim or just a dip in the Danube to test your limits and build your resilience to cold! **The water is going to be** around **5°C or a bit less.** (We're in single digits! 🥶) **Bring your swimsuit, towel, and warm clothes.** If you want, you can also bring extras like warm water (to pour over your feet after the dip to warm up faster), tea, snacks, water shoes, hat — anything that makes the experience more comfortable or fun for you and others! **The approximate timeline:** 11:00 meeting at the Danube shore 11:10 [breathing exercise](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tybOi4hjZFQ) (voluntary, possible to skip, but recommended) 11:20 going into water 11:40 warming up & chatting 12:00 end We’ve been meeting for a couple of years, and our community is growing: our **WhatsApp group has around 100 members**. Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
